This Fixed My Hamstring Injury, When Nothing Else Worked!

I used to think that the key to staying healthy was isolating muscle groups with specific activation exercises. It turns out I was wrong. Very wrong...

My favorite lift! 😍 so so many benefits! Runners, do NOT skip your weight training. It is game changing. Ty for sharing!

Here because I tore my hamstring, and not to burst your bubble 3 years later but I hope you’re not deadlifting anymore unless it’s light weight 😂 it doesn’t have benefits really at all and is almost as pointless as bench. When you get up to heavier weight the risk to reward is pointless. One movement with your body 1/100th of a percent out of alignment and you’re done for 4 months.
A while back I started heavy lifting a couple times a week in a fun bootcamp class. I cut back my running to 3x/ week for recovery, and after 3 months just adding weights, I'd shaved a minute per mile off!
This video gave me hope. Thank you. I am having knee pain for the last 2 months and nothing seems to work. Will try this thanks for sharing
Thank you for sharing Nate, I apologize I believe I referred to you once as (Ryan) Great Content ❤️ Shoutout to Cute Holly ❤️ I love your TRE channel & Vlogs ✌️
Would love to hear more about your triathlon history
So true !!! Good video.
Ahh... i know this one. But in my father an old school way.... help him working clearing land for planting crops at the 50% steep hilly area during rest day. That's the best all in one high volume workout with maff low HR and strength 🤣🤣🤣
I was suffering sciatic pain in my leg years ago and found stiff leg deadlifts done slowly with my heavy dumbells sorted out the problem!
thanks Nate.I used to use the stronglifts 5x5, amazing, simple compound lifts, gradually increasing weight over time. great for runners too.

Amazing complimentary program. Can get in and out of the weight room in 30-45 min and as you're focusing on compound lifts you'll work your full body. Great suggestion!

Awesome, thanks!
Excellent video! what grade of tear you had?
Thank you for this wonderful video. Can you please help me with stiff calf muscles which I have developed after running with an increased leg lift, forefoot strike and cushioned shoes.
Thanks you sir 🧡🧡🧡
Tried this today after weeks of progress ridding my hamstring pain. I'm recovered from major body fractures and I'm a Cyclist. GOT hamstring pains since middle February. I'm giving this a go after weeks of failed rehabilitation moves. ...you probably won't respond to this since it's an older video but, thanks for this one. Going to work now. Peace ✌️

Nice vid Nate, how were the DOMS after starting out those initial deadlifts? I find I will do 5 sets (of fairly light weight) and will suffer for days which impacts the running somewhat. I then don't do deadlifts for another couple of weeks :(

Reduce your reps and weight maybe 20% each. Consistency is key. Many new exercises are like this, we can do more but we should start reading into it and make it routine rather than overdoing it. For compound lifts especially, getting a good form is important and much easier if you are not at your upper limit.
“All you need is this rock!” *will smith intro pose*
People who are in track are lifting weights and I do too. Compound lifts such as dead lift, squats, shoulder press, bench and rows. Power clean is really good but it’s dangerous if not done correctly.

Enjoy! Let us know if you did it!
With due respects coach, ur hips weren't low enough while you lifted stone. As per my understanding, u need to lower hips more and try not to take your knees foward much.
Man its been 3 years and a month since I pulled my hamstring. I really don't even know how I did it! There was no single instance that I can remember that I felt it pull! I just woke up one day after hooping and it started. It sucks so bad! Im a runner too, and its hindered me from doing both! I can go and shoot around, but as far as quick running, nope! It definitely is kind of depressing not to be able to run! I have to try this! I would have to learn proper technique for squatting first. That would terrible if I hurt something else while trying to fix it! Thanks for the tip!

Hey, did it work for you?
Is cortisol shot the same as prolotherapy ? Cause I’ve did prolotherpy before and it seemed like it worked what I mean by that the next day after I got the shot, I did a test to see if I could do my hamstring if it was good, the test was squatting down and touching my ankles and then like stretching or laying on my back and lift in my leg straight up not straight up. I’ve been in my knee and it felt like it did before I got injured but the thing I did was hurt I went outside and trained on it that same day and then I felt at the session I felt like it started to on glue or come apart and it started feeling like the same so yes, I was asking if Cortizone Cortizone shots are the same as phototherapy if you ever try prolotherapy.
But what do you do day 1 of injury??
Are you doing them while injured?
Something to get rid of shin pain while running pls
Today was leg day so 4x6 DLs but I pull sumo to not aggravate and old low back tweak. I’m a better runner for lifting and a better lifter for running.

Love that last line! How true is that??
Weeks and months ? Dude try yrs that shit is super depressing not being able to train
And what about squat with barbell, it's less beneficial in this case?

idk I think I hurt my medial hamstring tendons and I feel deadlifting will cause me more issues
Nice
Just watched this and your squats video. You mention here that doing heavy lifting has helped you more in dead lifts, would you say the same is true for squats?
@TheRunExperience

Definitely true for squats. I started with deadlifts b/c that's what my injury at the time dictated.

@@Jblbluetoothh it’s really difficult man. Mine injured in 2021 of December and didn’t actually completely heal until recently this spring in 2023. I still have to strengthen the muscles through light leg exercise and stretching. What I suggest is stretching the muscle out, doing light exercise with it like leisurely walks, as well as just trying to focus on the muscle paij and avoid what feels like is straining it. If you have access to a physical therapist, go. That’s what really helped mine. Hope your heals soon bro 🙏

Full range calf raises too and also with weighted stretching and a good massage gun every night for a few weeks. My calves were extremely tight for about 2 years and this trio seemed to help. Also rolling your plantar fascia over a broom handle or stick that rolls underneath. Works a treat but will hurt like hell
Deadlift is number 1 exercise for everyone. BUT dont do it with rock, please :D ..
U can’t just say lifting heavy then say slightly above body weight for sets of 5

Anyone get sore adductors doing squats? Even just body weight I struggle for a few days after. It's it my pelvic tilt?
@C22RLD
3 жыл бұрын
@@deadwendy6870 The problem comes when i do those simple exercises, a 10kg goblet squat per example impacts my inner thighs up into groin for about 2 days. I suspect its because my pelvis tilts up (anterior) when i get to 90 degrees and stretches them. Maybe its just a matter of working on anterior and posterior flexibility and working between them to improve the range of motion.
Weight training makes my muscles more sore.

And people think weight training is for "meat heat body builders" or strength athletes. Runners who don't weight train are like those what is it 80% of vegans who realize they are unhealthy and need to go back to eating meat. There is even people who say the deadlift is the most useless exercise that will cause injury. Any claims of anything are usually the extreme and somewhere in between most likely is the answer.

Slightly above your body weight is more likely heavy too even though you have weigh non obese still it will be heavy if 5x5 🤙
