​​@@ll4680AOC finished his last 6 games (in a new offense after McDaniels was fired, with no first team reps in the off-season) with 3 games over 100 passer rating; 101, 120, and 110. Plus a 96. He threw 9 TDs to 1 INT in that stretch. He holds the all-time record for completion percentage at Purdue, beating out Drew Brees. Look at his highlights from last year and tell me he can't throw the ball. The Raiders were 5-4 under him last year and second year is almost always the biggest leap. Raiders has the #1 defense in the league the final 9 games (that's when AP took over as interim head coach.) They kept all the starters and added Christian Wilkins. Malcolm Koonce was graded a top 10 pass rusher AND run defender, across from Maxx who should've been DPOY last year. 3-14 doesn't make sense.

@@ll4680 Tom Telesco didn't hire this coach and he didn't build this team. Right now they could absolutely win 10-12 games if things go right. Raiders were in the Red Zone in Cincinnati at the end of regulation, and just one play away from beating the Bengals who went on to the Super Bowl that year. In 2016 the Raiders almost certainly would've gotten a 1st round bye and won a game, except Carr broke his leg in week 16 when he was the front runner for MVP. Instead they started their 3rd string QB on the road since the Chiefs owned the tie breaker after the Raiders lost their last game.

I haven't felt that way since 2017 and even that year I hated our defense. Maybe some of these fans are younger and don't remember that we won a lot of those big games because of our defense not QB play or RBs or even offense. In the 3 SBs we played in we allowed 10, 14, and 9 points and the 80s teams which should have had 1 or 2 more SBs was in the top 10 defenses of all-time. Plunkett barely completed 50% of his passes in his entire career and was rookie of the year with NE. I don't care how good your offense is teams with good defenses and good game plans are going to limit your points in at least one third of your games and often it's more than that. Your defense keeps you in games and takes a ton of pressure off the offense if you can do that and force turnovers without making a lot them, you will almost always have a good season. As long as our defense is as good as I think it will be we'll win 10-12 games as long as our QBs don't crap the bed.

@@jcwebbjr77 but why? In his final 6 games he threw 9 TDs to 1 INT, had 4 games with passer ratings over 100, some of them WELL over 100, and another game about 90. And that's after getting no off season work with the 1st team and then learning a new offense under a new coordinator halfway through the season. He had some very down games for sure, but he's a rookie who was 3rd string until November. Of course he did. But he ended the season extremely strong. And just watch his highlights video and tell me the kid doesn't have some very impressive arm talent.

Then also considering that whilst the Raiders haven't had a very promising history with drafting QBs they have had some success with retreads (Plunkett and Gannon) so I guess who knows... stranger things have happened.

It's a hard game to play though. I don't think I really disagree with any one single call. But the NFL is very hard, it's an extremely flukey game and we all know they're going to lose at least 5. I wouldn't be shocked to see 11-6 though. Best defense in the league just got better, AOC in his last 6 games (without Brock Bowers), under a completely inept and inexperienced play caller, had 3 games over 100 passer rating - as high as 120, and threw 9 TDs to 1 INT in that stretch. Zamir White was on an absolute tear. They added the best blocking TE in college plus JPJ and Michael Gallup. AOC will have the full off-season of being the guy, in the same offense and taking the first team reps - instead of 3rd team. That should make a world of difference. And an offense with a burner like Tre Tucker, a perennial All Pro in Davante, Kolton Miller, a do-it-all Jakobi Meyers and the best TE duo in the league is always going to have a chance. The best special teams unit in the league (by far) is still intact too.

I love this guys optimism however, 14-3 is a little high with our QB situation. I’ll call it 12-5

I believe our defense was the best in football over the final like 6-8 games in points allowed. Offense just needs a little boost and I think 10-12 wins is very realistic. It hinges greatly on one of the QBs stepping up and the OC proving his Chicago tenure wasn't entirely his fault.
