My coaches in the 90s would never tell me that they thought I was too short to be an elite fullback. This was before wingbacks were common in the sport, sweepers and stoppers were still in use, and Americans thought elite defenders _had_ to be tall. I'd have awesome tryouts for club and ODP, totally shutdown every striker unlucky to be on my side of the field, and yet I still wouldn't get promoted beyond a certain point, no matter how well I performed. It was only many years later that I finally realized why. I had exactly one coach late in my teens that encouraged me to move to winger, but even he would never explicitly tell me why he wanted me out of fullback. What galls me is that I would have been receptive to fully transitioning to winger, but all these coaches were too weeny to just straight up tell me that my height was a problem for them. Like they wanted to spare my feelings. But what actual good did that do me? I needed honesty. _That_ would've helped me.

Hey unisport please help me . I am an 14 year old Indian who wish to be a pro footballer. But all I can do is practise alone because there is no ground or turf near my home . Also now I am 10th grade student my parents doesnt also promote me to play . My schooling time is morning 8 am- evening 5 pm . Its a bit longer so I will practise football alone in morning 5 am to 7 am . But sometimes I wont practise at that time though because of my exams , my parents would scold me if I practised during exam times. My skills also goes down during that time. So can you please make a video for indians, cause most of them were like me , please make a training schedule for indians considering the schooling time and everything. Also make or tell us some drills that I can improve playing football as an 14 year old. please tell us

Everyone is in that situation. Try to get to Europe and find a way to sign a contract with a pro team. You'll just need football skills and money. Good luck for exams!

Keep improving everyday. Make sure you reach out to as many clubs as possible. Coaches need to know who you are. They can’t see everyone. So your job is to put yourself in front of them as much as possible. Way to start is by contacting them via email, phone, etc. Let them know who you are! When your opportunities come, you’ll be prepared since you have been practicing every single day!
