    Only thing I hated about the ModX7+ is before it arrived I didn’t realize it came with those cheap keys that are on my $150 Yamaha practice keyboard. I thought it would come with keys similar to my XS7. It upset me so bad I don’t think my next keyboard will be a Yamaha and that’s all I’ve ever purchased for the churches I play at from the Motif 7 to the ES 7, the ES8, MX88, XS7 and the ModX7+.

    I do that all the time with my MODX and the pianos from Keyscape The MIDI capabilities on the MODX are amazing, I can have like 8 to 16 parts with sounds on the MODX, and in order to keep using the Keyspace along with the sounds of the MODX, I need to have the MIDI channel 1 (Performance Part 1) without controlling samples of the MODX, hek, even the volume slider from the Part 1 controls the Keyscape Volume. A thing that I'll need to test is: MIDI CH 1 => for Keyscape MIDI CH 2 => for OG Korg Triton VST and the rest of the parts of the MODX with MODX patches. The possibilities are endless, Yamaha is doing a great work with their MIDIs lately PD: for my deception, is not something available on the MOTIF XF Line up, it is something added on the MONTAGE/MODX but yeah, controlling layers between VSTs and Physical Synths at the same time, lively, is just super cool and super amazing

    @@AwesomeMan2696Avid Rockman X Fan i see, NOICE now, how to do it (I asume you get the keyboard USB connected: 1. Run Keyscape as usual, KSC will choose MIDI CH 1 as default right? 2. pick whatever patch on the MODX that has only 1 part, because the 1st part will send MIDI data through the CH 1 3. from the Performance mode, mute that 1st part 4. for the rest of parts (2 to 16) pick whatever you want from the MODX sounds Whatever sound comes up from Keyscape you can control it with 1. the USB volume knob (master volume for it) 2. the 1st volume slider why mute the 1st performance part? because when you play the piano you still need to send MIDI data, and the green little keyboard on screen upwards the M or S buttons will be the switch for that. Theoretically, if you have enough ram to run another standalone VST and configure it to receive from MIDI CH 2, you can control volume and stuff from Performance Part 2 Now, because this is already Reddit reply long, imagine what you can do if you deep dive into performance part's...: 1. keyboard zone 2. pitch (octave changes) if you have the full MODX8 you can split the keyboard into 3 or 4 enough keys part and have like 4 keyboards in one, 2 parts running for 2 VST control, and the rest for the MODX sounds just imagine... MONTAGE/MODX is such a beast of a synth honestly Now, go to a sauce and get new patches to install into the machine, like the Korg's Dyno Piano XL which is a beautiful sound obtained from the mythical Korg 01/W (that you can get from a youtube channel)... just imagine... if is not clear enough lemme know, I'll try to quick record a video to show you

    I do like how Roland extended this functionality, in that you can select which MIDI channel is being triggered, internal, external, or both, so ideally, you could have a huge layer of different sounds if you can cleverly combine your iOS/iPad/Mac/PC sounds with the internal sounds of the keyboard. It's possible to do this in the Montage/MODX, though a bit clunky.

    I had a Roland Juno ds using mk sensations, it was going well until my church was invited out of town to a country place and they had no internet service so none of my software would work, I was so embarrassed using the hardware sounds. So, I bought a Yamaha ck88 and a Nord Electro 6d so now I only buy keyboards that I could use hardware and has nice sounds already in it.

  • @GospelMusic4Life
    @GospelMusic4Life10 ай бұрын

    I thought I was done buying keyboards and was going to go midi controller but after trying several different options I see that it’s better having the audio interface built in the keyboard or some kind of audio in. The non class compliant audio driver on my Roland Juno DS is one of my hinderances for what I want to do. It would be nice if they made an iOS driver app to handle this. I was just looking. Today to see if the fantom 0 has a class compliant driver. I see that I can get the 07 at a discount and the $200 rebate. Tempted to grab it but unsure. I like the touch screen faders and such. Polyphony used to be a big issue but being able to use iPad sounds with physical modeling helps overcome some of that. I have been using an audio interface but I find that having everything stay digital before coming out seems to have a better sound. Like when I play the instrument apps and record them on the iPad it sounds higher quality than when I use audio cables in to post videos.

  • @tonylancer7367

    @tonylancer7367

    10 ай бұрын

    So the Fantom 07 doesn't have a class compliant driver unfortunately. The way to get that sound is to get a dongle that has an audio jack out and a port to connect USB, so you connect out of the keyboard into the phone via USB and then return the audio via the jack into the keyboard. Clunky way of doing it sure, but it's the only way. If you really need a one cable solution, stick to Yamaha or Korg, Roland won't implement make their boards class compliant. EDIT: I just remembered that some Roland keyboards do have class complaint drivers, but it would be the digital piano series (FP, FPX, etc.)

I ended up getting a Casio again to gig with. I may revisit after some time. Still up in the air about switching my Roland for a Yamaha with audio interface, Korg, or a Studiologic keyboard. I gotten rid of my workstation keyboards and MPCS now that I moved away from standalone hardware and went Hybrid. I now have all the rack mount sound module versions of my past workstation keyboards like MOTIF Rack-ES, Roland Fantom-XR etc. I have the Roland Integra-7 which is a beast! I layer my hardware sound modules with my soft synths in Studio One. I use a Roland A-88 midi controller as my go to 88 weighed keys and the Roland PCR-800 as my synthesizer controller for my leads, Brass, etc. I was on the MOTIF ES for years given it was a staple keyboard in black churches. I haven't gigged as a Gospel musician since 2010 now that I'm more focused on Production these days.

    Excuse me for asking a dumb question here but what exactly is the feature that you are referring to in this video? Are you talking about the YC88's built-in audio interface that can connect to a computer or iPad/iPhone/Android device via USB? Or is it something else, like maybe the presets on the YC88 are being treated in your DAW as if they are VSTs? I assume you're talking about the audio interface though, correct? For the record, Yamah's Motif line had a built-in audio interface as well. The problem is that it connected to the outside world only via the now obsolete Firewire.

    The MOXF series will do it with a laptop, but not iOS devices as it’s not class-compliant. I tried forever to make it work but finally realized it was a no-go. Just bought a new Yamaha YC88 last week and can now finally get all the iPhone and iPad music app sounds. But now I don’t really need the iOS or laptop sounds as the YC88 sounds do it all. Ironic.

    I have a MOXF8 and it worked perfectly with my iPhone 13 on which I ran Ravenscroft 275.

    Hot take: Nord keyboards don't have this and the consensus is that they are better. Now YC/CP (Ravenscroft) vs Nord, who's winning? 🤔

    Great feature but only works for iPhone users which sucks for us Android users

    If it’s a class compliant driver I would thing it would work. I have not tried music on android in a while but my guess is one of the apps will see it. You will need a usb on the go adapter instead of the apple version adapter.

    The issue here is that you have no Seemless sound switching. montage modx kronos is good for one thing (Seemeless sound switching) 👈
