This 1960 Maserati 3500 GT Spyder Vignale Is A New Start
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
These are pieces of art. "In those days, engines and cars had personalities, and you could certainly see that from driving them.” Explains Phillipe Reyns of his 1960 Maserati 3500 GT Spyder Vignale.
Cruising through the desert back roads just outside of Scottsdale, Arizona, behind the wheel of his gorgeous blue over red leather Gran Turismo drop top, Phillipe retells the history that lead Maserati to infuse their racing roots into production cars.
“Before the war in the 20s and the 30s, racing was their thing. They were not concerned about making road cars. The primary reason for existing was racing, but to have a road car to sell along side is what paid the bills for racing. So, it was an easy decision for Maserati to build a road car. These cars were selling for quite a bit of money in the day and they really helped Maserati keep racing.”
Originally focused solely on racing, like many automobile manufacturers Maserati was faced with serious financial limitations post-war. It was decided building production cars would greatly benefit its competition program.
“The history of the Maserati 3500 GT started, really, in 1957-the banner year for Maserati. They won the Formula One championship with the 250F, and then they had success with their sports racer, the S350.”
Maserati continued racing and the world benefitted from some of Italy’s most beautiful creations, the rest is history.

Rolling sculptures like these take my heartfelt loathing of modern cars to a whole different level.

I guess it's quite off topic but do anybody know of a good place to stream new series online?
when the screen goes black for a second and you see your reflection in the screen with a huge smile in the face, you know you are watching a petrolicious video - thank you! :)
What is there not to like about the personality of a long, in-line 6 with 12 spark plugs? Kudos to Mr. Reyns for taking good care of this lovely car and even more so for driving it. In the 1960s there were very few people who could afford a car like this so it was built as a work of art with a personality. Nowadays there are so many millionaires that these cars now have to be built on mass assembly lines. Even sadder is the fact that the millionaires of today, for the most part, have no sense of elegance or aesthetic individuality, simply want to impress with wild design and fantasy numbers of horsepower and speed. This is paradise for manufacturers, but a sad state of affairs for those who still enjoy machines with personality and character.

I could not have spoken better
I like the relaxed cruising speeds used in this video. It demonstrates the touring characteristics of the gt cars and proves you don't need to go to redline to have fun.

I think he finally got it over 2000 rpm in the last minute or so.
I admire this channel. Extremely well put together.
Music is perfectly matched to this art film.
I can always appreciate a rolling work of art
I love the styling of this era. The Vignale is one of the best.❤
The editing and production is fantastic! Well done Petrolicious.
A beautiful Maserati and from a time when cars really had individuality and such style. Interestingly, how similar the Alfa Romeo 2600 spider looks to the 3500 Vignale spider, especially when on Borranis. Great video once again, the Dvork symphony was a perfect score for this and once again a real enthusiast knowledgeable on his car of choice.
A beautiful car; I am happy for this man. Someday, when I am a little older, I hope to achieve this sort of bliss.
The serine look on his face when he is behind the wheel makes me a little jealous.
Both his watch and his car are on point!

Lovely car and the owner knows his Maseratis
The pacing of this video is bloody perfect
I love this channel. Almost all the cars here are real pieces of art and these films reflect that. And in this one, the owner of this beautiful Maserati pointed out exactly why I never wanted a new car. They lack the soul these old cars had, they are all the same with all the high-tech accessories that distract you from driving or help you with that, taking full control out of your hands, and with the engines built around being more and more clean and economical rather than enjoyable and nice to use... car industry will never be as great as it was for us petrolheads.
I'd love to see this team put together a full length documentary about classics from around the world and how they relate. I bet it would be glorious.
I like his comment at 5:51-6:15. That how life itself is. Once you experience something better their is no way to go back to a closed car"
Beautiful car, Phillipe! Beautiful video, Petrolicious!
One of your best videos! Great and beautiful car, and owner was talking nice and interestingly. We need more people like him :)

Love the videos. Thank you...especially the camera and sound editing. PERFECT!
What a treat !!! One of my absolute favorites classics ever, being born 1960, and half Italian / Norwegian, this video with Grieg Music was a perfect retreat for me :) The design of this car has obviously been an inspiration to many oncoming period cars, the DB 4, the Cornice and others. Thanks a lot
Production of these videos is top class the exhaust note over the music is a great touch and sir the honor is ours thank you for sharing your car with us.
What a gentleman!! thank you!
She is a discrete beauty, nothing more nothing less Thank you for sharing these moments so well filmed.
Thats the music from Civ V in the beginning. I've put too many hours into that game Oh and the car, beautiful of course. What a machines maserati used to make (and in my opinion still makes)

good ear. good taste.
Arguably the 3500 GT Spyder is the best Maserati ever. For sure is one of the finest Italian granturismo.
wow, loved it. definitely one of you best videos. Magnificent!
This channel is the best car channel in KZread. I enjoy their life story and passion for car. Thank you
The stopwatches/clocks in on the central tunnel is so cool :)
Beautifully stunning; thank you for sharing. What a motor.
Fabulous car, classy guy and finally the suitable music for such a classic car! Thank you for the film!
Perfecto, every things is nice on this video, good music ,good pictures, good car, nice owner ,merci again
What a wonderful peace of hand built automobile that is , with an beautiful designed engine and sound. With a very gentle owner which smiles every mile :-) . And all sports car is best looking with out any license plate in front , maybe all auto is ? Beautiful filmed too!
never realized until the video... it's like the perfect lovechild of a 250 swb cal spyder and p1800.
Beautiful car, music and scenery, and the owner is a class act!
Great music choice and ended it with pure engine note. Perfect as usual Petrolicious.
such a fantastic car ❤️👍 thank you for presenting 👏
Great video work and sound thanks
Lovely film thanks so much.
It has got to be in the top 5 most beautiful cars ever made.
Wonderful, beautiful piece of film ...
Beautiful car and another superb video. You can see some of the aspects of Michelotti's later Triumph TR designs in the Masa'.
Alternating that beautiful engine sound with some Dvořák...your videos are getting better and better each time.
Like this gentleman, I was driving classic cars when they were just used cars. Wish I still had the 1959 Alfa Giulietta Spider I restored in the late '90s. It wouldn't be the daily driver my '16 MX5 is but it sure would look pretty in the garage.
Beautiful car. These in both hard and soft tops are some of the best cars Maserati ever made.
Such a beautiful car. You guys make great videos. Thanks for all of the hard work. Perhaps you could consider getting a few of these lovely machines with their lucky custodians together and show cars of the same era for comparison?
your videos set the standard for other channels. Keep up the great work!
What an absolutely beautiful car!
Wonderful car, what a style, so refined in every way, DOHC all alloy twin spark engine, Vignale body full of details, beautiful interior... Love Maseratis
Great car great guy! Another beautiful video thanks!
Well done! Great shots as usual, and the moment of quiet as the car bumbled along was refreshing. It's always lovely music, but sometimes just gets a little distracting..!
Auto meravigliosa! Veramente molto bello anche il filmato: complimenti!
Beautiful, thank you.
The owner is a total class act as well.
Sublime, Maserati
One word GORGEOUS!💜
everything about cars in those days had personality, even the engine.
Timeless Italian elegance.. just beautiful. Infinitely preferable to just about every car I can think of today. Have we really progressed?
Dvorak is a perfect selection for the video; well done!
Beautiful car. The good Doctor also races Lolas.
Thanks for this great vid very informative person
Just beautiful.
3.59 the coolest dude ever!!!
Sublime, the car, the person and the video very good.
I like how these kind of motorhead manipulate their machines. With care and love. I'm one of them. Do not have a Maserati like this though...
What a legend in a legendary car
Lovely man indeed !!
very beautiful car. from the side and front it looks like a triumph TR6, with rear lights from an MGB GT
Petrolicious at its best. A beautiful car, a Patrician owner and a great video. Love the owner's views and the music selection is brilliant.
At 3.56 he passes a cactus that looks like the Maserati logo, and again a few times at 5.04 5.06. probably just my imagination. I absolutely love the sound of the engine, even with all the exhaust sound tuning available these days , modern cars can't match this car. enjoy your beautiful car sir!
L'esthétique de la vidéo est magnifique.
Man ! What a car !
I really appreciate his liking for open cars. Once you go top down it's hard to go back :-)
I really enjoy Dvorak in the background.
I really enjoy these rarer cars and less egotistical owners so much. Great work, Petrolicious.
a new world music at the begining ;) Nice one
Guys, he wears a Patek 5960P in slate grey dial !!!
It's nice to hear his knowledge about the car and the brand in general. I wish the channel would have let us know more about the owner, who he is, how he got into cars, etc, etc., That would have added much to the story.
Lovely car ..... always wanted one, though I did own a 1961 3500 coupe for a few years. This particular example is exceptional, spoilt only by the boomy exhaust system which robs it of the true gutsy sound of these 6-cylinder masterpieces, including Sebring and Mistral.
3.5 L V12. astonishing old lady :)

How very cosmopolitan! Soundtrack by a Czech in honor of Iowa, Belgian driver/owner, piloting an Italian car through Arizona. Che buono!
I love the Dvořák theme in the film. And the car of course.
fantastic!
Wonderful Patek 5960 on the wrist
I am the same age as the car, except the car looks better.

If anything, it actually gets worse with age.
Am I the only who found the owner just as intriguing or more than the actual classic car?
I'd love to have a 3500 GT coupe
Very classy
Art.
The history that we talk about ..... this guy has "lived" it!

...capolavoro!!!!!!!!!!!
It's such a shame that (at least in Europe) Ford reduces legendary coachbuilder names like Ghia or Vignale to overpriced versions of Mondeo (Fusion) and Edge.
I always find it interesting what the Italians and yes Porsche, were doing in the 50's and 60's when it comes to automotive design and what the Americans were doing. Beautiful works of art vs. tail finned land barges.
Bellissimo!
I love the video! Could I use it for an instagram post?
Is It a 4 wheeler? Looks very high on wheels. Great video ans great car as usual
