I know very few people will believe me since i have no name in speed running, but Glittering Cave exit skip was actually created by me almost 10 years ago! Back when a lot of people were running X/Y, Eekcast, who is a speed runner and one of my friends was doing daily runs. I was watching him and noticed the potential skip. Initially, my suggestion was to get poisoned so you could die quicker in the Team Flare battle then quickly fall to a random wild Pokemon. He did this once and was amazed at the result. Ended up telling a few other runners who also started doing it. It's awesome to see the strat still used a decade later!

You think you’re old? When XY released, it was already 10 years after I stopped playing Pokemon (because I didn’t feel like upgrading to a DS).

Fun fact there was a time in Gen 6 VGC when there was the rollover between X/Y and OR/aS. ORaS helped to balance out the game after late X/Y Doubles OU and VGC. However, if you played on the cart, you needed the mega bracelet/ring that your character wears in order to make Pokemon Mega-Evolve. One player forgot about this and thought he was ready to compete from just trading over his Pokemon from X/Y to ORaS. In between rounds, he had to blaze through 1-2 badges of the game, just to make his already REGISTERED TEAM have a Pokemon which is actually capable of Mega Evolving. Because the team is registered, he could not even swap out the would-be Mega for something else.

Would like to mention that in Y, instead of the Tyranitarite in the Cyllage gym, it’s the Aggronite. So that would be one version difference in the run.

I always thought it was really weird how stingy the games that introduced the mechanic are with its Mega Stones. There is approximately 7 Pokemon you can Mega Evolve before the League in this game without an event: The Kanto Starters (Can only pick one), Aerodactyl, Lucario, Gengar and Ampharos, the rest being locked behind this stupid time-based post-game sidequest where the only thing you can even do with these Megas at that point is the Battle Maison.

Not me who spent too many hours trying to get 2 mill pokedollers for the Blastoise and Charizard mega stone only to find this out now... 😅

Unless you already have a save with the Steven's Shiny Beldum in it,is pratically impossible to do a healthy speedrun of Mega Stone Hunting,that incluing the Garchompite Flag Base hunt as well

Given that speedruns only use a single game it’s possible that the Garchompite would be cut for being unobtainable, unless if QR codes to unlock bases from online are allowed or there’s an NPC base somewhere.

I always love watching your speedrunning videos. I'm not a Speedruner because I like taking my time and searching every nook and cranny. That's probably why I gravitated to being an avid Shiny Hunter instead. I love Shiny Hunting. But you always make the videos easy to understand and it's fun to learn about another big part of the fandom.

Legends ZA better make obtaining mega stones way more interesting than finding it on the floor somewhere. Make it a significant event! Find it in a pretty crystal! Link the pokemon who mega evolves to it! Do ANYTHING to make it cooler!

At least is not on ORAS,if this Mega Stone Hunt Speedrun was in ORAS it took more than a year to get Garchompite,since you only get it if you achieve 1k Flags in your Secret Base,and the flags only respawn after 1 day has passed and changing the clock wouldn't help getting every flag even if you maxed the limit of bases in your list,so is fair to do it in X/Y after all

With 12 secret bases in your game you can get 1,000 flags in 84 days (1,000/12= 83 1/3)

@@UncalibratedAimbot yeah,but try to see that from a Speedrun perspective,since most speedruns began from a fresh save file,there's a whole trajectory you need to do before you get the Secret Power TM and also you will need to scan 12 QR codes to fully list all the bases there,you will have to search for the best and easy spots to farm those flags,if you can't obtain it every 12 flags in a day before they respawn again,will take longer to complete so the Speedrun will be massive completely breaking the time,did you see what i mean it,from a speedrun perspective would be impossible to do it in time

@@lancerotalucardhd8793 yes. My main point is that it’s much shorter than a year. I recognize that your comment might have been hyperbole, but in case you never ran the math it’s not actually a year. I agree from a speed run perspective that 83 days is a stupidly long time, especially since secret bases from qr codes don’t show up until the next day after you scan them. So really it would be 85 days total since the first day is you doing most of the run, then the next 84 days is you going to the secret meadow by the battle tower for 6 flags, and whichever other place has 6 easily accessible flags. If this actually tool 365 days I’m pretty sure it would be the longest speedrun

Try ancestral x. It's rom hack. Adds in the full national dex from the start, the Vegas from oras and pumps the difficulty right up.

XY feels like 5-6 years ago, not 10 ._. also, I went back to my most recent playthrough recently (which I thought was maybe 2020 or 2021) and it was 2017 o_o

I remember when I did a nuzlocke of Pokémon Y the only Mega Evolutions I got to use were Lucario, Venasaur, and Abomasnow.

Megastones was the peak of pokemon. Everything since has been downhill.

I feel like after BLDP they just dont feel comfortable with easy cheap remakes anymore. Which, honestly, good. Gen 5 got a scarlet and violet dlc tho, sad

This was the last pokemon game I played, and I didn't finish it. The bore zone was a real thing, so much pointless fruity dialogue about nothing.
