What are you thoughts on The CLK DTM? Cool low-production AMG or overpriced CLK?

A little of both. A cool piece of history, but an m113k swap into a w209 chassis would be way cheaper. Less Mercedes-nerd clout to that, obviously.

Stunning content, as always. 👌 Fun fact: Number 10 is owned by a paraplegic driver here in South Africa. A right-hand-drive CLK-DTM, with hand controls. Unsure of the whereabouts of this vehicle currently or if it still has the original owner.

Saw that in a documentary on T.V many years ago. I do see one for sale now by a dealer on Auto Trader...I wonder if it could be the same one.

This is the most expensive way to get a Mercedes with a m113k engine

I'm a Mercedes Benz guy that has a 04 clk base, but I like all the other clk unique design styles, my base might not be a AMG or DTM or Rentech, CLK320 car is my dream car, I wanted it for so long I finally owned one for 6 months got it detailed(it came out clean and nearly flawless, detailer said I had remarkable Mercedes paint work, (cleans or buffs out easy)), I prefer my semi analog technology Mercedes Benz instead of the new cars with electric power steering(no road feed back), "A TRUE GERMAN COUPE!" ... I prefer nothing else, I mean it. P.S. Seriously the seats are hard like rocks so I did need a lumbar support cushion, no longer had annoying thoughts of regretting of buying the car, because of the seats

Another excellent , informative video..As the owner of a CLK55 , it's nice to see the CLK 's getting some attention. I think the M113k engined cars would be the best choice ..rather than the more troublesome M156.

Yea! I have a CLK350 and i love it but i am already looking for a clk500,clk550, or clk55 :)

My dream car. I knew I wouldn't realistically afford one so ended up buying a W209 CLK55 AMG. By no means comparable but plenty of fun on the UK roads

@AMGmeister please do a Video on the CLK model range, I believe it has the most vast range of models of any car Mercedes has made, from everyday daily drivers(CLK 200-500) to sportscars(CLK 55 - CLK 63) to racecars(CLK BlackSeries ) to supercars(CLK DTM) to hypercars (CLKGTR ). There is basically a CLK that fits into any of the common car categories.

Holy shit I would love one of these. We have a 2014 C63 and it's a beast. But this thing is awesome. Never knew about the CLK the fact it only weighs about 18 pounds more then our car and has that much more horse and torque. Absolute monster. Gotta be a fun car to drive.

Yes , probably a project to build some for the aftermarket in Germany. I like the form. Perhaps better airflow.

Your videos make me so sad, to imagine what it was like 16 years ago and to have been wealthy enough to have owned these golden era Mercedes from new on less congested roads. I was only 7 but that doesn't matter!

Remember that episode well myself. The car belonged to him personally. But I believe it was the Black series, not the DTM. Do you remember him sitting on the pile of rocks and explaining that's basically what it's like to ride in one?

@@Hamza-or7jm Yes, the M155 was m113k derived but it is quite a different engine. On top of the changes you mentioned, the oil system is dry-sump like a racing car on the m155 in the SLR. The engine in the DTM is definitely closer to the E55/SL55 than the SLR.

Was HWA where customers had their cars sent to for AMG treatment before the W202 put an AMG in every dealership? Sorta like special order AMG? Idk..

The CLK 430 AMG in my opinion is the best looking Mercedes of all time

As of this video the lowest one on the planet is $300k (USD) and as high as $500k. And the Magma Red car is almost $700k

@@high5compliments45 see here’s the problem with your statement and mind sets. You don’t see these cars everyday this is not a CLK 55/63, these are real DTM cars you have to know what a collector car is when you see one son, learn before you speak.

It's basically the same engine as the SLR which is even more stagering

Not quite. While the DTM has almost as much power as the SLR, the engine is not as good. The SLR's engine is called the M155 and it has a dry-sump oil system and much better cooling. I talk about the M155 in my video on the SLR.

@@AMGmeister I get wat u mean but its a varient of the 113 engine in the all 500, 55, CLK nd SLR. So if we consider the dtm (with heavy mods to the engine to be a 113) then the SLR shud qualify as one too. Pity we loosing all v8 AMG engines soon. V12s are already gone. I swear all 65s and some m156 engines will soon become collector items

@@kondjanegongo796 Yea V12's in the 65's will be special but they're still doing V12 on the Maybach platform. The m156 probably a bit too common to be collectable just yet? Maybe M159?

@@thatmatty231guy I think they will take a decade and once many have died off, it will become sought after. No one can afford a maybach so it's not common nd the v12 is not AMG tuned like the 65.. A car like the 2005 SL 65 R230 is so cheap now yet has that brutal engine. Pity the trans sucks

Engine in the SLR is called the M155. Much more of a racing design, dry sump oil system etc.
