There are many communities with concentrations of Carribeans in London not just Brixton. In East London there is Hackney, in North West London Harlesden, in West London Ladbroke Grove (but has been largely gentrified) & Shepherds Bush, In North London Tottenham, in South London further out there is Croydon & Lewisham.

New Cross also. But I'd say that Brixton, Tottenham, and Harlesden are the most expressively Caribbean areas.

The stereotype of english having bad food comes from americans in ww2 when we had to survive on rations. British food and especially deserts were very well acclaimed before that.

Good Yt or traditional British people food would be - Fish and Chips, Pie and Mash, Sunday Roast, English Breakfast, sausage and mash etc But we have food from every country on earth especially in London, you have your American style diner food joints, you have local fried chicken spots, Chinese food, Indian food, Turkish grill and kebab, Italian&french restaurants, Spanish food and obviously Carribean and African food

There are lots of areas with Caribbean people especially Jamaicans in London like Brent and lewisham but also around the England like the place I’m from Reading has the largest number of Bajans outside of the Caribbean.

Weird watching this! I used to live there. I worked in a recording studio just off the "frontline" , where 90% of the music we recorded was (of course) reggae. Now I'm just an old white guy who doesn't live in Brixton, but strangely .... knows how to cook really good jerk, and rice+peas! Yep, Brixton has got "fashionable" now - bought out by people in the media, and City workers who want some "street-cred" and a transport link. Apart from round the general market area, there's not much of the old vibe left, unfortunately. It was much more fun in Margaret Thatchers time, when Brixton was full of rebellion, anarchist squatters, music and drugs (and very nasty cops.) The name of the drum you couldn't remember - it's called a "pan" or "steel pan".

@@mrebk3358 Yeah, London boy, T&T family, a proper roast is fire, Full English is such a good breakfast I eat it then go back to bed for two hours. Fish and Chips can be amazing, it's all about the batter and how the chips have been fried. There's very little middle ground... fish and chips is either the best thing in the world or something the cat and dog can't finish.
