Playing Gief in mvc2 takes a person that’s built different, man. Like that’s a character that almost no one would gravitate to in a game like that. I love it when players go against the grain.

It also makes them so much harder to defeat, because there's so little experience fighting people who are actually GREAT at playing them. To say nothing of the lack of data online, compared to so many others frequently

I always liked to turn him to Mecha mode and use his throw assist into Silver Samurai's electric super.

Seeing Cable and Sentinel getting their asses whooped by Zangief in this game brings a Kool-Aid smile to my face XD

I love how Mugai specifically created his team around Zangief. The Silver Samurai and Jin assists forces the opponent to block a lot of the time, giving Zangief multiple opportunities to command grab his opponent. It's genius.

Mugai is a beast, this Gief is great to watch and learn, like Strago or evilmaxdark Gief. Also, mech gief is the only toon that can absorb the chun super (until i know, most broken inmunity one vs other supers) and still hit chun in the proces. Gief well playerd can be a nightmare for any team, that is OD. Shout out to Mugai, that men is really good and mad fun.

Dang, this player is nuts. He got all the techs and answers in those matches. Pretty awesome seeing other characters in MvC2 being used at this level too.

I knew someone back in high school that would do the three Zangief thing. He called it the Flying Zangief Brothers and it was super obnoxious lol.

Mugai is probably my favorite MvC2 channel. Watching him rinse people with Gief and S. Samurai has me rolling every time. Glad to see you're enjoying it too.

It makes sense that he can call assists there I guess. Because since he's armored up, he never goes into hit stun or block stun, meaning that he can call his assist.

That was really entertaining. Funny how even in a crazy movement game like Mvc2, a grappler can still make us want to jump for our lives even if they are ready to scoop and bring us back down to earth, lol.

The dude is extremely effective with this team. By far the best Zangief I’ve ever seen in MvC2. Relentless rush down is insane.

Cool performance of Mugai with Gief. It´s so fun to watch how he beat top players characters with him. Also Strago and Evilmaxdark are great players with Gief I watched similar sequence an strategies from them. That would be great a set a Gief Challenge with all of them.

I feel like the non god tier characters in mvc2 have so much unexplored potential, even after all these years.

I feel the same way. The fact that it's a team game means you can formulate teams and strategies that are much stronger than any individual character. Sure the tiers exist but they don't give you free wins.

When I was a kid I would play mvc2 on a dreamcast with my neighbor. He would do that silver samurai ice tech, I thought it was mad busted. As I got older I figured this strategy wasn’t that good since I never saw anyone else use it. my friend was always good at finding strategies, I guess that’s why he’s a professional poker player now xD

This was great. I'm never gonna complain about who plays what, high or low tier, but I appreciate this one. Some of these team games are under explored and I wish I could get my hands on them.

Been playing MvC2 since it came out in the Arcades, but just recently I've been seeing the most amazing and creative players so far since back then everyone just picked the same characters

What we learned from Mugai Baso when playing MVC2: - The MVC1 tactic on Zangief(multiple Aerial Russian Slam use) works well in MVC2 but fast paced - Mecha Zangief can still call assist even when being hit - Silver Samurai can use Ice Armor 3 times just to get Hyper Armor and his Koori no Ken just gotten powerful it even knocks out fighters on assist. - 12:40 - Cyclops got wrecked by Jin's Blodia Punch!!! Unblockable by the last frame. - 16:35 - Jin can cancel special moves into Blodia Vulcan! Good for baiting traps.

Yo Justin, Blackheart assist is a FOLLOW AND HIT ANY HEIGHT on the opponent ASSIST ATTACK. VS stuck above the screen opponents or even completely off-screen opponents, Blackheart hits the opponent. Via end boss of mvc2 last boss off screen attack or positioning.

Honestly, Justin--this should be a series, with you highlighting individual characters, their best players, and optimal tech for each. What separates @mugai_baso's Zangief and Silver Samurai from other top-level players? What are they doing/not doing differently that gives these characters potential?

We can see that antiair move, that is an innovation of this franchise, really helped him. It makes him similar to Hugo with that antiair grab. That makes it look like it was a good idea that he never gained a regular antiair move like that in mainline SF, that isnt a super (SFA and SF6).

I've been running a game club at the school I work at. Too games played? Soul Calibur (dreamcast), and MVC2 (PS3). Funny enough, I just started playing Zangief. Great timing for this video. 🤣

I really wanted to see more mid/low tier high level matches on 3S, CvS2, A3 and other retro fgs.

This reminds me of a fun team I made with Felicia Morrigan and strange in mvc3. The mixups with Felicia on point and kitty helper, with eye of agamotto assist, and having Felicias command grab? Was low tier at the end of the day but fucked ALOT of people up, lol. Block eye, and either kittyhelper overhead or cat scratch grab was gonna get you. Plus a solid strange and Morrigan. Morrigan on bar assist with Felicia meter charge meant so much bar that kitty helper was almost ALWAYS out. Games are fun when you don't sweat/duplicate top tier 24/7. This gief is AWESOME. Lmao

i used to play Zangief and war machine in mvc1 won 2 torunys with that team. and zangief in 2 was fun cause no one played him but me and no one knew how to play vs him lol. i only zangief in sf6 now just got it 3 weeks ago havent played a street fighter since super sf2.

I saw the cheddar gief and immediately thought it was Mike Ross

he called an assist, while being hit already inside a birthday party.... so all 3 of his characters were on screen. Thing with the grab assist is, if you are in block stun you cant block a thro assist. That repulsor blast can OTG and then you can use lightning off Silver Samurai, Omega Reds X or the hail storm by Storm.

Jwong should do a set against this guy using one of his janky teams. Jin, Hulk, ken, amigo. those were fun videos
