Fun safari zone fact: due to how it's programmed, throwing bait at chansey actually increases the catch rate, on top of lowering the flee rate.

I wonder how much this speedrun would be impacted by modern experience mechanics? Getting EXP from catching Pokémon and everything in the team gaining EXP (thus allowing you to stack up evolutions as you play and Blastoise would get stronger with all the extra EXP). I know Let's Go is kind of similar in this regard but still, it would be interesting 😊

I absolutely love fire red r2 it’s my favorite Pokémon speedrunning category to watch, in fact I’m literally watching Gunner run it as I type this comment. I’m psyched you made this vid!!

My favorite memory of this category is watching Werster imitate Pokemon cries while failing to catch Caterpie.

back in the day this was the randomizer category i ran. my best run was 8 hours, but i was no means a pro

So what you are saying is, *theoretically* there are stupid timesaves for catching certain pokemon if you are nagito komaeda specifically, but otherwise why try and save time on catches when there are more likely timesaves elsewhere If I had to run this I would probably be the idiot trying to throw pokeballs at stuff like snorlax and chansey

Any speedrun category that requires you to plan on your feet is going to be an exciting category to watch. Maybe I'll start watching some FRLG runners... Also now I'm curious just how different the LeafGreen route is!

I kinda wish you'd gone a little bit into what it means to "not be worth catching" earlier in the video, but eventually I caught on that you meant it was just too slow. But maybe I'm just tired- otherwise, it was a great video!

Does doing the nugget bridge glitch a few times worth it since you’ll be needing a lot of money for the game corner and poke balls?

That's only in HeartGold and SoulSilver. FireRed and LeafGreen don't have a clock system.

Unless my brain blanked the part of the video, did you say any of the times people have actually gotten? Would have liked a section showing the history of the times and how fast people have gotten it down to and maybe a breakdown of the current fastest time.

it's preference in most games. it only takes a couple frames off so it doesnt matter much. it only really matters in two games: emerald is much better as a girl since the rival 2 fight becomes way easier and the male rival says quite a bit less, and in heartgold, the girl is better because the catching tutorial takes less time. otherwise, in DPP, the girl is slightly faster, and in XY, the male is slightly faster but female is slightly safer. everything here i took from the pokemondb post "Why do old generation speedrunners play as the girl?" which cites its source, if you care about that

When showing the graphic of which Pokemon can be acquired before the credits, it is incorrectly showing that Tentacool is available but Tentacruel is not. There isn't anything preventing you from evolving Tentacool before the credits. Which by my count of the ones crossed out, also suggests the number stated was off by one.

Why was Tentacruel crossed out in the list of obtainable Pokémon? What did he do wrong? 😢

How does Pikachu count as 3 Pokemon? Pichu was introduced in Gen 2 and I thought that your caught total had to be Gen 1 pokemon.

He didn’t show sirfetch’d he showed galarian farfetch’d because you trade spearow for farfetch’d in the run and was visually showing that. Don’t know why he showed galarian version tho.

Still thinking zapdos needs a bit more looking into. I mean its quite good for actually dealing with lorlei and the strenghts electric types have. I understand that mewtwo is strong but j sort of train zapados on your journey so shouldnt it be a bit more leveled?? I mean u catch it at 40 when blastoise also around that level. Its slow leveling sure it uses lesser moves than balstoise. Its wierd but cant we manip another master ball if we want to?? If we get the ball before silph co from the market lottery we use zapdos to clear everything till mewtwo faster and can use zapdos for lorlei.

Squirtle makes it easier how? Charmander ftw

How not? They have to have multiple contingency plans and be able to pivot and play differently depending on how many pokemon they have at any given part of the game.
