Hey! Maybe an idea for a video. A lot of us (i assume, haha) are doing martial arts for fun, as a hobby. And a lot of us are afraid of injuries (minor ones and of course major ones). Can you make a video about that topic? Injuries? Maybe you can talk about the injuries you got from the years of martial arts training and how to prevent them/how to treat them. But, again - it's just an idea off the top of my head!

What kind of injuries, are you talking about? I think he did a video about preventing injuries in his jiu jitsu video, where he shows his massage stuff, which was pretty interesting by the way.
@PaMuShin

Are you afraid of Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE)? anterior cruciate ligament (ACL)? Hand, Shoulder, Neck/Back injuries? Most of this stuff does not happen if get a good instruction as a beginner and build yourself slow and carefully. Jeff always tells people to not spar with bullies. I sometimes tell people to not fight while injured. But most people seem to have a lack of sense regarding their body. The wrestler Sting said shortly before his retirement, that the reason he survived for so long is that he did not try to force his body with steroids and that he asked himself every day, what can he do and what can he not do. There are always little signs you gonna see with experience, like how much breath do you get after stairs or how does it feel if you lift something. If you are not fine then first care about that. but in my opinion most people fail cause they go with the attitude that they do not need people to instruct them or have inexperienced trainers.

There is this one rule in fighting, PROTECT YOURSELF AT ALL TIMES. It is worth meditating about that in regard to what it means and what you can do about it.

I can recommend Jesse Enkamps video on PREHAB. His mother has a karate dojo and is working in the medical field. So he knows, what he is talking about. His video is called >> avoiding injuries is easy, actually
I've been watching your sparring videos for as long as I have been training, which hasn't been too long I gotta admit, but it has given me so many ideas of things to try and also how to deal with certain types of fighters during sparring. I've been improving a lot, and that's in part thanks to you!

*Wow Jeff, seeing you spar, gives me confidence I can improve. The challenge is that at our gym, the Instructor doesn't do sparring for beginners, but goes straight into intermediate / advanced when it comes to sparring and it gets overwhelming and instead of focusing on trying things out, I end up evading and defending all the time, sometimes moving away too much.*

Jeff, brother, I need your wisdom! How do you know what to throw!? Whenever I spar, I go blank and randomly through strikes that don't seem to work! Is this just lack of drilling? @@MMAShredded You're an officer and a gentleman, Jeff! My goal is to be a warrior like you and beast like Will Ratelle! Hahaha!
So I've done Brazilian jiujitsu, but I am just a beginner when it comes to stand up (I know *a little bit* and more grappling than striking). How do I learn to move the way you are moving and throw combinations like you do? Where do I even start? I am familiar with the jab, cross, hook, uppercut, side kick, high kick, knee strike, elbows, etc. But when I try to do even light sparring, I act like a total klutz! Could you recommend instructional materials or videos? Do I practice footwork, hit the bag, lift weights or all of the above? What's a realistic goal for a novice like me?
@MMAShredded
22 күн бұрын
I would start with footwork and distance management!! And yes basics like the jab cross low kick etc. footwork and distance control is most important with single strikes, then you can slowly up the combinations but even then I don’t throw big combinations unless I rock my opponent or they shell up
1:43 i love throw that Superman jab + cross + high kick combo too. (im your #1 mexican fan )

hey jeff fan of many years here, I would be a pretty high level amateur mma fighter here in ireland. Just a question for a video idea. Could you do a guide on dealing with very kick heavy opponents. Distance management and catching those kicks! You catch and sweep once, your opponent will def start kicking less. But it’s all dependent on their skill level

DJ needs to stop dropping his rear hand when he's backing up. He goes into some weird philly shell stance whenever he's backing up and being pressured. Good shit tho.
