I’m a proud service hooman to a 6 year old miniature schnauzer named Baxter. Baxter rescued me when he was about 1.5. His rescue organization advised me when he adopted me that I would need to advise the groomer that he might need a muzzle for the nail trim. While I did do that, I also made a point of when we were just laying around together watching TV to play with his paws and his toe beans. Relatively quickly he got used to it, and the groomer says it’s not a problem at all. Just something to think about for all you hoomans that belong to these magnificent little characters.

I was the best friend of a wonderful little shih tzu girl for 15 years. We went to around 4 groomers, who all told me to play with her feet more. She would not behave. I would reach over and show them that I could play with her feet, it was them that was the issue. We finally found a groomer that she liked well enough to allow them to touch her feet. It's not always the training. Sometimes it's just the dog doesn't care for, or doesn't trust, the person trying to groom them.

My daughter, who no longer lives with us any more, has a gorgeous female Jack Russell. 🐕 She is 2 years and 3 months old and her name is Malu. Every time she brought her here so that we could enjoy her too, Malu would be sniffing around the whole house. She even knew where I had already put a plate filled with water for her and she would immediately run to it to drink water. After she was not thirsty any more, she would run to us so that we cuddled her and of course play with her too. She is really energetic and I love it. What's funny is that she would stand up on her rear paws barking to us to give her a lemon she had already tracked down by its smell. She adores playing with lemons and we kick it and play some kind of football ("lemonball" in this case 🙄) with her. She is really hilarious when every time that she bites it, tastes the bitter taste of it and barks at it like crazy!!! 😂😂😂 One time it was about to start raining outside so there were some loud thunders. Malu was scared of them on the one hand, on the other hand though she was barking at them. 😅😅😅 I can still remember when we were having our Christmas lunch and Malu, although she was tied until we finished eating, she released herself and appeared under the table out of the blue sniffing and looking for something to eat too. It was Christmas after all, right? I am describing the situation as it was for 2 years something because a new arrival changed things for Malu dramatically. On July 4th my daughter gave birth to a healthy and beautiful daughter!!! The baby's coming changed everybody's lives and Malu was no longer the "centre of the world" for my daughter and her husband. Poor Malu... 😕 Her attitude had started to be changing before the baby's birth. She was doing various things totally out of her character. She had become disobedient and, when my daughter was asking her why she was like that, Malu absolutely ignored her. It was obvious that she was jealous and I strongly advised my daughter not to be neglecting Malu as it would hurt her feelings. After all, Malu was being treated like a baby till then and she wouldn't be willing to accept being neglected. And I never blamed her for it. Thank God, as the time passes by, my daughter gradually allows Malu to be going next to her daughter. Malu smells the baby and when my daughter is not watching she even leaks her hand. I am sure that she loves the baby too. In case that my daughter conceives that Malu has touched the baby, she kind of yells at her and sweeps the baby's hand with a baby wipe. I am also sure that as soon as my granddaughter has grown enough, the two girls will become best friends. 😍😍😍

Yea this trip is nothing but pleasure for the human and burden for that poor dog, who not only had to meet a whole new groomer, but will never see her again and be forced to adjust to a NEW groomer. Not to mention the points you bring up.

Iirc you have to qualify for the 5-day or less program prior to coming to Hawaii (and since he lives there, I'm sure they would have done it before leaving with him). They have to get all his vaccines up-to-date within 30 days or less. If it's not a long vacation, they should be able to release him to his owners even same day.

Flying your dog 4300 miles in a cage on an commercial airplane JUST to be groomed by a famous channel? That sounds irresponsible and stressful for the dog.

My great aunt and uncle always had a silver mini schnauzer growing up, as did my cousin, and both were very playful and friendly when my family went to visit, and they were especially loud when they were saying hello, full-body wags and all. They also got along pretty well with the cats they had, too. RIP Scruffy and Mork, along with the cats Omadeus and Allie.

What a darling little guy !!! I fell head over heels for a mini schnauzer when I was a little girl and going to my moms work place. She worked in a nursing home and I spend hours there with the residents. Well, one nice gent had a mini schnauzer and we became fast friends. I'll never forget that sweet pup.

All this talk of unnecessary emissions from plane trips by celebrities and rich people... and we are celebrating someone who could have had their dog groomed on the island??? And instead traveled unnecessarily, wasting fuel. Totally unlike this video, babe.

My in-laws had a mini schnauzer named Ladybug. She was the mini-est of minis and only truly adored my husband's mother. Everyone else she just tolerated, or sincerely loathed. She barked at anything and everything and was up at 6:00 am sharp every single morning ready to bark the day away, much to my husband's disgust who enjoyed sleeping in on the weekends like any normal teenager at the time. She knew how to speak, roll over, sit, shake, and lay down. Ladybug was a smart dog, but she definitely lived up to the schnauzer attitude and only bonding with one person!

The owner must be so thirsty to get Koui featured on the video. Living in Hawaii, I know that there must be a ton of paperwork involved to get Koui from Hawaii to Canada; the dog must meet a lot of requirements in order to get the necessary paperwork to get a dog from one country to another without the dog being quarantined for a few days upon arriving in Canada. Then, it is the same way when trying to get the dog back to Hawaii (the dog could be quarantined for up to 120 days without necessary paperwork).

I had a salt and pepper standart schnauzer named Juca (like the cashew syllabus switched). He lived for 14 years (he'd live more if it wasn't for a cancer) and he was a true grungy gentleman. My parents saved him from a bad place and he saved us right back with his manners and companionship. I miss him everyday. Oddly enough, as he got older, the barking was less present - unlike his grumpy side. And groomers used to say he was a well behaved boy.

I had a Schnoodle before the poodle mixes were cool, and he was actually supposed to be a gift for my mom. He bonded with me on the first day and, to his last, he only saw my mom as "kitchen hooman" (aka, the human who gives him treats while cooking). He lived to be almost fifteen, and I took him with me to college as an emotional support pup. Everyone who knew us always said they couldn't tell who was supporting who - me with the intense anxiety and undiagnosed depression, or him with his failing vision and dislike of all things not me and beds :)

My parents have raised Minis for years now, including from puppy mill rescues. They are extremely loyal, friendly, hilarious and absolutely adorable. As is typical of small dogs, they're far louder than their little bodies would have you assume and tend to know when they rule the roost. They're energetic, playful and very trainable, but can be antsy around children who don't know how to treat them. Honestly, one of the best breeds I've ever had the pleasure of knowing, but as with most dogs it's all in how they're treated and raised. Definitely recommended.

Well now I need a schnauzer friend. Years ago I had friends with two of them. They were such great dogs. I was babysitting their kids and the dogs alerted me to the toddler wandering off out of the house while I changed the baby's diaper. I'm so grateful to them for helping me out that day. So yes, the dogs were mainly bonded to Dad, but they were also great family pets and friendly towards visitors.
