To answer people asking about Greg’s info: He’s retired and isn’t looking to take on a bunch of projects, so we left contact info off intentionally. He could easily do this full time and he’d have a great business but until he wants that we’ll keep it low key. ;)

Learning to work on guitars is a great skill for a player. I’ve found it not only saves a lot of money, but allows you to have that elusive guitar that feels, sounds, and plays just how you want it.

I'm currently reshaping and putting a blowtorch burn finish on my PRS. Already reshaped and now doing more. If I'm lucky, it won't resemble a PRS at all when I'm done.

Lol, i remember being around 6 or 7 and my mom coming into the living room to the phone in pieces. Luckily, i was able to put it back together. I also got in trouble because i took the neighbors lawn mower engine when i was ten because i wanted to build a robot. I got in so much trouble. But the neighbor was nice, and i never touched anyone's property again. So it's not the worst lesson to have learned. But as soon as i buy my house I'm finding an old c&c machine and making my own guitar. Pickups, too. I'm buying the machine for my birthday.

Nice, love this kind of stuff. I ordered a Jem clone DIY kit from Alibaba.... and ended up getting a semi-hollow dual humbucker bigsby telecaster... I'm in the second process of painting it. It's got a nice wood grain on it that I I've painted with thinned acrylic so you still see that. It's a lighter purple. The body is a dirty oil color really dark brown/grey. I'm about to sand down the first coat of clear to smooth it out. Going to finish that then get started on the neck. The kit was $140, but I bet I can build it better than a cheap off the shelf jobby. Love how both of your guitars came out. Getting it just right is the fun part of owning guitars.

That’s some amazing craftsmanship. I’ve not seen reshaping before. The paint and gloss is amazing, but doing the weight relief and body changes really make these unique.

Goddamn Mike I’m jealous! That frankenstein Kramer is for me the perfect nod to Eddy while being pretty unique on its own, and sooo beautiful. Really putting the “art” in “the art of guitar”. Would love to see more stuff on 80s shred using that beast :)

I think you are correct about the Les Paul Junior. I have a 1955 Les Paul Special, and the neck is well worn/thinner. I love the feel. Also in the Mpls area hehe. Car storage = bad idea.

I saw a kramer with those "designed by seymour duncan" pickups and a floyd rose 2 (the string through one) at a pawn shop with a replaced neck, it was interesting, and your custom van halen thing reminded me of that.

That B.C. Rich is one of my favourite guitar designs ever. Though, I would probably stick a neck with a pointier headstock on it, maybe a Jackson or Kramer. A bit like buying a watch: you're buying the watch, not the strap - you're buying the guitar, not the neck! 😅

It's all subjective. I think it looks really nice and the idea of the 'negative' of the original has come out great. Would rather have this than a frankenstrat clone that anyone can buy off the shelf. Also, the idea of looking like a 'poser' - who cares. You're only a poser if you do something purely for looks, but this is all about having a great final instrument that you enjoy playing and are proud to own. Nothing wrong with that.
