WHY I OFTEN DON'T MENTION OTHER BRANDS IN MY VIDEOS.
You may have noticed that I often don't mention the original brands that watches I am reviewing pay homage to. This is very intentional and not meant to offend you or the original brands. I lost my first channel in October 2020 which I had spent 9 months growing and invested a significant amount of money in simply because I had mentioned the original brands in some of my videos. There are people who try to use KZreads lack of understanding when it comes to the difference between homage watches and fake watches to attack other channels and their owners and sadly I fell foul of this in 2020. This channel was also attacked recently and KZread deleted content simply because I had said 'subby homage' and 'Rolex homage' in two videos despite the watches in the videos being perfectly legal homage watches. Please understand that I can not afford to risk my channel so I will no longer be mentioning other brands when reviewing homage watches.

I recently modded my Addiesdive quartz diver to VH31 movement. Idk why brand don't have it as an option. Accuracy of quartz and 3 year between battery change with sweeping seconds hand we love about mechanical watch.
I would say the Escapement Time GS homage is even better and cheaper , or the San Martin Flieger ( i have the type B dial ) which get at 110$ on sale and it's automatic ( nh35/yn35 )
Very nicely done watch Gary, and that quartz movement is better than the standard tick per second. The capped handset is a nice addition. The bracelet looks ok, but it might be better to save the money and go with the leather and even change that for a better one if it's not great. Though on second thoughts maybe the bracelet is worth the extra few dollars. Excellent review as we expected!
It is a nice looking watch, with a good movement and a good price, but that unicorn..... not for me :/
I'd get this, but my ET still stands in pride amongst my other watches. Glad you're on your white dial phase, it's classic (and classy!). Stay on the VH31 phase too, hope we'll see more and more of these. Cheers Gary, be well mate.

I hope we soon see dive watches with this movement. Just imagine a 38mm dive watch rocking a durable, pick up and go sweeping quartz.

It nice to see a quartz watch. If I was still looking for a dressy/sporty watch I would get this.
Very interesting watch. Some design cues to different Seiko models: case flanks, 4 o'clock crown and the long bracelet links are reminiscent of the Marinemaster minus the monobloc case back, while the hands are inspired by Grand Seiko of course.

That case and undercut is sort of MM300-ish. Maybe it's a MM100? It looks good, and the VH31 is a winner, but FFS Proxima - DROP THE UNICORN. We are grown men* *(most of the time).
Just to think the average guy in the street will go into the local jeweller and buy rubbish for twice that price. Very nice indeed
Shame there is lume only on the automatic versions otherwise an instant purchase for such a well priced watch.

Gotta love a nice white dial! Bought a Pagani Daytona homage with the panda dial, and when I first put it on, I was surprised how much I liked the white dial. Picked up a Zelos Mako Frost recently too, so another nice white dial in the collection now too! Except I don't mind wearing the Zelos in public, lol!

They need to move the hour markers closer to the center of the dial, remove the quartz text and sign that buckle. The dial looks way too big for the case size, mostly because of the marker spread and the white tone
Clasps and crowns do not need branding contrary to what most KZreadrs push for. Having a branded dial and caseback is more than enough. Personally, I wouldn't even brand the dial. 4 ticks per second means shorter battery life, which is a negative. Love that this is a small affordable quartz with a white enamel dial!! We need more small light thin quartz and fewer big heavy bulky automatics.

There are so many of these basically sterile watches with applied polished inecies and polished hands and they're all really great. I don't think there is enough variation at this watch vs escapement time vs some of the $500 options to justify the price difference. I'd probably go with escapement time.

Only gripe with Proxima watches I have (except the Capricorn) is the bracelet link length. Those are to big IMHO to be nice fitted and look silly on a 6-7 inch wrists.

Agreed. Especially when you include that big clasp, you end up with around 5 links.
I love mecaquartz movements but can't abide by their lack of date complications. Without that feature it's not a grad and go watch IMHO.
Never had a problem with the unicorn personally, don't really see what the fuss is about

If only Proxima worked on improving their branding. Both logo and font need to be renewed. San Martin with their subtle hexagonal applied logo is the way to go. I would deffo buy one of these lovely watches if Proxima were to address that unicornephant in the room.
I know it is sacrilege, but the unicorn logo is growing on me 😁 . Nice watch for the money. I particularly like the hands, but they are too short, the hands on the Academic are much better 😎

Why use a movement that simulates automatic and then put " quartz" on the dial?
the issue with their logo is that although it is not the best, the dial looks better with it rather than without it. Without the logo the dial looks a bit empty and they tried to fix it by changing the word Proxima to all caps. I dont think it worked. just my opinion.

Seems very decent value for the look. Seeing those hands, they look sharper around the edges than the images from recent microbrand launch from Monbrey, who seem GS inspired as much as their wedge design claims. I've never quite understood why enamel is seen as so special, as one of the most typical enamelling techniques gives us very cheap camping crockery for example. So not all enamel is made equal, that much is for sure. I know the grand fue technique is the prized one, but are there differences in cold enamelling? I reckon so. A propos, why don't more brands cap the pinion? So very odd to see it here but recognising it's far from common practice or expected even among luxury watches.
Nice watch, do not mind the unicorn, but why the need to write "Quartz" on a dial, and specially if you have a sweeping hand movement?? Regards Gary

Is it really enamelled? Hard to tell but doesn’t look particularly like it.
I’m actually a big fan of no lume. I think n the lack of lume strips on the hands looks better and classier. If I need to tell the time in the dark I’ll just pull out my watch. Loss of lume function for what I consider superior looks is a good trade-off for me.

I just don't understand the use of the My Little Pony unicorn 🦄. The font is a bit off too, something more classic with serifs might suit the watch better. No lume? What? Why not? Other than those three things it is rather appealing.
i would rather have a quartz watch or even an ecodrive than an automatic, unless it has an exhibition back and the screws are all colored blue and red like a seagull that is the one reason i would keep an automatic. now when i say quartz i don't mean digital because they aren't nice looking at all

@@darkki94 I know what you mean, but I've seen those VH movements for less than $9, and those NH movements are around $45-65. So they can make watches a fair bit cheaper with those movements. Even though they are already cheap.

@@garyk8285 considering you can get an addiesdive (basically steeldive ) type A flieger that is full SS , 200m WR, sapphire crystal and nh35 driven for under 80$ and on some sales for 60-70$ .

Hey, Gary. I really must disagree with you on one thing (two, actually, because I like the unicorn.) I find $30 for a bracelet to be ridiculously high, given that so many AE brands charge either $5 - $10 or nothing at all. Hell, even San Martin, who are not afraid to get paid for their stuff, only upcharge $15. I fear that you're only encouraging bad behavior when you announce a $30 bump to be "good value." ✌️❤️⌚

Straum charge £300 ($375) for a bracelet for their watch…now $30 looks like good value…..it’s all relative…I’m gunna stick with my first thought…it does represent good value.

@@ilikewatches Oh, I'm aware. I would have had to pay Victorinox $300 if I hadn't found a replica bracelet for my Dive Master 500 at around half that. I just mean that, amongst AE brands, when getting a bracelet amounts to 30% of the watch's price, I don't want to see that become the trend. Wasn't trying to pick a fight. ✌️❤️⌚
