I had not long read about these in one of the magazines back as a teenager and was out riding my bike, when a silver one of these cruised past, then foot down and thundered off down the road. One of the best sounding cars and its memory stuck with me ever since.

That’s a good point as this sort of special is generally always LHD only.

Ive only got the clk55 amg but i love it And the quad exhaust ive had fitted sounds amazing great cars very underated for the price

My uncle had one of these in New Zealand, was a weapon! I really loved the DTM with the extra aero. The engine noise was amazing, gearbox not the best but when i drove that thing i was just in love

Great video Jay. I've never seen one in the wild either.

I have yet to spot a CLK DTM in the wild, but I did see the next best thing; a CLK Black series! A month ago, I was walking on Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills at night, and I saw a red CLK Black Series idling on the side of the street!

Did you see if it had the naked carbon door trims inside or the regular CLK ones? AFAIK regular ones were a no-cost option if the carbon ones weren't to the customer's liking. I ask because I saw a picture of a red one with the regular door trims years ago

Actually, US regulations would not allow the full carbon fiber door trims due to crash regulations so AMG had to replace them with the CLK 55's leather trim but with Carbon Fiber accents(You know, because flakes of carbon fiber being splintered around in a collision probably isn't the greatest thing..) .

Curious to know what they did to the structure of the car and the chassis which seems to widely differ to the AMG. No doubt that plus the uprated drive train is where the money went.

Looks like it has the same 6 piston front and 4 piston rear Brembo brakes as a 'normal' CLK55 AMG ,,that shows how high the capability of a regular AMG can be.. 722.6 5 speed was used for strength,, ,,,Good video thanks..

Big fan of these ever since I saw one chasing a Carrera GT, very special.

I love that’s it’s the M113 motor 👌🏼 for my money I’m still buying the SLR with the same basic motor (M155) with different cams and heads.

I like how the fob ignition port is on the opposite side of the Start/Stop button in the right hand drive version. On the U.S. version the port is still on the right of the steering wheel, so you have to turn then push with tour right hand. The other way you can turn and push at the same time cause you can use both hands. Seems small, but when you drive both versions you notice how much it plays every time you start the car.

Was fortunately enough able to see a couple of uk owners using them on the GP track at the Nurburgring one silver one black!

The exhaust note is mega!

Im a AMG man, but 250k would go into a Zonda, for sure? Jenson and i had the same driving instructor - a claim to fame !

I'm quite a fan of another rather expensive clk, the gtr. The dtm isn't too shabby either

Same engine in my G55 AMG. The supercharger draws 100 horsepower from the engine and returns some 270.

This is most beautiful MB coupe even in its original form. I still can't wrap my head around why they introduced that tiny c window on latter versions.

just saw the CLK Black Series in Dawlish Devon, not sure if it was a real one because there are kits on line for about £1500 but it looked amazing and it had that lovely grunt from the engine. I don't like the rear aches on this DTM as they look wrong compared to the black series.

I did suggest, in the realms of fantasy island a 959, but this is far more realistic, if I were rich because I'd buy it and be willing to use this occasionally, a 959 would just be an investment car like a 177 for the same sort of money. This car is stunning.

They made 100 hardtops, 60 LHD and 40 RHD, and 100 convertibles. Not sure the ratio of convertibles in LHD : RHD - This has been my favourite Merc for a long time, its so, so cool and rare!

Well, now I understand why you've not checked out Mercedes Benzes before, you're not a fan. Too bad, I love everyone I've ever owned, from my first car, a 1956 190 Ponton to the CLK 550 that's my wife's car and my CL 55 AMG. Great cars, one and all. Truly.

Makes me proud of my humble clk profile...like lab pups they're all pretty and all desireable.
