Also let’s not forget the time that the producers forced the moms to bring up Melissa’s divorce and why she wasn’t wearing her ring and she said “They’re doing this again!” probably referring to the producers and NOT the moms when she was on the phone with her attorney. this may be something the producers have had the moms do before because they know Melissa doesn’t like to talk about the whole “sleeping with her boss”

It’s not just about Holly having a PhD in education though. It’s because she and Nia are some of the only Black representation this show has. It is gross and prejudicial to paint a black mother as someone not prioritizing education for their child when you literally have MELISSA openly pulling her kids out of school to WORK more. Holly, as a black mother, does not deserve to be painted in a light that perpetuates stereotypes and possibly put her in a position of danger. And it’s such typical white male producers to say “oh it just bothers her because she’s a highly educated individual” - NO, it is SO much more than that when you are dealing with a Black mother and child. Holly and her education has almost nothing to do with how wrong it is to push a narrative that she doesn’t prioritize her kids education. Again, this is especially gross when you remember how open and proud Melissa was of taking away the time her kids spent in school just so they could train and work more in dance.

@@peachbellini106 I will not argue with the ignorant. As a white woman in America, I am highly aware of how racism has been fabricated into the DNA of this country. Black mothers are 100x more scrutinized for the choices that white mothers are praised for. Black mothers are laughed at, put down, persecuted, and dehumanized more than any white mother in this country. Regardless of her educational qualifications, Holly, as a person, does not deserve that treatment. Regardless of how you *feel* facts are facts, and years of history, legislation, economics, and sociology will show you how differently black mothers are viewed and treated when compared to their white counterparts. You can praise Melissa all you want, but you are not going to sit here in these comments and try to erase the racism that is present both on this show and in this world. It is unsafe for a black mother to be painted that way. It could mean DFS investigations; it could mean her career could be on the line, and it could put her literal safety on the line because whether you want to face it or not, racism is still deadly in this country. Then people like you come here and praise Melissa for taking away her child's access to education to work more - as a CHILD. All for what? Fame? “Success???” she was a child that should have been in school. Her mother prioritized making her child famous over learning. That's not on Maddie. That is on Melissa. It wasn't in good faith. It was in selfishness and wanting to make her kid a star. And because I am sure you are the kind of person who needs things spelled out for them - so many things are more important than stardom. She could have worked professionally after high school. Many professionals do. I know because I grew up dancing with many girls who did this after high school. It isn't a sacrifice Melissa HAD to make.

I find it almost hilarious listening Jill and Melissa talkbabout how "horrible" the show was. Especially Jill! She absolutely loved being on the show, she was in a few episodes of a cheerleading show that her oldest daughter was a part of. I think it aired on Lifetime. Holly saying something about "she'd never say a child's name and talk badly about them" and Jill was like "I agree" Jill you literally was so mean to Brynn. Even if it is "scripted" Jill called her names and about her dancing abilities like Holly said she'd never do that so why did you Jill? Jill loved the limelight. I feel like Melissa did what she had to do. Meaning she became BFF'S with Abby constantly kissing her butt. Then once Melissa had no more use for Abby or the show she left. Maddie and Mckenzie were famous without the show. Especially Maddie she became way bigger then the show. Once Melissa had no more use for Abby and the show she was out of there.

Melissa actively tried to leave throughout S3. That was before Maddie blew up with Sia. Abby didn’t make any of those girls famous, since she didn’t cast the show that gave them the platform. I wouldn’t really doubt she hated being on the show, especially since regardless of her being sneaky, she didn’t like confrontation, and producers were constantly trying to force her personal life/her kids’ home life, that they knew nothing about, out into the world.

This makes me question season 1 episode 11. Nationals, when Kurt (idk how its spelt, Melissas ex husband) was in the dressing room. With what we've learned abour Kurt, maybe he wasnt the best father to Mackenzie and Maddie but ALL of the moms were grinning ear to ear in that scene. Like they are watching their own husbands interact with the girls, i feel like maybe that was actually a really sweet moment but maybe the producers cut it and made it seem like Maddie wasnt that glad to see him. Christi said in an interveiw for the episode that Maddie was kind of cold with him, but surely the moms would have been involved if they thought Maddie or Mackenzie didnt want Kurt around. And if the girls didnt want him around and it was staged, i dont think the moms would have smiled so much. I was born to a split parent home, and i would usually act like Maddie and Mackenzie did in this scene when i got to see my dad, even tho he wasnt around much. Maddie and Mackenzie seemed like girls from a split home excited to see their dad in my opinion. Christis comment always felt out of no where for me but idk.

@@corimoon3360 i said it FELT like out was. If it wasnt so out of place, why was Christi smiling so big when Kurt and Maddie were talking? Coming from my own split home, i can understand how she looks uncomfortable. Its tense switching between parents. Especially if the parent isnt around often or at all. Just because its your parent doesnt mean you know how to act around them. If Maddies uncomfortable behavior is "learned" as you say, then my point still stands. Maddie loved her dad but was anxious because thats what her mom taught her shes supposed to be. I used to ask permission to use the bathroom literally every time i needed to go at dads. But you could bet money i was in dads lap and crawling all over him, using his as a personal jungle gym. I ADORED my dad as a little girl, but my mother woupd also lie to meand tell me he didnt want me and that he hated me. Spoiler alert, he adores me AND my brother(different moms) theres nothing in this world my dad wouldnt do for us. And now, as an adult i dont act differently wwith him or believe the bs my mother says about him. Children of split homes doesnt mean we somehow just suddenly hate one of our parents, it just means now we dont know what to do with ourselves for a minute. When we are shown its okay to interact, we open up a lot more with our second parent. So if Melissa shows the girls, no its not okay to interact with dad. They wont feel at ease around dad. That behavior is why i would sit on the couch at my dads for at least an hour by myself before even speaking to anyone after my mom dropped me off. My mom would pick fights everytime she dropped me off, causing anxiety for me. Melissa refuses to interact with Kurt at all on the show, if thats how it was off camera, then 100% their uncomfortability was taught tothem by Melissa. Doesnt mean the girls dont love their dad or dont want to be around him.

@@saphiregood2550 stop trauma dumping. You don't have to comment 2 full paragraphs about your trauma. All you had to say is that you went through something like this and then left it at that . You don't know if your experience is the same as maddies and kenzies. Don't compare your trauma to theirs. Everyone's trauma is different. Just because you went through something and they're showing similar signs to going through something like this, does not mean they are going through something like you. We really didn't have to hear your whole life story.

@@isadorav3949 yeah it doesn't do any good. It's just a way to be an attention seeker and make people feel bad for them. Like we didn't need to hear their whole life story. They always use other people's "trauma" as an excuse to comment their own. It's shocking how much people do it and its not like we can just stop it either.

Could you do an analysis of the episode where kelly left? I'd love to see how it really played out behind the scenes...because it all seems like the children were manipulated from the beginning.

I don’t care what the repercussions would have been… if someone LOCKED my child in the washroom I would be knocking that door the fuck down. I wouldn’t be giving in to that shit.

I gotta say it’s kinda of funny how they say Melissa got mad at production for making Kenzie say that but in one of the seasons at LA, she did a dance about it and Melissa says how popular that saying is and how they make t-shirts about it. But I know that could be all be production as well but I thought they would have stood up for themselves by then.

I think once Melissa saw people react to it as a cute and silly line that made Mackenzie more endearing, she didn’t care. She was only afraid cause she thought they’d twist it to make her look bad/like she’s not working as hard.

@@ang4588 yea I understand she was just being a protective mom and it was obvious they couldn’t trust production. I imagine she probably did say something to them about it and they just glossed it over like no big deal.

Ashley was awful and made a lot of comments that didn’t need to be made, but Jill was worse in my opinion. I couldn’t stand them and I couldn’t stand that they were constantly bringing in the kids to their drama.

Reality TV is a grey area legally and doesn't have the same laws a drama show would have.
