My exbf broke up with me via phone after I designed his new apartment - where I was supposed to live with him. He waited one month and broke up with me. After 1 week he had new gf. He just needed me for assets. We have never even argued and it was so “perfect”. Now I know I was blindsided and just used during 2,5 years of relationship. It sucks because I didn’t see anything was wrong - he was just lying through his teeth all the time. Master of camouflage. At the end he told me he was never good in relationships and he has no empathy to anyone.

The moment I know something isn’t right I tell the guy. I wouldn’t be able to lie for years I mean time is precious. One day after breaking up with me my ex is on hinge, this is after telling me he needed to be single for a long time to process the baggage from his 5 year relationship. I think if we women are honest with ourselves, we do this too when WE are not in it for the long haul anyway. I've done it. Used something minor that he did or said to bail out. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's been going through this..

I've just experienced this, and it's been terrible. I became friends with a boy i had no interest in initally, he is emotionally unavailable (got cheated on + doesn't want a relationship) but wanted to get to know me so bad anyways. Showered me with compliments, flirted every day, texted me all day and kept me up at night. He cuddled me, gave me forehead kisses, we almost kissed once and i felt the tension between us. I fell head over heels for him. Then he started getting colder and colder, claimed to be busy, and in the end told me I had misunderstood everything and basically friendzoned me, even if i didn't tell him i liked him. Throughout the whole time he told me he was afraid, confused, but his fears were compensated by the desire to get to know me. He told me we "teased each other too much and too fast". Worst experience I've ever had in a while, it's painful to see how he doesn't care about me now😭 i wanted to talk to him but he said he was busy. Now we're not talking but I'm in pain and I miss him often, i have no idea why would anybody do this to another person. Ps: i'm 1 year older than him and also way prettier, so it's definitely his loss😌but it's still so humiliating to be lead on like that

Listen to him. I've actually experienced that uncertainty shit for real. It never goes away. You might get to know each other well, hang out, really enjoy each other's company but that uncertainty will never allow him to commit to you. He might never really get what he's looking for and eventually settle for someone anyway, but it's probably not going to be you.

Men do this even when they don't have to do it. Case in point: Got out of a bad marriage and quickly reconnected with an ex ( I broke his heart eons ago). I told him I just wanted him for sex, and he was down with it. Then he kept making references to being in a relationship in the future and I shot it down every time b/c I didn't believe him. Even said he loved me and had feelings for me. He was very persistent, so when I finally let my guard down and believed him, on came the games. Made no sense for him to lie b/c I never asked him for a relationship or even said the word relationship, but obviously I wasn't going to jump out of a marriage into a serious relationship right away. Once I finally believed it and made it known, cold shoulder.

@Danielle M True, but I eventually got on his page in terms of wanting something serious (if he was even being sincere to begin with). Maybe it was all about the thrill of the chase. Wouldn't be the first time I've seen that happen in general. Last I heard, he immediately started pursuing his two decade long booty call as a GIRLFRIEND right after I ended the FWB arrangement b/c I wanted to date men who were looking for a relationship. You'd think if he meant what he had been saying he would have said he'd want something serious w/ me but nope; chose chasing dysfunction. They've already broken up multiple times since coming back together less than 4 months. It made me realize how broken he himself was that he'd tell me I'm wife material and "has feelings for me", yet would pursue something shaky with someone he's never thought enough of to make an official gf until 20 yrs later and there's no solid foundation. He said he's "trying to date her" but she doesn't want to date him a couple weeks ago when I confronted him about it (his best friend snitched). I just let it go last week and have started dating and exploring again.

Someone please help. This is my situation and I don’t know what to do. I have no idea where to even begin. I had been talking to this guy for 7 months, we were long distance. We met once in person, and we’re planning a visit together just last week. We talked EVERYDAY. Morning to night. He would initiate all the texts in the morning and we would talk all day. I have enjoyed our time together the last few months, but I'm in a place where I cannot continue down this path. It's not your fault, and it's not something that can be changed or worked through. It is something I've thought about carefully. I will miss you and I hope that you thrive” Then he blocked me on everything including social media. Refused to take my calls and didn’t even let me respond. I don’t understand what I did wrong. He knew how vulnerable I was, he helped me through some heavy stuff and I even told me just last week “I am scared of getting hurt please don’t pull the rug from me” and he said “I would never do that to you, trust me, the only way you get rid of me is if you block me. I am not going anywhere” and then he did that. I don’t even know how to proceed. I feel like my hearts been ripped out.

What if you dated for five years and then he breaks up with you over text and blocks you immediately? We lived together for two years and he just took all his stuff while I was at work. He said he had been unhappy for a while and I thought everything was great. Apparently he had been just agreeing with me and not communicating anything he really thought or felt. I really feel so lied to because of that and can’t understand what went wrong. We had a great connection and looking back I can see how he just was hot and cold for the last 7 months or something of the relationship. He would act fine and happy and then distant. I feel so blindsided and hurt. He hasn’t even talked to me since he sent that text and has just been living his best life and pretending I don’t even exist. How do you even get past this kind of pain and betrayal? I thought I was going to marry this guy.

I did the same thing with a time waster who kept playing games but I didn’t wish him happy birthday, I cut all communication. You didn’t mess up but he knows you were thinking about him now so you fed his ego. If you can, maybe try not to contact him again if you already know he’s not serious about a relationship

Interesting you would use childhood antics as a comparison for this. Because it's childish. If someone intentionally creates an illusion to access sex - they had sex with someone who could not give informed consent. What do we call sex with someone who can't consent? Same as if there was no intention to deceive but violated the boundaries they agreed to in order to have a sexual relationship. Let's call it what it is.
