I recently retired from terrestrial radio. To hear evidence of how big of a deal our business once was just blows my mind. Those guys were really stars. Over-the-dial radio is basically run by a preservation society these days.

It would also be a good idea to take some extra batteries to the underground shelter, wouldn't it? That way if the radio's batteries die, you can change them and still get information.

Amen...even in 2021, the need for extra AA and AAA batteries cannot be overstated. Extra charger packs for mobile phones,laptops, and tablets are necessary as well.
