This could happen to your Caravan | How to fix your 12v water pump

When the 12V RV water pump fails, it can be very frustrating! especially when you're off-grid.
This video walks through what we did to troubleshoot, replace and improve the 12v RV water pump in our Caravan.
Products used*
Seaflo 33series pump: amzn.to/3JDwtbz
SHURflo accumulator: amzn.to/3UA3Su2
Seaflo accumulator: amzn.to/3JFpAGU (I used the Shurflo accumulator as that is what was available at the time, otherwise this would have been my choice to match. They both work the same)

Thanks Tim for highlighting this pump problem and the simple fix, sure is better cure than replacing the pump every time, not knowing why the pump failed, now we do, cheers, much appreciated.

A lot of older or cheaper pumps connected to rainwater tanks have one of those. They’re easy to spot as they look like a large cylinder or bulb sitting above the tank. For anyone that is wondering, the accumulator has a rubber bladder inside it that expands when water is pushed into it. This then compresses the air in the accumulator which is all around the bladder and this compressed air is what pushes the water out when you open a tap. Imagine a football with the rubber bladder inside it being flat, then you fill that bladder with water. If the outside of the football was a hard plastic shell the air would be compressed as the bladder filled with water. The valve on the end of the accumulator is a pre charge valve so the outer shell always has about 30 psi pressing on the bladder. This makes sure the bladder can push all the water out. I hope this helps. Cheers.

Hi Mate, thanks for this video, looking at doing the same thing. Just wondering what brand of accumulator you used and was there any reason for choosing that brand?

hey you're welcome. we used the Shurflo because I read good reviews on it... and it was the only one they had in stock at Gelardton! I also would have used the Seaflo, for no other reason apart from keeping it the same brand as the pump. (I'm a bit OCD like that! ) :)
