Nostalgia... Ur so right most cooked meal for travel along with puliogre... With curd rice and pickles... Easy and healthy...
Honestly, even when my parents could afford the flights, we took the train, at least one way. I think their mindset was that it's part of being Indian. The train journey and trains are the lifeblood of this country and how a lot of the people travel. So it was a way to keep us grouned. For this reason we also took interstate busses and local buses too.

@@akshayperla7599 stop. Their children likes to call it that way. Can y'all stop blaming everyone, they're trying something new from our culture, appreciate them instead of correct each and every mistake they make.
I relate to the 3 day train journey. This video is like an ode to the my childhood!
I live in a greenhouse with banana trees growing. I love to cook with the leaves. The bananas only come once a year so it's nice to be able to use it for other things the rest of the year. The first thing I ever had with banana leaves were tamales in Mexico.
Indian food is literally the best food in the world. I’m an American of Eastern European/Germanic descent, and while I love my traditional cultural foods, absolutely NOTHING IN THE WORLD beats the intense variety, and complexity of Indian food. I’ve never once had a dish that I did not want to eat multiple plates of. I feel very thankful that I had parents who insisted upon us boys being exposed to different cultures through art, music, literature, and food. One of my goals is to take a few weeks or maybe a month and visit India, if for nothing else than the food itself. Plus I love spicy food, and Indian dishes tend to always bring the spice level into the stratosphere. ❤ 🇮🇳
The most lovely part of your videos is that they show the gorgeous synergy between food and emotion which takes you on a whole another profound journey of memories 🥺
In Indonesia, we have similar dish! It's called 'nasi kuning' which means yellow rice, but we don't use lemon

Wow, lemon rice, old memories 😋😋😋😋😋😋
Nothing can be compared to train journeys travelled with family…. 😍
Even a simple daal chawal made by my mum and especially fed by her (by hands I mean) tastes so much better than any luxury restaurant I have eaten at. Now that my mum is old and sick and can't do kitchen work... that is something I miss a lot and I wish I can eat one day again.
Got the same story, three days of train journey, lemon rice, pickles and curd packed in banana leaves. Ah the good old days!
I’m South Indian and this is so nostalgic for me it’s almost like an emotion- I will now proceed to go ask my mom for lemon rice

Omg train journeys. Idk about others but as an Indian I'll never NEVER stop travelling on trains. It's a whole different journey
I remember when I was little, I would think my mom was able to harness the color of the lemon and put just enough lemon juice in there to make my rice yellow lol, it definitely brings back memories of me and my sister having it after school or for dinner!
Saw this yesterday and made it for dinner today and everyone loved it Thank you from me and my Family in Nepal 🇳🇵 ♥️ Please keep posting more 💕
I had friends during junior high who would always have variations of lemon rice and other similar foods and exchange lunches with me, so remembering the flavor and colors of this dish, while it may not be a part of my own heritage, fills me with nostalgia and reminds me of my childhood.

you just unlocked a core memory omg -- I remember those rides so well, especially during festival seasons where my parents would tell me play along with the random kid who happened to be in our compartment goddamn nostalgia
No matter how old I get or have access to easier modes of transport, sleeper train journeys will always my heart. I live in near the western ghats of Maharashtra and the train for my home town passes through them. I have no words to describe it's heaven like beauty, especially in monsoon. Unfortunately I rarely go by train.

Your childhood stories connect so well with mine. We used to travel on train for 3 days from Kerala to MP and that’s the same rice my Mom used to prepare for our meals, with an iconic coconut chutney though. Thanks for reviving those memories for me ❤️

I honestly think that one of the reasons I’m so interested in Languages is probably because it will be so much nicer to get to travel and hear people talk about stories like this without a language barrier as well as to taste the food and hear the expressions from everyone at this point I might just study linguistics as well as an anthropologist because this world is so big and beautiful that theres too much to learn and see

Sharing a similar experience over here: for us bengalis, summer vacations would always mean a five/six day trip to North Bengal. So we would always pack luchi and torkari in tin foils and foil tiffin carriers for the night long train journey from Sealdah station in Calcutta to New Jalpaiguri in the Duars. We would board the train, settle down, get comfortable and then bring out the luchi-torkari and relish it while trying to gaze into the darkness outside the train windows. And just like you said, no fancy cafes and fine dine restaurants can ever compare to that experience ❤️❤️❤️
It's called chitrannam in andhrapradesh. So when we go for trip my mom will prepare chitrannam or pulihora. Nostalgia
