The camera operator is charming! Definitely a better microphone. If you strim before putting the black plastic over, the wind is less likely to lift the plastic. I use the old fashioned two-hand clippers to cut as close to the soil as possible. I can also see what nuisances might be scurrying away. Considering where you started, you're doing well indeed.

With nets, chicken wire, anything you need to spread, start in the middle, work one side most of the way, then the other. Starting in the middle anchors the material. I have done much the same, have scratch scars to prove it. 😂

We have had a week or rain Anthony and now it’s insanely hot again 🤦‍♀️, I’m confused 😂 so I can understand why my plants are. 😂😂😂 oh come on a Steven Spielberg in the making. Remember it’s year one and you have done a fb job 👍 just imagine what next year will bring. Have a fab weekend, Ali ☔️👍🇨🇦

Today it has been hot then windy the heavy rain within the space of a few hours no wonder the plants aren't growing. Lol this was just a sort clip there was plenty other conversations she was having with the camera 😂. Yea one I always feel like I should have everything done just the type of person I am I can't stay still. I can't wait for next year and to start a growing season with a plot. Have a good weekend too.

With every new video there is good progress :) It is weird that some years certain veggies do not want to grow and others grow like crazy. This year my courgette does not want to grow, not even sprout....but my beans are doing very well, while the year before my beans did not want to grow and I had cabbages to feed the neighborhood. If You have a slug problem you may try crushed eggshells around the plants. The sluggs hate to go over sharp surfaces. Also if you plant thyme or chives here and there...the sluggs do not like it very much.

Thanks slowly but surly getting there. Hopefully the stuff will start growing I might have to put some more kale seeds out or go with my plan of spring onions or something easy for my first year.going to have to try something for the slugs I was hoping with it heating up they would have gone by now. I will have thyme if it keeps them away thanks

@@JacobsonFamilyAllotment I hear You...The first year of my allotment was mostly getting to know my space, clean up and organise how I wanted it to be. I also put in some easy growing plants to have something nice growing...I chose chard and radish, some onions and a tomato :) The chard did really well and kept on giving the more I harvested. So maybe chard is a nice one :)

@@dinahselah6364 yea I have been watching the plot seeing where the sun goes where is windy, if puddles are appearing. Might still have to change things after this year. I don't think I have ever had chard I might grow some just to see if I like it

Not sure what mic you are using Anthony but its doing a decent job of omitting the majority of the wind. I was laughing mate, you should have just used a bit wire or twine and tie it to the first cane, then to the next cane as you go around, then the very last piece of mesh gets tied to the bit it overlaps, But how you have done it, it will work and they will attach to it. You wouldnt believe how much i spent on compost in my first year or 2 mate. Now i make my own and still buy Clover multi and Clover professional occassionally.Sound quality is much better with the mic than without mate. I have tried egg shells, straw, chopped straw, Thyme even beer traps, the beer traps worked best out of all of them mate. Spuds are looking great. Tell the bairn she is better witha camera than i am 😉

@@JacobsonFamilyAllotment i bought one for about 40 odd quid last year, couldnt get the sound quality from it, sounded to tinny. Just ordered another with wind muffs lastnight. I made a video of a job i was doing the other day, had to delete most of the audio as the wind noise was deafening and do a voiceover. 👍

Hope your well, The chicken wire should be fine for your peas to grow as for slugs crushed egg shells. Slugs and snails don't like the sharpness of the egg shells. You are doing well it just down to hit and miss on what grows. Great camera work by your young apprentice. This will take a bit of time and very soon you will have a great allotment, catch you soon Take care

Actually Charles Dowding advises leaving extra cardboard outside the soil to keep the weeds from encroaching. You could bring a pair of hand clippers and cut away the weeds to satisfy the urge for neatness. 🇨🇦👍

If you grow cumfry put a few leaves in a bowl with a little water, mash it up to a paste and put it on any sprain or break and it will heal it, but have broken bones set first or the cumfry will heal the bone so fast it could fix in the wrong position.

@@JacobsonFamilyAllotment I gave ALL of my comfrey plants away last year mate, or at least i thought i did, a couple are starting to grow, when they become more established i will dig one out for you, they grow fairly fast and are quite invasive though.
