This 2002 Honda Odyssey is an Under-Appreciated Childhood Warrior

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Second Generation Honda Odyssey is one of the most recognizable vehicles on the road. There's so many of them! Thanks to my friend Jesse for letting me shoot his family's van before it goes!

Those automatic door sounds. So nostalgic. And they do sound “tired” 😂 as the Van ages. Ours started to as well when we had it. Back when we had it I had to spray silicone lubricant in the mechanism and cables to help the doors from getting stuck.

I have an '04, and this video describes it perfectly! Honda Accord with a big ass, yep! Mine has 211k miles...I'm a mobile auto detailer and it's my work van. I have a water tank mounted where the middle seats were, and it carries all my crap because it's big. Always starts right up, runs fantastic. I did a paint correction and headlight restoration on it and it looks pretty damn good.

My brother has a 2002 Honda Odyssey also. About 200k miles, he had a transmission problem. Got it overhauled. Then 3 months after the repair, he got problem about transmission fluid overheating. The Transmission shop recommended to add oil cooler. The van has been running great. The white paint was cracking. You can use your finger and get a chip of the paint. He got it repainted white just like the original color.

Peak Odyssey was the 3rd gen 2008-2010 model. They had more comfort features than the 2nd gen, the heavy-duty 5 speed transmission from the Ridgeline/Pilot/MDX that didn't fail like clockwork after 80-100K, and overall more usability. Just get a muzzle for the VCM system if you have an EXL or Touring and you will be set!

Exhaust on the 1999-2004 odyssey was definitely more snarly sounding than the more quiet 2005-2010. Acceleration was a bit quicker than the 2005+ as horsepower was nearly the same with added weight .

Just stumbled upon your video and wanted to say thank you. I have been considering a 02-04 Odyssey but I am very nervous about the transmission issues. I see so many people that haven’t really had a lot of issues or don’t make it out to be the world ending catastrophe that a lot of others make it out to be. Thanks for the great real world review and thoughts! 👍🏼

I also was watching videos of your 3rd gen Odyssey. Odessa was a good Odyssey. One thing I do find interesting about the 3rd gen Odyssey is the sound of when the power doors start beeping. I'm sure Odyssey's have that lol. I wish u kept Odessa. I do like that second gen Odyssey, second gen Odyssey is my favorite generation. I wonder who owns that van in the video?

Miss this van. Had an '03 EX-L with everything but navigation. Sold it at 215k because I was scared of the mileage. Have a 3rd gen Sienna now and honestly prefer the 2nd gen Odyssey. And yes, the transmission will grenade. Ours had ours replaced at like 120k; you just plan to change the transmission fluid out every 2nd or 3rd oil change. Great vid!
