Schwabach Kitchens is now no longer there. A disgruntled employee burned the place down about a month or two after this video was posted. Also Sayklly’s chocolate is the best! Wayyy better than commonly found chocolate and the local favorite is called Yooper Bar

Nice quiet town 👌 and great historic buildings 👷♂️ thanks Sally 😊 and Marty 😊

Quiet town? That's probably the busiest town in the UP. Terrible traffic, drugs and petty crime. Nothing pretty or special about it. Unless you like meth!
I noticed a sign on the sidewalk for a Stormy Kromer. As much as you like hats I think you should have one of those:) 🌻🐾
*I love the history of this place!!* The buildings are amazing!!
The next time you're up there, Go to Rosy's! its a great little diner.
Really nice work Sally and Marty. I’ve watched many of your videos. You guys are really getting good at this: presentation, dialog, pacing, music, transitions etc. My son does video productions (professionally) and it ain’t easy. Well done.

Thank you so much! This really means a lot and makes my day. 😁
Absolutely love Escanaba. Such a beautiful town. Also there is a Carnegie Library in Port Huron in the thumb area. It now serves as the City Museum. 😊
What a beautiful building that Carnegie library is.
Such beautiful architecture. I enjoyed this video!😊❤
Superb video about Escanaba and the lighthouse history. Lived up in Munising for 2 yearrs passing thru Escanaba often. Nice time of year to spin the ghost stories. Great commentary Sally and Marty ! Will be travelling thru Esky soon to visit relatives up on Lake Superior shoreline.
Hey I see my building!. That's so weird! And that holy water is directly across the street from the Catholic church you filmed. So i would assume someone just left it there on their way bach to their car. Al capone had a house on 10th st and 8th ave South. Its turned into apartments now. Last time i walked by there they were remodeling, maybe the contractors have some stories about it.
Loved the video! My husband gave me permission to tell on him. A long time ago he too was afraid of the chainsaw guy at the haunted house. He nearly threw me at him to run away He was gone! 🏃♂️😂😂😂

When I worked at the Western Auto HQ in downtown, KCMO, down in the sub basement, was an official fallout shelter. It still had some green metal barrels with yellow stenciled lettering for water storage and waste containment. I snagged one of them, but, I don’t remember what happened to it, this was back in the late, 70s.

The high school had all those Fallout rations in the tunnels under the school in the 1970s. We went down there and made up a story about it for the school newspaper
Thank you for refreshing my memory of Escanaba. I was probably 12 the last time I visited there. Great video!
Don't know where the other half of my comments went. You never want to build on old native American burial grounds. The old Ludington Hotel is unique and I no doubts is haunted since it seems like that old hotels are always haunted. The former Escanaba National Bank us cool. Love that site with the 3 historic buildings. That old museum could be haunted and is unique looking. Thanks for sharing about the Bonifas Family. First Presbyterian Church, Bethany Lutheran Church are beautiful. Love the looks of that Grey Victorian house. Love seeing where old drug stores are since I am retired pharmacist. I see they have a lot unique specialty stores. Love that Escanaba Mural on that brick building. Old Montgomery Wards sign brings back memories. Rosys Diner sounds like a place I would eat at. Pretty cool old brewery. Enjoyed your video!
SSS and Marty, excellent video and informative commentary. Look fwd to every video you make. Thank you.
Should we start a go fund me page for Marty's lighthouse light ? LOL

When I grew up there in the 60s and 70s the town was very busy. Now the population is down to 12,000. The neighborhood schools have been closed down. Downtown is almost deserted it's nothing like it was in it's heyday.
That's a neat town. Good fishing up there too. Cool video...thanks! 🐾
Escanaba is a nice town and has some of the best pasty shops. Carnegie gave grants to 60 libraries in Wisconsin and a few Colleges. Beloit College has stuff from Carnegie there. I think AT&T is still in Escanaba, Ameritech (one of the baby Bells) bought them a couple decades ago and took on the AT&T name. Fun video hope you guys tried one of GrandMa's pastys they use to be great. Stay safe and healthy.
This video really brought back a lot of memories because it focused on my old neighborhood. I worked at House of Ludington and Gust Asp, I lived near the Carnegie Library (you almost got a shot of my house), I went to plays at the Bonifas Fine Arts Center, one of my friends actually lived in the light house back when it was an active military property, and my best friend and I used to climb on the old fire escape. He figured out how to jump up and grab it so it levered down to the ground. Some things have changed, but it really looks much the same as it did fifty years ago.
I have gotten to the point where I need my sightseeing Sally, video more and more often, keep up the good work
Ludington is also a City in the lower peninsula home to the Ludington to Manitowoc Cross Lake car Ferry.
Interesting, as always
Hi, Sally and Marti. I always thank you for your video and driving scenes. Best wishes to you. ❤
Last time I was in Esky, 1979, it was a ghost town.
Commenting as I watch the video. Excellent thus far. However, every site I have found lists Harbor Tower as THae tallest building in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. If you can tell us of a taller building in the UP I would love to hear about it. Love the video thus far.

The Island Resort and Casino which is located in Harris, MI (approx 15 minutes west of Escanaba on Hwy US2/41) has a hotel which is just a little higher and is the tallest building in the UP. It was constructed sometime in the past 15-20 years.
"420 Halloween fest Oct. 28th" dang maybe next year 😂😂😂
I remember the Tilden House, they tore it down when I was 8-10 yrs old, it was originally a theatre with a stage on the second floor and a livery downstairs. Later, in the great depression it was converted into a dance hall and for roller skating(if I'm not mistaken).
Excellent presentation. Well done, Sallyvelt and Martyvelt. You and the pups rule.
Oh Man Rosie's Diner!! You haven't been to Escanaba if you don't experience Rosie's!
Thank you for taking us on your journey SSS. You are indeed a ray of sunshine. ❤
Been looking forward to I watch this one. Looks cold there. The story of the lighthouse and the female lighthouse keepers. Sad she died there in a fire. I have no doubt she probably is haunting the lighthouse. Probably be always a controversy about her death. You never want to
We were there this past summer, nice town. Lots of retired locomotives, good trip for train buffs.
Lovely yellow sweat shirt, Marty. Yellow was my mother's favorite color. Don't see it much anymore. People tend toward dark colored apparel.

Hi Sally & Marty, Thank you for showing us this great town. I know 2 Carnegie Libraries that you would like, here in the Midwest. Check out Sycamore IL and Dubuque, IA. They both are still libraries. I love libraries, too! The Dubuque one has this amazing iron catwalk and stairway.

Boo!! Now that was a funny story. Don't feel bad though, my little sis did the same. Now during war threats or flu, they tell you to remain in your home I finally found out why. Your body is easier to identify. 😊
Cool video. I tried to post a link to a 3rd order lens on ebay for 150 but I think the spam filters stripped it. I wonder why they built the lighthouse facing inland very wierd. Interesting ghost stories. Can you find any old cold war shelters to video?
The Swedish Panty? Did I miss it? Love the Escanaba area.
