When Dr Gani Ganeshwar was studying medicine in Mangalore, he fell in love with the port city’s iconic Ideal Ice Creams and Pabba’s. Over the years of studying medicine, he consumed many of their creations and pondered over the possibility of bringing these to Bengaluru. Nearly a year ago, the thought finally came to fruition when this enterprising doctor began Scoops of Mangalore, where Ideal ice creams are not only sold in retail packs, but also fashioned into the most popular Mangalore Gadbad’s, Tiramisu’s, Parfaits and the like. I dropped by one evening to check if these ice cream concoctions hit the spot like they would in Kudla (Mangalore)!

Beautiful…. I go to Mangalore just for this most of the years to eat at ideals will try at malleshwaram, I was in Mangalore for 7 years from 1994 till 2001 feeling nostalgic

Actually, there is another hidden gem, Treaty Hub, another small Ideals outlet, on Modi Hospital Road, West of Chord Road, between the Illusion Cafe building and the Unlimited Showroom.

I study in K S Hegde Medical College and lived in Malleshwaram near his store.
Actually I miss the original, traditional , old school Gadbad and my favorite in that was actually the Kesar flavor, then strawberry and then Vanilla and the Jelly and the dry fruits all “budded”… into the Ice Cream 😁.

When was it year and where??
Ideal ice creams are way better than any other national or global brand and they would have to put in more effort and learn from another local ice cream maker Naturals and expand across the country as they will surely win more fans.
Ideal's tiramisu and any flavours for slabs. Gubud was usually big for single person and made for sharing with 2 or 3 people.

I had been wanting to try Gadbad for many years. Was looking forward to trying out this place ever since this episode was released. Finally made a visit today and was disappointed with the overall experience. Firstly we were the only ones around and the place seemed like it needed a through wash. The tables sticky and the menu damp and sticky. Still braved and placed an order for the old school gadbad. The ice creams tasted fine however the fruits seemed stale, not sure if they make it fresh every day or if the lack of customers was the reason. Thought I should share this here and hope the owner doc takes a que from here improvises. Thanks.

I was surprised to hear you say you haven't had the original gadbad. The original venue in hampankatta tiled roof venue was the best. You missed the parfait. I wish the Bombay naturals brand fruit icecreams were available in bengaluru. They will give a run for the money to the Italian fruit gelatos

Gadbad is synonymous with ideal initially and now pabbas .gadbad is not just a another icecream for mangalorians . No trip is complete in mangalore without downing a GADBAD .

Sometimes, when you taste multiple flavors, the taste of one or more dishes is lost in the culinary chaos wreaked on one's palate... guess, that might have happened with the ice cream which didn't make an impact
The guy who's worked in Mangalore ideals.. touches his face repeatedly with the gloves and handles food with the same. It's cringe. Hygiene needs to be maintained and while handling food as well. Request the owner if reading comments here to Please take note n rectify.

Sir this is the worst ice cream we have ever tasted it's nowhere near Kudla..all old stock ..got tooth ace because of the ice cream.
