This $101,000 Genesis G90 is more luxurious than Hoovie's Maybach???

Thanks to Genesis of Wichita for loaning us the G90. Check out their inventory here: www.genesisofwichita.com/

You should test the Genesis by using it as your daily driver for one week, then the Cybertruck, and do a comparison between both of them - a $100k vs. $100k daily driver.

In 2018, while attending a car show I noticed a beautiful car in the area reserved for Rolls Royce/Bentley new models. I thought that it was a new Rolls model, but it turned out to be the new Genesis G90. I considered this model to be the nicest, understated example of a full-sized luxury car with the best body lines. The new car price at the time was in the low 70's which made this car a fantastic buy. In 2020, I found a beautiful, low mileage first year example and paid only $40K. My G90 has turned out to be the best, most reliable car that I have ever owned. True, understated elegance for a very reasonable price. By the way, my research indicates that this model in South Korean or Western Europe sells for a much higher price. It seems that Genesis wanted to penetrate the American market at any cost.

Do you remember what you saw the G90 going for in Asian/European markets? I'm curious how much of a discount we are getting for them to try for an invite to the 1%-ers club. Honestly, as good of an argument as the G90 is for Genesis being more universally considered a luxury brand, the mass market Kia/Hyundai SUVs/Crossovers that they have been coming out with more recently look so fantastic compared to the competition that they are moving public perception of the brand up market on their own. It's a good sign for any brand when your newest models for consecutive years are so good looking and popular that people are _happy_ to pay $10-15k over sticker in order to ensure they get one. Now they would be smart to work on their reliability, because while they do offer the best warranty available on new cars, I've heard it's hard to actually _use_ the warranty when things happen, and looks will only get you so far if reliability is lacking.

There will always be people who don't care about a brand's pedigree. They will choose lesser models and kid themselves (They think It's just as good). It takes year to develop a reputation (Mercedes, BMW, Porsche). You can't be a real luxury car just by copying luxury features and saying you are a luxury car. The day you can sell a Genesis for the same price successfully as the Maybach will be when they are regarding as the same. Don't believe that, ask Audi or Acura (Phaeton or the NSX)

We have been many many places in this car and is very very comfortable on long drives it does all I could ask for in a sedan. The 3.8 V6 is 333 hp a non turbo motor gets 30 mpg on the highway and does it in total comfort. She bought in 2019 for 15k and so far its has been trouble free. I’d buy another one again. As someone who works in the auto industry I feel for the people that have to put all that fancy tech into a car like that to build it. Nice car none the less!

I think the Hyundai Genesis, and the subsequent 1st gen Genesis vehicles are one of the best value used luxury sedans. I'd love to see one on Hoovie's channel as a comparison to this. They get all the depreciation of a normal luxury vehicle, with the added depreciation that people do not care about this badge at the moment. I would anticipate you also get reasonable Hyundia reliability, which other brands cannot say.

@@nealewalter I have a 2011 Equus w/ 122k on the clock. Had to replace the rear air bags and front air struts. Bought them on ebay and had an Indy put them on. Maybe $1500. Other than that, oil changes and tires. Great car.

I liked my Genesis but, flipped it after the dealership could not figure out a vibration issue that I had in 4x times to have fixed over an almost 2 year period. They pretty much told me too bad, so ya, never again. I felt like I was being treated by a Kia dealership from the early 2000s. The dealership "Genesis" Experience is not what it was cracked up to be. Too bad, the car was great other than the constant vibration (there was issues with trim pieces as well, needed replacing every half year). Hope other experiences people have are better. This was in Canada.

About a decade ago I heard that Hyundai, or Genisis were shooting to provide vehicles for livery service use. From what I am seeing here they have made it in spades. There will likely be a number of these providing luxury transportation by livery service companies, and some will get cut apart and stretched out to become limousines. It sounds like the goal may have been met.

I love the refreshed genesis I got to drive a g70 3.5t compared to my Audi a6 I felt the Audi interior was better the genesis had 360 camera and adaptive cruise my Audi does not but has the option for it the interior cabin space is smaller than the a6 but that’s because the g70 is coupe ish felt a lil more enclosed without a lot of wiggle room love the exterior of both they have beautiful lines and curves with. Somewhat aggressive design

I wish Cadillac and Lincoln had done this with the "CT8" (that wasn't) and the Continental. The CT6 and the Continental were both very competitive, but they had their setbacks in execution that really limited their acceptance. Neither brand has recovered from the harm done from breaking into a market only to leave a short time thereafter.

I have a 2024 GV70 with the 3.5 twin turbo in the top trim, and it’s way more luxury than anything else I’ve ever owned, and I’ve always been a fan of luxury vehicles, although I’ve never had a Rolls Royce or Bentley unlike Hoovie. Genesis hits way above their price point overall.
