Junhwan has to actively attend school in Korea due to certain laws about student athletes, now that he's been a college student since covid. This is likely the reason he's leaving Orser, since he can't really be at cricket anyways.

I’m looking forward to reading Gracie’s book. It will be refreshing to read a skater biography that isn’t whitewashed, and I think it can be helpful for those who struggle with some of the same issues.

I was kind of surprised how much press Cha "leaving" the TCC got. He's been training in Korea since COVID started; while I don't doubt that Orser and co. continued to provide some valuable tips from over Skype, he hasn't been primarily a Cricket guy in three seasons already.

    P. S. You're so right about reality shows helping get sports fans! My friend used to mock me for getting up at 4am to watch live skating events. But because of some Netflix show, she's now into Formula 1, getting up at 3am and buying expensive tickets to a race in Vegas! BTW, the same friend is a loyal every 4 years skating watcher. Lol. Bless her. I'm her "expert", who updates her with all of the TSL tea that NBC won't mention. 😁

In ice dance, I'm most interested to see Olivia Smart and Tim Dieck. They both have huge personalities and seem to be gelling really well. I wonder if they'll be right in there with the "B group" or if the judges are going to make them earn their way all the way up the ranks.

Recently, JunHwan was a guest on one of the famous Korean Variety Shows (2 days and 1 night), which is usually available on youtube with several subtitles. Hope more Korean skaters can be involved in television shows because many people are highly interested in and invest their time in Korean shows especially the "younger" generations.

Enjoyed the discussion! Very intrigued about Kaori's upcoming "mysterious and dangerous woman" program. 👀Cool that she's working again with Marie-France but too bad she won't be working with Rohene again. The 'heavy like a first day period' SP was one for the herstory books. Also excited for Wakaba's return, love and miss her always. Hope Jun keeps the momentum from the end of last season because I love his skating and know he has what it takes to be a champion. Also looking forward to Jason and anything and everything he does. For dance I'm looking forward to the 80s theme, should be fun. Even with veteran teams C/B and G/P returning I'm curious to see how some of the developing teams look this year, especially the reigning junior world champions from the Czech Republic. I think they could be a team to look for at the next Olypmics.

Gracie is truly a wonderful person. When she left the rink I thought she would never come back. But she overcame a lot of problems and came back! I admire her because she is not only beautiful but she has a wonderful spirit ♥️(I will buy her book!). Rika is also a beautiful person and I believe she will get over her problems too! But I think what she needs to do now is to focus on her treatment instead of forcing herself to compete. Although it is not a hot topic (lol), the ice show of Mao Asada, a former Japanese athlete, will be over soon. It seems that Wakaba, Mai and other young skaters came to this ice show. I also saw this ice show and I could feel that all the skaters were enjoying themselves and it was fun to watch. I know the current skaters are under a lot of pressure, but I hope they can enjoy skating as much as Mao and the other skaters did.

I can't remember the last time I heard skating being discussed in the office. Most people barely know the Winter Olympics is even on. Not making that up, sadly. I think I knew it was getting bad in 2006, when people in my office chose watching week 2 of American Idol over one of the marquee skating events. ☹️🤷‍♀️ Week TWO! 🙄

I agree with you, Dave, about giving an option for three events to certain level skaters. If you cannot do it because it’s too intense to do 3 events in the span of three months and then a Grand Prix Final, then do two events. If you are Meagan and get an invite and have the hutzpah to go for it, then do it. Why do people have to write in & be offended at Dave for endorsing that? lol

One thing you didn't touch on with comebacks -- Nathan Chen! I think he might try one of those rare-in-figure skating comebacks prior to the Olympic season. Why do I think that? Because at a Stars on Ice Meet 'n Greet I asked Nathan directly if he would return to compeititon and he said "that is the plan....that is under consideration". My take, he loves skating, he might be missing it. He seemed to be truly enjoying himself at SOI. Maybe he will dive into that for a few years between school and career.

And in modern day skating, often high level Oly hopeful skaters don’t pay the “rack rate” for all the hours coaches spend on them, with the understanding (written or not), that if there is big money somehow to be made after the Olympics, the coach/chor will share in that bounty.

Adventurous, bit of a daredevil, loves animals, dance, and Megan Fox (random) among other teen interests. Even as the golden child she has a bit of an alternative streak. Not as subdued and obedient as Scherbakova not as rebellious as Aliona. Kamila has really come into her own in the past couple years.
