I've been through every type of bow. Compound, recurve, tactical/survival takedowns etc. This exact bow is my favorite. The design is proven through years of ancient warfare, light as paper, compact and fun as hell. Just know it's going to beat your thumb up when you first start but you can just get thumb rings or develop calluses. Mines about 3 years old and still running strong.

Do you unstring it after every use or can I leave it strung? I prefer Mediterranean Release, I got a 45pd bow, what arrows would you use? What grain weight? Looking for some with feathers so I’m the arrows don’t hurt my hands upon shooting.

Use a thumb ring - thumb doesn't get hurt. It's much faster then the med draw, in my opinion

I had the same problems like You with aiming with this bow. I don't know why, because I am used to shooting short Turkish bows. But I real enjoyed Alibow's fiberglass old style Mongol bow and the Tibetan Quinghai.

The guys at Alibow know their craft. I have the tartar fiberglasbow from them. Might add while they are only USD70 currently their shipping is currently around USD 50 to europe, and you have to add in customs. In my case it was another 20 Euro. My order took about 1.5months to arrive. But not Alibows fault, they handed it off to the shipping agency shortly after ordering, it obviously just hung around for ages there to wait for a plane. The arrowpass wrapping looks like stingray leather, but I am not sure, mine started to wear out after a month or so. Think it is a feature of fiberglass bows, if you do a long draw it is creaking some times, especially in colder weather. But all in all I can recommend their bows, if you want to try out Asiatic bows. They even offer laminateds bow if you want to upgrade later on.

My first asiatic bow was this Turkish Bow from Alibow. They actually sell it on Amazon in the US as well. Very inexpensive bow. Price has gone up since I've gotten it but still would recommend anyone who wants to get into thumb draw and asiatic style to grab this bow. When I got into thumb draw I didn't wanna break the bank in case it wasn't for me. Now it's my main form of shooting. This is a really good bow.

I received my one last week, same bow, same draw weight. What can I tell you? I love it! Aiming was an issue in the first days. You just don’t have to aim. It’s totally instinctive. I just look at the target and boom: center shot! For me it works at its best with the Ming guang by elongoutdoor. It’s really short and I don’t know if Slavic release would provide a clean enough release.

Nice review I was looking to get this bow to try my hand at thumb release and these asiatic style bows, but wasn't sure about it however I'm feeling a bit better about it now my only question is would a 50 pound draw weight version of this bow be good for thumb release? I'm been shooting three under with my Samick Sage Takedown Recurve at 40 pounds and have been wanting to go up in weight recently.

The lack of precision from Fiberglass only bows might be coming from the fact that the limbs are easy to twist. You don't have this problem with a well made ash bow, like your assyrian bow because the limbs are stiff for example

@@hambaallah1948 You're totally right, the shape and size of the siyahs are very important. That's why assyrian bows tend to be so powerful btw, it's because the siyahs are so thin and light that you have less energy wasted and you ensure good acceleration. My Jackal Archery Assyrian is a 52" long bow, with 33" draw length maximum. I am at 52lbs at 28" Shooting 10 grain per pound arrows, so 520 arrows I reach a speed of 200 fps. Usually a hunting bow shooting mediterranean draw with 28" draw length and the same arrows would be around 150 fps. So yes, the shape and size of the siyahs gives you the optimum draw length with good acceleration. Making a big difference because you from 150 fps to 200. So 45 m/s to 60m/s. In the first case you are around 33 J of energy, in the second you reach 50J of energy

I just purchased the 40 inch bow. Smallest bow I have. It seems like the string vibrates after shooting. No hand shock. I don't hear the twang on my other 7 horse bows. I will shoot more to see this aspect of the bow. I do like the size and can bringing to my ear. Maybe I need to twist the string more? No stacking. Great bow.
