This is the First Disney Musical

Disney was always into music tbh. This short came out a few months after Mickey's first cartoon, which we all know was the first to have synchronized sound. Well sound is one thing, but Walt and the team moved on to music real quick.
The Opry House is super simple and possibly even crude by our standards today. But it has some nice moments, like the end piano scene. The music in here is like a preview of the kinds of music that Golden Age cartoons would use. Like at this point we all know the Arabian snake charmer song, and even non-Americans know the Yankee Doodle tune literally because of old cartoons.
There’s even an old Klezmer tune “Chusen Kala Mazal Tov” that I discovered here. Watch the version by Paul Terras on YT it’s super good.
That famous Tom and Jerry where Tom is playing the piano uses the SAME music as Mickey plays right here. Also goes for that Bugs Bunny cartoon where Bugs is playing the same song as Tom and fighting his own mouse.

If Disney knows one thing for sure it's that their music is always the best, OST, songs... It never fails
