This Fixed The Cheap Vintage Honda cr250 Dirt Bike (Part 2)

I end up digging into the clutch cover/ water pump housing on the 1986 Honda cr250 and find the culprit to the problems the dirt bike was having. #Honda, #Cr250, #Vintage,

Gorilla glue? Come on. Seriously. Man take it to a shop and have the crack drilled and tig welded. If not it will only continue to crack all the way around the pipe with the vibration.

@@2vintage one ride it may last. Once cracks start in alloys the onky thing that will stop the crack is drilling both ends and welding it. Even if you were to weld the crack, the base crack would continue. It has to be drilled at both ends. This completely stops the linear crack. Then have it tig welded as the repair. The coating will be destroyed from having to sand. It down. But,its fixed right. If tou choose to fix it right take it to someone with a reputation. Since base metals must be properly cleaned pipes can be an issue for the novice with all of the residues on the inside of the pipe. It can be mitigated by someone who knows what they are doing. If nkt the crack will continue around the entire diameter of the pipe depending on how It was originally built.Good luck.

@@only_yamaha9075 The way this guy is "fixing" stuff is the wrong way of doing it. His ways usaly does more harm to the bikes then a permenent fix. Just like in his last video. He started up the bike and let it run for 20+ minutes with no oil. only a litle coolent. ALL bearings inside the engine is now junk. Yes they will hold up for a few rides(top speed run and selling it to the next guy) And then the poor guy that buys that bike will have a total engine failure within a couple of houers of riding. And all that JB wield on the wather pump is the worst way of "fixing" it. Should have had it wielded or aluminium brased. And superglue on the exhaust is just stupid. it would hold up for a short ride or two, but 10-20 minutes of riding and it will fall off. And this guy has had hundreds of bikes so he should have learned to fix things correctly, but no. If you want some one to learn dirtbikes from you should watch guys like: Highlandcycles or Cameron Niemela. Those two guys are pro`s at fixing dirtbikes.

One thing you have to realize, the crankcase oil is only for the transmission, your fuel is what lubricates the piston and crank, so always use plenty of good two stroke oil in the fuel. Just an FYI for old Can-Am owners, leave the oil injection on the motor, there’s an oil slinger on the crank that needs that oil, they will blow up if you premix them.

And running the engine for 20+ minutes with only coolent and NO oil in his last video. The whole engine needs a rebuild and all bearings need to be changed out.Yes it could hold together for a few rides. But in less then a hour the engine is gone break dow in a BAD way.

Get yourself a radiator pressure tester at harbor freight. It connects to where the radiator cap goes and you pump it up to like 12 psi. If the pressure goes down you know for sure you have a leak. Otherwise Your just guessing like in the video.

Pop that water pump bearing out, glass bead the whole case, and water pump neck, get rid of 30 year old jb weld, hit it with carb cleaner, and air. Let new seals soak in regular ATF for 2 days, they will swell. Put new jb on cases & pressure test cooling system 5lbs- 8lbs max. Resemble use ATF "NOT ENGINE OIL 10W-40"!!!!!!

Best thing to g Do is heat up some tar, and paint it behind where the water pump propeller is. A thin coat, but Soda blast it first to bear magnesium.Never have that problem again
