This Building Has Not Been Cleaned Since 1976

For the last 11 years, I have been restoring my family's farm. Over the years, all the buildings on the farm have turned into a hoarder's haven. Today I took on the task of finishing the last two buildings. By the way, they both not been cleaned for 47 years.

I can totally understand. My papaw was a child of the great depression, i.e., he wouldn't throw away anything. When he passed and we started cleaning up the ranch, in just scrap iron from tractors, plows, etc, there was $125k that we hauled to the recycling plant. Took 8yrs to get the ranch cleaned up.

Cole.... When you get the rock finished, take an evening for a family cookout and celebration...you set a goal, reached it, and now celebrate it....relive memories, tell the stories...usher in a new era....remember the past, live in the present, look to the future....this is a family watershed moment....don't let it pass by without celebration....well done, young man...well done! You don't realize it fully yet, but you have changed the future for your entire family! 👍👍👍

I don't think most would run. I think you have your assumptions on what women would do swapped, I think most would stay. Now if you don't tell them your plans and they don't agree, you can't fault them for leaving, but if you talk with your partner and they are not ok with doing it and you do it anyway that's on you. Communication is very good to have. From my limited experience women love remodeling old houses more than men do at least the inside and finishing touches.

Cole, I am an Oyster farmer in New Brunswick Canada. I've been working for close to 3 years now in this and you are completely correct... small things done every day and keeping the larger picture in mind... long term thinking... makes ALL the difference. We are already much more efficient, and next year we'll be doubling our output as a result. I daily LOOK for your videos because while my business is different, all of the concepts and the planning you do is very similar to our farm and I find your videos very inspiring. Thank you very much for sharing your experience... it's helping me keep the motivation to continue to improve and trust that in the end the plan will work despite the inevitable weather related step back that always seems to nick into the plans.

Hey Cole Use a shop-vac with the hose taped to the end of a broom handle or 2x2 and lean it next to the hole that the wasps come out of and let the vacuum suck them up and then you can walk around while they get sucked up. I do this to every wasp nest on my property and it works wonders.

There is a matting--like weed preventer matting--that is put down under gravel for road building. It prevents the gravel from being mashed down into the dirt, which will happen. It's not cheap, and you'd probably only want to use it where the heavy stuff will be running. Probably cheaper than more layers of rocks as they disappear into the ground.

It seems like you would benefit from a woven geotextile or a geogrid (looks like snow fencing) under the 3" rock if the soil is too muddy underneath. The geogrid or woven textile would keep the rock from sinking into the mud and I believe it would support far more weight (truck) in the wet season than rock alone.

Cole. I got married at the ripe old age of 18. I was struggling to raise my family on meager funds. Finally at the age of 25. I found a job and I retired after 32.3 years. Went back to work again after getting bored of doing nothing. I was over weight. Struggling with diabetes type 2 When I reached 65. I lost 100# of weight. Lots and lots of walking. Just last year. I beat diabetes type 2. I'm 69.3 years old. I've finally decided to stop working anymore. But I have of things to do. I enjoy working with my hands. Working on vehicles and many other things. They say you cannot teach a dog new tricks.. I say it's because they have given up. I have grandkids to teach now. To pass on what I've learned. I am looking forward to the years to come. I'm always learning and will never stop. God Bless you Cole.

Just a couple of suggestions, first is on the pad with the electrical panels, I saw that there are either threaded rod or rebar sticking up, put some plastic covers on the ends and no one will get hurt Next is that if you slope the grade away from buildings and have shallow drainage swales you can manage the water on your site and won’t have any puddles or water in buildings Love what you all are doing to make things better !

Thats what its all about. Dreams, grinding, hardwork. Someday in the future, sitting on the porch overlooking the whole shebang it will hit you. I made this happen! Happy birthday

Weird I saw this on my birthday 6mos. after you posted it. No, we don't have the same birthday . I turned 68 3hrs. ago. Just got through cleaning out my old medicine from a heart attack and am drug free except a pain pill about once a month. Sometimes I just need a break. lol It felt so good to cut up all those labels. I'm also 50lbs. lighter than when that happened. Trash removed like you're doing. Still have trouble walking long distances but still improving. Lost your channel a while back but I found it again. Gonna celebrate with breakfast at a little store down the road and then go back to cleaning house. Anyone wants to see me they'll have to come here. Give me a reason for a break. lol

Oh Cole! It’s so cool - I started watching when you were 21 ! Five years now have passed and from the trash filled yard to what we see today - just utterly amazing! No wonder I kept watching!! Such a hard worker‼️
