Most (if not all) bands have background tracks. These guys understand that most people are automatically comparing their live performance with the recorded song, so making it sound as close as possible to the recorded song. They are incredible. Rory is insanely talented and can belt it out AND be pitch perfect.

Saw them live a couple months ago, yes its real. They're incredible live! Front mans name is Rory Rodriguez.

100% real. I’ve seen them twice, once as a headliner and once as direct support and he’s amazing. Seeing them again in 8 days. Pretty excited

This song is for his Father, every time he sings it he’s with his Father again. It’s beautiful, it’s real and it’s heartfelt. This song means a lot to Rory, so he’s always going to deliver the spirit of his Dad (who was a singer) to the people he’s performing to.

The backup vocalist is just as good!!

the best out of southern CA.

It’s like, jarring how great his voice is, and then you also have these amazing and powerful lyrics. Dayseeker is so extremely underrated! Saw them live last month and it was unreal

I've heard him acoustically as well. He preformed live and acoustic before a show I saw and did 3 songs. It was epic!

Everyone uses backing tracks. We go to concerts to be entertained. And that’s what they do.

There are effects on his voice live for sure, but this guy is an absolutely incredible singer. He sounds this way live too. Next level

Ever since the first time I saw them at a 10 person local show over 10 years ago Rory was always on top with his vocals so insane

Rory is so talented as well as the rest of the band

They just covered my Immortal and the live recording accoustic is insane and beautiful...hes soo ood...they both ate tbh...check it out...honestly its just so so good

It’s a synthesizer set up. Yes to fill ambient space giving it a whole other dynamic.

It’s it a super old song but you need to check out what it means to be defeated by them that vocal performance is what got me into them. As for track yes there’s a laptop beside the drummer. But as far vocal fx he’s using compression, delay and reverb on his vocal none of that will help pitch if anything it’ll make it more apparent live. But yeah dayseeker is probably one of the most talented bands right now. Sleep theory is amazing too.

from what i know of their drummer and live show, he doesn't use pads. the elec drums are just part of the background track. i could totally be wrong tho

Loads of bands play to tracks, sometimes just a click only they can hear in their in-ears whereas others use it to do the bits they can't do live such as synths, additional vocal layers etc but they're still playing live on top of it. It's pretty common.

as crazy as it sounds, i like his down on the high notes "lonely EARTH, RETURN, and DOWN" words here in the live than the studio! has more umph to them lol

Dayseeker is the best band out there. Rory is just simply the best.

Man, im really glad you’re loving dayseeker trip! But let me try a request i think you will enjoy as much as this: Aviations - Coma. Their still a small band from Boston but they will literally explode with their new album. Its like Dayseeker vocals with Karnivool chords and The Reign of Kindo keys in a prog (and sometimes djent) dynamic. Thats absolutely fantastic and i know this will blow you away. Give it a try!

Devin Townsend is at the top of the food chain of male vocals, and has been for over a decade. This guy is a beast though for sure.

Its real but it is mixed with an EQ Filter, Reverb, Delay, pitch correction and Compression as well as backing tracks. Live recording manipulated. Check out some of there other live video to hear the difference. Different but still excellent...real talent!

On a 2nd watch, at 6:51 - 6:54 there's one bad cut where the guitar player isn't in the right place after singing, so possibly multiple takes as well.

It's legitimately insane. I can't even believe it's real dude. Check out the same session when they did Sleeptalk. BOTH GUITARISTS RUN BACKUP VOCALS AND THEY ARE INSANE. It makes no sense that this band isn't absolutely blasting through the top of the charts.

he doesn’t lip sync live at dayseeker gigs. however, in this performance he is, you can see where his vocals don’t always lineup. probably octane wanting a pre recorded performance. absolute monster vocalist rory is

That says a lot about a band when they sound good live I’ve walked out of concert’s before because they sounded nothing like what they’re soppost to lol

Although I'm behind you on them needing more popularity, but Sleep Token deserves every bit of praise they have received.

Tracks are required for live performances to deliver to the public a proper show.

You can clearly see the drummer hitting something where you’re talking about. I see his arm moving.

To think these guys were gonna call it quits at one point, maaaaaan....

his vocals could also be auto-tuned live, just saying. Lots of people don't know that's a thing

There are 100% tracks on this performance. Keys, horns, 3rd harmonies, electronic drum tracks, and vocal chops. There’s some effects on Rory’s vocals as well but more for texture than correction. He’s simply an incredible musician.

There's for sure correction and there is any time they play live. It's fine. Not like they lie abut it or try to hide it. Stylistic choice and it only sounds good if hes already good.

It’s honestly annoying how good Rory’s voice is.

My 17 emo self is on the other line, using a Motorola razr trying to record the chorus for my ringtone

Its not a legit live audio. Its not real. Too many parts you can see where it doesn't match up. He is good live, though.

The only thing that ever drove me crazy about this video is how out of sync the audio and video are, but if you pay close enough attention you can tell how awesome they all are.
