Hey! Maybe an idea for a video. A lot of us (i assume, haha) are doing martial arts for fun, as a hobby. And a lot of us are afraid of injuries (minor ones and of course major ones). Can you make a video about that topic? Injuries? Maybe you can talk about the injuries you got from the years of martial arts training and how to prevent them/how to treat them. But, again - it's just an idea off the top of my head!

Are you afraid of Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE)? anterior cruciate ligament (ACL)? Hand, Shoulder, Neck/Back injuries? Most of this stuff does not happen if get a good instruction as a beginner and build yourself slow and carefully. Jeff always tells people to not spar with bullies. I sometimes tell people to not fight while injured. But most people seem to have a lack of sense regarding their body. The wrestler Sting said shortly before his retirement, that the reason he survived for so long is that he did not try to force his body with steroids and that he asked himself every day, what can he do and what can he not do. There are always little signs you gonna see with experience, like how much breath do you get after stairs or how does it feel if you lift something. If you are not fine then first care about that. but in my opinion most people fail cause they go with the attitude that they do not need people to instruct them or have inexperienced trainers.

So I've done Brazilian jiujitsu, but I am just a beginner when it comes to stand up (I know *a little bit* and more grappling than striking). How do I learn to move the way you are moving and throw combinations like you do? Where do I even start? I am familiar with the jab, cross, hook, uppercut, side kick, high kick, knee strike, elbows, etc. But when I try to do even light sparring, I act like a total klutz! Could you recommend instructional materials or videos? Do I practice footwork, hit the bag, lift weights or all of the above? What's a realistic goal for a novice like me?

  • @MMAShredded

I would start with footwork and distance management!! And yes basics like the jab cross low kick etc. footwork and distance control is most important with single strikes, then you can slowly up the combinations but even then I don’t throw big combinations unless I rock my opponent or they shell up

How exactly could we tell, that he was training under your supervision? His style does not show any of your key techniques, he even has a different stance than you. And he still keeps his eyes up while headmovement to trace the movement of ya, instead of letting you run into him and get trapped.

Looks a little sloppy to me, by Jeffs standards anyway. Maybe he's being challenged to the point his technique and compsure dips a bit.

DJ needs to stop dropping his rear hand when he's backing up. He goes into some weird philly shell stance whenever he's backing up and being pressured. Good shit tho.
