What about painting when you're 'in the zone', but when you return to it later you're too afraid to finish it because you'll only ruin it? I have like a million of those lying around...

omg this. this is why i make sure i finish a piece within 2-3 days max. I skip meals, sleep less, and sometimes I'm even afraid to take a shower because the water might wash away the mood... i'll stop there

From my experience, all artists feel like that 1) Children don't have inhibitions, they're not afraid of 'failing' aka being judged for what they do. Getting a mindset of 'nothing I do is wasted art time, because everything I do for my art is a step further than I was before' is really liberating (It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child.- Pablo Picasso) 2) Looking at something old and cringing is just a sign you're developing as an artist and a person in general. It's ok to feel that way, let it wash over you, then move on and tell yourself that what's making you cringe is just another landmark in you progress :) 3) Don't forget to find things you like about your old stuff. At the time, it was the best you could do. you worked hard to get there. Be proud of your accomplishments!

When i edit videos it's always like 'oh shiz, i'ma pee my pants, how long has it been since i got up from my computer'

When you get so close to the canvas you get paint on your face Lolol or when you tie up your hair to paint and by the end of it all of your hair has fallen out of the 1000000 clips and hair ties and there is still paint in your hair. And your leg for some reason

all the stuff that you said is right it's true and absolutely crosses my mind very often something a male artist thinks about - that financial growth plan: I say "Alright I'm doing pretty good with my drawing techniques already so tomorrow i'll start off my own youtube channel, and pinterest page or deviantart and i'll visit the store to order a few frames already...but wait my fingers are typing in google search juicy booty, my other hand happened to be working under the table already..oh 2 more days passed no page formed but i have that bouncing thing in my head and i've analysed where the lightening comes from how do the reflexes bring in more to the better view the angle of the camera was also well positioned..." the other thing i think maybe i'll try to interact with someone on the street maybe he's into art..um that guy looks too crazy to talk to, that lady looks too busy to be disturbed... oh there's that booty passing by ...well i didn't wash myself and cut my hair so i'll pass talking to her...+ i still leave with my parents what am i gonna say...anyways... well there's that homeless guy that stopped by to ask me for some change well he's too drunk and dirty...

WHY AM I STILL HERE? JUST TO SUFFER? 😂😂😂 This is accurate everytime whenever I wanted to draw something I am suck at.

lol, I so relate to this! I draw instead of paint, so for me, I'll run out of eraser so often, and sometimes I'll go to color a work and I accidentally use something that's a shade different from what I had in my mind and I'm like, "OH MY GOD IT'S RUINED! MY LIFE IS RUINED!" Or I'll come back to a drawing that I used to hail as perfection, and I'll be like, "Really? I thought this was good? It's not even MEDEOCRE."

Robin Clonts it only happens when i enjoy what im doing haha i do it to my sketch book sometimes, and now that im back into drawing as of late, i have been doing that XD i also feel really good knowing that my attachment to my sketchbooks hasn't really stopped.

So I'm in college for graphic design work and our computer lab studio area is in the basement with no windows.. so the common phrase for most of us here is, "Yeah, I don't remember the last time I saw the sun shine."

I forget to eat all the time! I''ll spend hours painting and then I'll stand up to take a little break and say "Oh dear" and I collapse because I'm shaking from lack of food. I guess it's true what they say about having to choose between growing up and being an artist x3

Did you just lose weight? Did you go on a diet or something? How do you do that all the time??? Teach me the secrets, SHISHO!!!!! me: ...... (thinking back, I was eating lots of snacks while doing a project until well into the night just to get most of it done....) I was snacking all night long.... I think...? Yeah, I was snacking all night long, why? *silence.....

"i think i need a real job (then after) I don't have time to do what i enjoyed!" totally me OTL I wanna quit but i'm stuck, they wanna drag me deeper in the office. Any artist who looks for a job because financial needs, my advise: take the less important thing, like, work in a caffé, or washing dishes, taking out dogs, or something in a supermarket, so you can throw it any time easily. Its exhausting, they pay less and sometimes it feels denigrating (i''ve been there too) but its not so compromising

Stuff I say as an artist: 1. "I'm gonna draw something today" (sometimes it happens) 2. "I'm not an artist." ( a.k.a. "my work is too simple/childish, idk if it's art"; a good way to attract attention, I think, but I still don't use it :)) ) 3. "What is art? 🤔" (really, what is it?) 4. "Hey, this turned out pretty well/Nope, this is not as good as I expected it to be" (usually I feel the opposite, depending on what I say) 5. "Hmm, a mistake; let's see how can we fix it" (inside me: "OH NO OH NO MY WORK IS RUINED WHAT IMMA GONNA DOOOOOOOO")
