UPVOTE for visibility! Important Update with this build (lvl 97). I haven't pushed above t50 dungeons since I'm not done with my paragon board so haven't challenged myself yet, but for anyone running this build you can make small changes here and there and the build could be experimented with. Not gonna cover every detail but some important changes I made and gear I went with. These changes made the build feel even smoother, more fun, and more engaging when a mob fight goes longer than it should. I was running smoke for a while but recently replaced it because I'm not the biggest fan and didn't find it to useful other than initiating a mob, and unlikely to make use out of it during longer duration fights other than stagger for boss. I'm also not running the exact gear/aspects, I wanted the build to be more chill/frozen focused for more CC/cold damage. I wanted to switch it out for either a trap skill or dash. I don't like poison trap because the aoe is just to small and just made more sense with poison imbue. I found possibly a better alternative. After a few dungeons with Caltrops-enhanced-methodical, I can say this is much better suited for this build, especially when you change a few things up. By using FROSTFEEDER glyph, paired with PENITENT GREAVES, cold damage is massive, and CC through cold is easier to apply. Switching out grenade for caltrops makes this even better because methodical can apply chill and frozen making the combination of everything much much better in terms of synergy. Only using 4 glyphs but still experimenting with this. Contol/Closer are mandatory to simplify things. Frostfeeder I think is a must if you want to make the smaller changes I made. So that leaves infusion and canny left and I'm not sure yet which one I prefer. I kind of just been swapping between them. I'm on infusion right now because I wanted to help CD with imbue skills because when a fight dragged on I was left with just flurry basically which sometimes would take away from the fun. Although with methodical caltrops I may be better off going back to canny for the extra CC, plus the fights are more engaging with caltrops since I find myself popping them more often. So that makes glyphs: Control/Closer/Frostfeeder/Infusion or Canny in level of importance. Skill tree is about identical other than one skill change and I think I made another small change. I opted for daggers which I'll get into why below, so I didn't find weapon master as useful. I took the points out of weapon master and threw them into malice and exploit (I have an extra 3+ for an amulet which is a nice damage increase for exploit at 6/3 at 36% extra damage). For gear: In general just get the best stats you can and aspects that make sense. Focus a bit on some defensive, look out for Vuln dmg, anything CC related, crit chance/dmg, I think most of it works fine for this build. I wouldn't over complicate it, just go for preference really. You'll likely switch it up overtime anyway. GLOVES: Here you can experiment like I did, as there are viable options for this build. Frostburn would synergize with this build even more for the extra CC/Cold dmg. But I think this depends on how good your roll is. I saved these but I'm actually using grasp of shadow as I think it's more useful and more my style. Although I haven't used frostburn much if at all, I just prefer the vuln dmg, 3+ lvls for core, and att speed and extra shadow damage. Another alternative is fists of fate which I used for a while with grenade and because the build is already a bit lucky hit chance focused, but I prefer Grasp/Frostburn if you're leaning into the changes. All are viable, try them all I'd say. BOOTS: Penitent Greaves for the chill. HELM: Cowl of the nameless for better CC. DAGGERS: Not mandatory but ASHEARA for lucky hit chance synergizing with other gear, CC, and attack speed made the build feel better. If you find a amazing rolled sword or dagger you can opt for that if you want. CONDEMNATION I think is mandatory and a staple for this build. OVERALL I think these changes made this build really S-tier in terms of fun/clearing. Your build is still a good starting ground, but more A-Tier leaving room for small but even better changes to it. For anyone looking for an improvement on this build and already loves the play style I recommend this 100%.

Yes I myself was a victim of the bandwagon as well The trapper build it's not really cool to look at you don't even get to use your imbuement skills and effectively utilizing twisting blades involves more dexterity than I am in possession of fortunately I've save the majority of aspects and gear that I need to transition to this build initially during the beta I went with flurry and really enjoyed it I just can't get the hang of twisting blades. It's unfortunate that I had to get to level 70 before realizing this.

Soo, at first I didn’t expect to much of it, but of boy i was so wrong. It works really good , the only thing i really saw is like in the negative side is the boss battle. But when comes to clear a dungeon is by far the best build i ever tried after the nerf of tb. Thx for the build man, you really helped me with this one.

You basically have to use cold imbue. Whether you go shadow or poison is optional but the cc is a must in 70+ level content.

hello, great build but I have an unanswered question I always have to use flurry when I have 3 combo points? or do i have to go up three combo points once and then let the finger press flurry to drain the energy?

If you have condemnation dagger I’d say yes, but that first initial strike should be 3 combo points always

I'm level 44 and using a variation of this build, but I only run Shadow imbuement. I'm using Caltrops with the Methodical rune to apply chill, then Concealment/ShadowImbuement to auto vulnerable and shadow imbue Flurry everything that's chilled in the caltrops. then, Shadow Clone to reset all the cooldowns, and repeat the cycle but with the Clone out. also, using the Imitated Imbuement legendary power to have my Shadow Clone also apply the imbuement to it's Flurries. it does the same massive bursts but also does better against Bosses. also use Preparation for this build, to keep Shadow Clone available as often as possible, and Momentum to survive between the huge cycles. you lose mobility without Shadowstep or Dash, but the defensive safety of Caltrops and Concealment make the down time between Shadow Imbuement timings less punishing. love seeing all the different Rogue play!

+1-4 to any imbuement skills! Those are your tier 4 skills

It’s nice that my BiHan character uses similar combo! I went for both Cold and Shadow imbuements to honor both Subzero and Noob saibot; was having a hard time keeping it but the smoke grenade shall definitely help! I am just worried, how do you deal with things like the Butcher for instance?

I could be mistaken but didnt they release a patch and stated that the Aspect of Unstable Imbuements was scaling wrong and essentially did more damage than intended? I dont know anyone else rocking it so would love to know how it feels today for ya if you get the chance. Build looks sick.

I've been using the same build since I hit 50, but I found that Smoke Grenade wasn't doing too much; I replaced it with Poison Imbuement because it benefits a heck of a lot from Imbued Skill Damage, which I stack on the build. I also found that Smoke Grenade didn't affect bosses, so I think you lose out on the entire skill when engaging there. It also does "good" damage to bosses as you can get the unlimited cooldown legendary aspect for Poison Imbuement

Most builds right now are actually better without ults, especially for rogue. Death Trap is cool to trigger the trapper passive and the pull is kinda nice, but you'll lose out on the necessary Daze from Smoke Grenade

Anything to increase core skill damage. Like the basic attack stacking one, or attack speed buffs, or shit even more defensives

A great build video... I am in WT II and only level 48... Would this build help me still? I know you are in the 60s, but you also stated that its good for players under level 50 etc... Would appreciate any help if you can. Struggling at the moment in certain parts of the game.

I'm struggling to know what build to go for while leveling up. This one looks interesting and I'm all for things that are easier (you said this flowed better than the trapper builds), but I'm put off by builds requiring multiple aspects (remember most people won't have them while leveling up) and builds where there are inherent flaws that leave you vulnerable. I also don't want to spend huge amounts of time swapping around potential builds as I level up because I won't get a good feel for using them.

Imo you should change up builds often while leveling. Get the feel for different abilities and the diff synergies. Or you can copy the same meta twisting blades build that everyone else is playing.

I agree that these endgame builds are generally terrible for leveling. I found that you have to prioritize single target damage as trash mobs aren't too much of an issue. If you die it's almost always going to be to a boss fight. I recommend Poison Trap for the knockdown on elites and general CC, Poison imbuement for big damage and most importantly put/have Aspect of the Protector on some piece of gear at all times (helm with a +1poison imbuement is nice). Dark Shroud is good for mobility and protection. Deathtrap can be 4th for damage as well. It's also nice to spend time doing side quests and exploration in every zone to get those tier 2 renown reward health potion quantity upgrades. If you do this it doesn't matter really what Basic/Core you use, bosses will be less frustrating when leveling.

i switched to this build at lvl 75. and it absolutely obliterates everything. i cant even test it in normal dungeons because everything dies after the frost flurry haha. thanks man.

I've been running nearly this exact build since pre launch. One thing, the amulet should have the Disobedience aspect until Blizz balances armor. Props for being the only other person to use Smoke Grenades besides me. Having an instant way to get mobs to behave is powerful. The elites are just babies when I hit them with it. They fall down and stay down because puncture can keep them on their backs. I'm currently experimenting with puncture in my flurry build. So far, impressive ranged AOE seems the norm.

So now we have an Ice Shards Sorcerer build for the Rogue. Also, T20 isn't really that high for softcore, although I can see how it could start getting dicey on hardcore. I really dislike having to rely on Vulnerability so much. My lightning Sorcerer does like nearly next to no damage in T20+ without it. It's like I'm tossing spit wads, but then as soon as I use Frost Nova (which on top of Vuln also adds a stun, which I double dip from since I use the vs Vuln/Stun/CC aspects), I blow up everything hit by it. Then I'm doing nothing until the next Frost Nova. In my build it's mandatory to have the aspect that gives two charges of it too.

Caltrops is probably my favorite skill to use. The animation and sound is so clean and satisfying. I’m waiting for some things to Aline before building it out because I find it annoying to use with twisting blades or flurry since it causes you to burn evade getting back into the fight. I’m thinking caltrops cold/shadow imbuement with penetrating shot or rapid fire. Ranged builds do a lot more when monsters get too scary to get close. Maybe in higher nightmare dungeons. As it stands the melee rogue is just too good to pass.

I am not sure about that smoke grenade, can I swap that to death trap ? Would make more sense to me they all get in a circle were I can jump in and flurry, plus the extra dmg from death trap, I don’t see why I need to daze enemies when they die in 4-5 seconds

Because later on in the game you get one shorted if you just shadow step in there. Death traps great, but damage isn’t your issue. Survivabikity is

Traps take 1.25 secs to activate and it's dropped in melee range. You will die before your trap even activate.

@@TheComebackKids I am later in the game 😄 currently lvl 77 I will test both with smoke and with death trap, I don’t have a lack of armor etc. I can run NM dungeons jump in a group of elites etc. but my dmg is not that much I need 2 or 3 rotations with my shadowblade build

Yep, this build is really damn fun. I like it much more than the twisting blades/trap build. I'm also basically unkillable. I have a helm with Defensive Aspect of Stolen Vigor, which for each stack of momentum, I get healed for 82 life per second. I have a chest with Aspect of Protector, which gives me a barrier that blocks 1900 damage. I also have legs with Aspect of Crowded Sage, which for every close enemy, i get healed for 17 life per second, up to 121. So I am getting healed for over 360 life per second. You can watch my health go down, and it immediately refills. I also have an amulet with Edgemaster's Aspect, which gives me 30% increased damage based on my energy level. So when I get those 4 seconds of unlimited energy, I'm also getting a 30% damage increase. Also a Ring with Expectant Aspect, which makes basic attacks give 7% damage to core skill, up to 30%, so if I plan properly, I could have 60% damage to core skills during the unlimited energy. I am melting nightmare dungeon bosses.

T3 is + to skills like agility skills (dash, shadow step, caltrops) T4 is + to skills like imbuements (frost, shadow, poison imbuement.) Sometimes on beat you will get pieces of gear that will give you +1 to that slot

can you give us the complete paragon guide for this build for reference? Also, I suggest you prioritize pathing towards the glyph socket rather than rare nodes since glyph is much more powerful.

Run dark shroud and upgrade it to so that you get 4% movement per active shroud - You get a 20% speed increase :)

Was skeptical at first but I managed to get the build close enough where I feel I can do T4 at lvl 69. Single target bosses still not great but stagger helps. if mobs are big enough I have to wait for cooldowns a bit more. But this is much more fun compared to TB which I can't stand.

Hay bro since u have the unique boots which I can’t wait to get u could remove your cold imbue points and put them in poison. Take the damage multiplier from the cold imbue for the extra damage to chilled frozen targets. Add the aspect to where poison further chills enemies with bursting venoms and everything will freeze on top of u with a lot more damage and give u better boss damage. This will be my build wit shadow ice an poison

@Mr Peanut i use this combo with tb I get plenty cc without the frost imbue the boots chill and and aspect of noxious ice further chills when u use poison imbue and freezes them the same. I’m guessing with poison imbued flurry the freezing is even faster plus the dot

Me too. My biggest issue with twisting blades is that it doesn't have a very obvious animation when used so I'd catch myself energy dumping into one mob by spamming twisting blades.

It’s tough!

I love this build that you made. I have been using it to level, only have 2 of the recommended aspects you recommended but I'm still doing fine on world tier 2. I dislike meta builds and always go for the underdog builds. Also I play Grim Dawn so I was looking for something similar to my nightblade ( frost/shadow melee) from that game. Really did not like the twisting blades, trap build, even in beta I dislike it after trying it, and disliked it more when everyone was recommending it as the best and implying you are wasting your time with any other build. @@visionofgrey As you get stronger it starts to become a destroy mob with cold imbue, shadowstep to the next mob and destroy with shadow imbue. Which is fine for me as it's still fun. I still do the rotation in elite packs but in normal mobs I'm usually just using one imbue at a time.

I am doing like 0 damage with this build, I do miss some of the aspects (icy alchemist for one), but I just.. Am getting nowhere near enough for one-shots, even on regular elites

could you make a poison-shadow variant? i think it would do well with that aspect where you could spam poison imbuement when you stand in a poison pit. Love the build tho and will surely compare and contrast this with the poison one im trying to build!

What about the cooldowns on the imbulment skills? I think thats why ppl still using TB to reduce the imbulment cooldowns ? Or msybe it doesnt matter cause everything dies in 3 seconds😂

The one for control damage, And exploit

“And here’s our big damage window..” Took almost only about 10% of boss entire hp. 🤣

Every build is good until you get to max level and start pushing nightmare really high. This is why the sorc falls off his horse very badly in end game, frost doesn't work well on bosses

Frost gives you a double damage window after reaching the CC bar. Anyway I have never struggled on bosses mainly on elite packs.

with the new changes especially for frost, shadow and vulnerability damage, is this build better, worse or just as good as before?

I think the one thing I don’t like about this build is just the downtime on DPS when your imbuments are on cd. It is fun and I love it but I just wish there was another option for reducing the cd on imbuments other then poison trap

I have been using flurry and rapid fire with dual imbuements. From my experience rapid fire melts single targets so much faster

I started using flurry because I liked it. Then I started using guides, and everyone says twisted blades, used them,but I didn't like itmuch. Now I see this one. Ice is my favorite element in any game and this uses that and flurry. So I'ma switch over now.

Ur not lacking AOE damage at all, you need the movement speed big time as well as energy regen
