This Bloody Conversation Needs To Happen. Period. | Kristel de Groot | TEDxAmsterdamWomen

If you want to empower women, empower their period. The Moon Day policy is for female employees, who can take one moon day per month when they have their period. Let's break the period taboo, let's start talking about periods at work and implement the Moon Day policy everywhere! The company is #25 fastest growing company on the INC 5000 list in 2021 and was created when de Groot’s partner and Co-Founder Michael Kuech, at 24 was diagnosed with cancer. Together with her Orthomolecular Nutritionist Mom and Aunt she developed superfood and plant protein mixes to help boost Michael’s immunity and overall health. The direct-to-consumer business was founded in Berlin and in 2018 the headquarters were moved to Venice, California. As the Chief Marketing Officer, Kristel was recently named one of Forbes 30 Under 30, and Inc Magazine’s 30 Under 30. She has been featured in InStyle, Well +Good, Thrive Magazine, and Good Day LA. De Groot holds a BBA in finance and accounting from Valdosta State University, and an MSC in Management from Cass Business School, London. She received her certification in plant based nutrition from eCornell University, graduated from INN as a plant-based health coach, has completed her 200 hour yoga teaching training, and is a former tennis pro. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

A now former co-worker, was having a bad day. She was grumpy, over opinionated, basically a jurk. I called her out on it. She stopped, looked at me and said. I am having my period, and it's taking everything in me not to kill everyone.

women cannot control having their period so we all need policies in every workplace to help with this issue, imo… like an extra paid day off or so

I work in one of the best work environments in the US, which is the federal government. We have sick days, but we don’t have Mondays on our time and attendance system. How do we go about this? We also have free feminine products in our workplace, which is very hard to find in a lot of places.

the fact that this video only has 6.5 views yet only 170 of those viewers liked the video says it all . a personal opinion that would most likely resonate with most people: the world has been operating from an unhealthy, hyper-masculine mindset which desperately needs to shift to incorporate harmony for diversity and inclusiveness of each and every one. i think Moondays is one of the stepping stones in doing so ❤

Yes, the taboo needs to be broken, but there are lacks in this presentation, and those need to be given attention. First off: the period is not a problem in itself, as I’m sure you agree. It’s the sociatal structure in which women are working equally to men that is a problem for the period cycle/struggles/pains. It’s a way of thinking that needs to change. Secondly: good for you and your company with the Moon days, that’s a step in a right direction but wtf is up with giving this to people identifying as women but not experiencing the menstruel cycle. That is just weird and unfair to everyone. It defyes the purpose entirely. I couldn’t watch anymore after that last nonsense thing. But I’m thankful you were brave to go on stage, to try something different at least. Good luck to all of us.
