There are Pros I temporarily stopped watching because they were so negative about their "bad" guesses and I could not stand it any more... (The one I am thinking of in particular now seems to have gone through this phase and is at least a bit more self-forgiving, so I started watching him again). Fortunately Oscar was always more on the positive side!

The location selection is very good on 'A Varied World' (in terms of interesting rounds), but the distribution within a country sometimes feels a bit wonky (at least it felt like it the last time I played it). The more interesting looking areas of countries feel like they get over-represented even to a greater extent than other handpicked maps, which could be a problem for competitive play (since it leads to map metagaming).

i’ve been loving this map for the reason duels have been boring. idk if anyone else is realizing this but it feels like duels are just placing me in major (usually capital) cities and it’s just boring. this has been refreshing to play as it’s almost purely learning grass, trees, road lines, road size, etc. instead of just seeing a sign that says norway and then going oslo and you get 4900 points… all that is kind of boring.

also! been seeing this in nmpz too! someone told me they do that in moving and nm (for some reason, idk why) but even though it’s less, i feel like at least half of my nmpz duels are just major cities.

What's your rating? The map for duels also depends on your rating. I think they might be using the standard world for lower rated players, which does put you in major cities in most urban rounds

​@@bearnbunnyrlup until silver divisions it is indeed the world map for duels, from gold onwards its ACW and in champion it you get An improved world. Both of these maps are less likely to put you in capitals and major cities

@@EmonHerremans it seems ACW is also just bad then lol. but i swear when i was in master/champion a few months ago it was completely normal with a few urban rounds here and there but recently (before rank changes) i was still champion and it started to feel like there was a TON of urban rounds, more than usual.

@@zi8gzag I agree all competitors want a map that’s friendly to their own strengths. I guess my issue is when you are a commentator and someone who has access to devs and you are friends with Rainbolt and you both have influence over what is popular and commonly used. It’s hard to draw a distinction between the two roles though. And you 100% can have opinions and preferences, maybe sus wasn’t the right word.

Just spent an hour or so casually playing some nmpz on this map, I'm loving it. Its so hard to put 5 good guesses together. Got a 5k on some random Iceland valley and then went Korea on Chile... 10/10 experience. (It was a coastal location in Lota near Concepcion with 2 compact asian cars, a Hyundai and a Suzuki, it had a vibe idek) Definitely a 5050 I've never considered.
