What a beautiful life you all have & love the video, I had questions about the bathroom too..although I've watched you from the first video I had forgotten where it was located. Have you ever considered opening the wall between the cowbarn & make your living space in the cabin larger even with your other cabin build you'd have more space for now ? I love watching Ivar growing up..I wish all children could be so peaceful & happy. Hope to see more videos & have a happy Christmas ! Love from the USA !

I recommend to that unfortunate family that in such a cold and snowy climate, that they have reindeer and yaks as cattle (these cattle are like cows covered with a lot of long hair, they withstand the cold very well, they are beginning to be considered as cattle in greenland, and can be milked)

When the world around us seems to be falling apart and people look at the violence as if it's a hit TV show. Your family are a breath of fresh air, a calm in the storm. Watching Ivar learn and grow into the man he will become, with life skills and dedication to family that most kids will never learn in today's world. Blessings

I remember that stage with my kids. They start to outgrow the nap but got tired around 4. If they fall asleep then they're awake until late. I guess a short, little nap is the answer. I think it's great Ivar sleeps outside. Some people are so nervous about their kids in the cool air, but it's so healthy! Love your videos and hearing about your life.

I have been following your journey for a year now and find that it brings joy and hope to my outlook on life. Fifty years ago my husband and I chose a similar off grid lifestyle on Bowen Island, British Columbia, Canada. We had sheep (Suffolk), goats and chickens. No electricity and water from the brook. Our house was a loggers’ cabin built in 1800s from four inch thick cedar planks. Good luck in your quest for a sustainable lifestyle, and keep your relationship strong. I look forward to seeing your family move into the house. 🐝🐝🍀. Sharon, Victoria, BC.

Having a Swedish grandmother and being raised around her you know her ways was having us kids sleeping with the bedroom door closed up and windows open she always said that the cold air when a person sleeps help keeps colds and sickness away and I believe it to this day. My windows are wide open in the winter time and cold air comes in and a person sleeps soundly and is not as sick as others get.

I am glad to hear you discuss refrigeration. Can't emphasize enough the challenge of keeping perishables when living off grid. Natural options are often too cold or too warm. I've been living offgrid most of 25 years and still no ideal scenario. I appreciate learning your ways to help me with mine. I wish I started when I was young and vibrant as you three but even as a 67 year old woman I look and feel younger. The simple, slow, manual life has a natural rythm that seems to encourage physical and mental well being. All the best to your beautiful family.

I try to “eat clean” as we say in the USA, grow a lot of my own fruits and vegetables. I would have chickens too, but they are not allowed where I live. Your breakfast sounds so great a way to begin a busy day. Most important meal of the day. You will figure the cellar out. It just takes time and trial and error. God Bless all of you.

The "collision" between....what I call "stylized medieval peace".....and modern technology(the laptop) in the opening is wonderful. Reminds me of a Star Trek : Next Gen episode where Picard went back to Earth to visit his brother, and you see his space shuttle landing amid vineyards. For me, such a "melding" of cultures would be magical.

I am sure there is quite some some hardship and a lot of work in this kind of life....but there is something really beautiful and and happy about such a simple life too....without many possessions and hastle with lots of people. There is freedom and quietness behind it too. I wish this family all the best on their journey.

Tova & Mathias Watching your videos is an experience that calms the chatter in our minds. I can unwind after a difficult day at work where I am in constant conflict with time constraints, complaints, employees and management. I look forward to escaping into your world and have begun my own private journey as well by paying off debt and building out a shuttle bus for wild camping. Soon I will find a piece of land where I can build my off-grid homestead. Stay warm and keep making those delightful dishes!!!! The pizza was inspiring!!! Kimberly

This used to be a common practice in the U.S., too, but for some reason parents got weird about it & it went away. People used to 'walk' their babies in all kinds of weather, too, but not anymore. Parents are hyper vigilant & want the cushiest existence, but it has not lead to more resilient children. My kids played outside in all kinds of weather & I would take them for walks on cold days, bundled up. They napped outside (not really during the winter, because they don't sell that kind of gear in the US to make sure they really are warm & it gets about 20 below zero Fahrenheit where i live) and played in the rain. They were NEVER sick. I am glad to see that some countries' parents have not lost their minds in this regard. I think it is very healthy for kids to live like Ivar! Wish more parents would do that here.

I actually have been following you since Tova's video and have been hooked ever since. Living in South Africa, I cannot immagine your kind of cold in winter. (Ours rarely go below 0*C and to me thats cold enough, but our summers are mostly over 27*C) Your way of living, your genuine care for the land and your animals and the way you raise your son is fascinating and awe inspiring. I hope this video takes off too.

We very much enjoy eating potatoes. Baked in the oven, boiled, mashed... But we try to keep them as a side dish and a treat. We feel best when not eating too much carbs and plants with potentially harmfull anti-nutrients. We do eat some grains from time to time, but very little.

I watched this video and the verse (below) came to mind. You all work so hard. You show us truth and perseverance. You show us the good and the bad. You share your lives with us. Your son's smile, playfulness, and innocence is heart warming. Thank you for opening your home and life to us. I pray everyday for you all. God Bless! Philippians 4:8 NKJV "Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-meditate on these things."
