I love shot 3! That’s my pick. I would definitely not be happy driving with the wall thickness on those holes for the seats though, the threads would get ripped straight out god forbid you’re in a collision. I would’ve just drilled all the way through with an 8mm bit and user a longer m8 bolt, washer and nylock nut on the other side👍🏻

@@sketchyautoshop7621 There's nothing sketchy about those harnesses though? Fixed back seat, shoulder straps are mounted at the correct height to a dedicated harness bar, and a full cage fitted as well, minimising the risk of roof/A-pillars caving in on a rollover and crushing his head whilst harnessed in. No anti submarine strap, but this can be mitigated by correctly setting up the 4 point harnesses

With the hole for the seats I would drill through the box section and run longer bolts through to the other side and use nyloc nuts. They won't be going anywhere then!

I work as a machinist and u need about 3 threads to get the complete strength of the bolt holding it down. So i would recommend either getting a longer bolt that goes all the way through with a nut on the back or welding another plate so u can get in a couple more threads. The cupra is sick btw!!

Mint getting other people involved in doing bits of filming. Also I would probably get a cap nut welded into the seat rails or just bolt through and out the bottom. Print 1 is my favourite

Hey buddy, love the progress! Just wanted to say, I’d be reluctant to go with the seat subframes bolted into the box steel with those tapped threads; not a huge amount of bite to it in the event of shear load Could you drill through both sides of the box and send a bolt up from the bottom into the seat subframe hole, out the other side with a nut on the end? I respect you mentioned going for a captive solution later on. Stay safe!

Looking at that piece of box you have bolted it to I’m thinking it’s 2mm mild steel that could withstand a yield stress of 175ish MPa ,were normal road car seat mount range from 550 MPa to 1500 MPa i think . Would be a good idea to get another square tube made up with the threaded plug in the correct place for your new seats. 👍

Third photo is my personal favourite, and yes you should get some more material to hold the seats down!

It’s safer than using cable ties and wood to hold the seat in... but a captive nut... or send it straight through the box section with bolt and nut will do fine

Shot 3 shows motion best. I think you need more thread though maybe longer bolts going through other side? Recaro are always king on euro cars, the times I've been to E38 show sitting in the Recaros dreaming lol....

Use Rivenuts to secure your seats, they are a lot easier to use compared to welding, plus it's cheaper 😂 love the videos, keep it up. Also I like number 3 of the drive by shots
