They like to tax pleasure. All parties do it. Using "its bad for ya" as their biggest excuse. Entertainment, sugar, smoking, drinking, driving, being warm and so on. They tax the pleasure of having a roof over your head instead of sleeping in the street with Council Tax. Income tax pretty much taxes the pleasure of earning your own money. For heavens sake, they even tax food and hygiene products with VAT. You name it, they tax it. Now get back to work and stop questioning the powers that be. Oh, and make sure you walk it and don't get greedy by using the NHS when you wear your body out.

@@owengoodspeed5763 I think it’s fairly well proven that the bbc covered up for Saville they had an investigation and thought about sacking some people …. But that’s not proven ? But yes I would like to see everybody involved in court not just some watered down internal investigation. So I suppose we agree. The scandal had resulted in inquiries or reviews at the BBC, within the NHS, the Crown Prosecution Service, and the Department of Health. Lots of investigations for innocent.

Anyone that continues to fund the BBC, absolute shame on you.

One of these clowns rolled up here. After closing the door in his face I got his reg number and checked out his status and became elated when I found his vehicle had no tax on it since October last year. So being a law abiding citizen I reported the bastard to the DVLA via an online report form. Wonder if he'll get a knock in the not too distant .

Not advocating this at all, but hypothetically, if you pretend to be one of those scummy private parking companies, you can buy the address registered to the vehicle from the DVLA. Some might say they shouldn't be selling your private information to shady companies (including ones not even properly registered with companies house) but it happens every day, you might even have had one of their bs threatening letters. Anyway you could also hire a bailiff firm to harass them based on almost nothing, for some imagined debt, thanks to our corporate friendly government. Still hypothetically of course.

I sometimes wonder what the terms of BBC licencing are, i.e. are you required to "subscribe" to the BBC through the licence payments if you have a TV but choose not to watch the BBC? It's not even clear-cut who it applies to! It's hard to imagine a stranger, more dystopian scenario than a "forced subscription" to a particular channel!

The real problem is that the BBC got away with persuading the government in 1946 that the fee for listening to the radio - later watching TV - should be classified as a “licence”. That makes it much easier to criminalise eg driving or possessing a shotgun “without a licence”. Had it been properly categorised as a contractual fee (such as renting a radio or TV as so many people did in the 1940s 50s and 60s) this would rightly have been an entirely civil matter. But because the signals were freely available on air a more sinister enforcement method was necessary: the criminal sanction and the greatest hoax on the public at the time - detector vans.

I can't hear the telly through my hearing loss, and i have no interest in them either, and dont have a TV, but i still got fined £375, which i paid,

"Behaving properly" is a deliberately vague term devised to give a thin veneer of respectability to their predatory practices.

Why would the "professional" prosecution and judge take this seriously, why wouldn't the case be dismissed? Or are they just as morally corrupt as the notzi goon squad?

I believe it said in this instance she entered a guilty plea. That is not to say I think the Magistrate should not of applied a thorough reading of all the evidence presented. If this is how the SJP is being applied, then I believe this is not right or applying `justice' and is only concerned with `saving' money. Yet another law being sold to us on `good intention' and then being corrupted for other purposes.

Its such an outrageous fee that the MP's on their huge salaries wanted their TV licence fee's paid for by taxpayers that also pay TV licence fee's. Sickening and hypocritical beyond belief.

In Aug 2021 I cancelled my tv license through the official channels. Got a reply that i wouldn't be bothered for 2 years, and I wasn't. Then Aug 2023 I received a letter from them enquiring if I still did not need a license, to which I replied...I did not...because I don't watch tv. Again they acknowledged this. However, in the past few weeks I have had 2 letters addressed to the legal occupier, with the usual blah blah blah. Their right hands don't know what their left hands are doing, because having gone through the official channels, they have my details...Go figure !!!

Lucky first time I cancelled by phoning up I had 24 letters three visits. Don't get any anymore and didn't tell them two years later 😊 don't have to tell them squat . Was firm at my door no thanks and door shut 😂

The fact that these "enforcers" DO NOT make an appointment, so the person who has mental health issues can have an advocate there, nauseates me. I'm Canadian, I have mental health issues, and depending on the day, I'm either almost completely normal, or I'm so bad that I don't want to talk to anyone, including my family. Cold calling should be BANNED regarding TV licenses. PERIOD. Cold calling invites abuse of power, and I'm seeing it now, on another continent.

In theory, they can defend themselves. They can plead not guilty or enter some kind of mitigation. Then their individual case may be withdrawn from the SJP and sent to a full magistrate's trial. In theory, the SJP system only takes cases where a guilty plea has been received or no plea at all. That appears to be a deeply flawed system. Unfortunately, many people do not know their rights. Almost no TV licence prosecutions would occur if people knew their rights. The system requires the ignorance of the population. The system as it stands is wide open to abuse. And, where Capita is concerned, abuse is bound to follow.

You'll be pleased to know that we have finally taken the decision to not renew our TV licence when it expired earlier this week. Thank you for your great videos. I'm 64 (birthday 12th Jan!!), and have been disabled since I was 55. I'm on £6,000 benefit a year and live alone. I pay over £13 a month for the TV licence. It's crippling me. I dare not stop paying the licence fee because I know I'd be caught. It's the Government who are to blame as it's another firm of tax for them - to enable them to give everything free to foreigners who haven't paid a penny into the coffers. If I withdrew my TV licence and was taken to court, I'd take my life 100%. You only have to look at those poor post office workers to realise courts and government don't give a flying s**t.

I remember when this movement started getting big that the BBC started making pensioners pay the fee again I never thought they'd lose that much money that they'd stoop THIS low. When I move into my next property in February when I get that letter I'm going to reply to it with recorded delivery and tell them enough is enough. If I want their shitty service I'll contact them. 13 years and they still haven't got the message, this is one of the finals nail in the coffin.

What people tend to be forgetting is the BBC has never handed out free licenses to the over 75s. Those licenses were paid for by the government and it was the government, under Boris Johnson, that withdrew the _free_ licenses. So it's not any movement that's made the BBC charge pensioners again - technically they were already charging them, but someone else was picking up the tab.

There is also an issue in the way they treat vulnerable people on the doorstep.I have personally had to intervene when one of these tv licence goons was threatening my next door but one neighbour who is 82 years of age. She rang me very distressed after they said they could come into her property to check and get her prosecuted if she didnt comply.She has my number in case of emergency.I couldn't put on here what I said to him before he basically legged it. This sort of behaviour to the vulnerable should be outlawed. But they don't appear to give a dam.

They wonder why they are called Scum or Goons.

Its a joke, to say these “enforcement officers” receive training, before visiting people, especially with vulnerable issues. It is clear that they do not receive any training!!! The agency CAPITA and the BBC are disgusting. If this happened in the NHS, there would be all hell to play. Should be an opt out for everything, tax, national insurance, road tax and council tax. How can all councils be skint??? How are the roads shit ??? This must stop! The fact that not paying the TV tax is a criminal offence is plainly wrong and anyone who thinks it is OK needs a reality check. The first political party that makes a manifesto promise to rescing both the criminal element and the TV tax as well, will get my vote. This one really pressed my buttons. I suffer with mental health, im lucky that im ok and aware of everything going on. I have the ability to say NO, although I find it difficult. Why cant the BBC Pick on someone that is healthy and well? Looks like they picking on the vulnerable to me.

The BBC actually do more adverts for there own programs and radio than the other channels . I cancelled my licence a couple of weeks ago after watching your video's and Garry Linker's attitude and the obscene money they are paying him along with the BBC news only telling you the news they want you to know . I really only watched the news so will do without . Ive already had the letter making out I can't watch You Tube ,Amazon Prime , Netflic etc but know differently because of your video. I would like to say thanks for saving me money !

If the opportunity presents itself, a commission earning prosecution will be far from the last resort. In the last video describing a similar case, CJ described this as a dirty, horrible system, and he was quite correct. I would add that Capita are a dirty, horrible company employing dirty, horrible people. They, and the BBC, are quite a combination.

Well said. I have official carers handle much of my finances...I don't watch or record live TV, etc, and the letters and aggravation go on. Even when I had a license I was getting threats and visits because of a glitch in their system showing over years that I hadn't paid. My neighbour had the same problem.

Personality I haven't watched broadcast TV for 5 years+ but continued to pay the tv tax because my Wife used to like some of the crap on it. My wife passed away 18 months ago now but with my head all over the place I continued to pay it . November after having found your channel I informed them I no longer required a license, the only reason I Informed them was because I was due a refund. Had a £92 refund earlier this month and was told they won't write to me again for 2 years, but time will tell😅 But thanks to you and your channel I'm well prepared for if / when I get that knock, best wishes and thank you.

Jon, I happened to spot a bloke parked outside my house 2 days ago. He was sitting in his car for around 30 minutes and looked like he was "writing" something. I'm a nosey bleeder, so I kept an eye on him from my kitchen window. After 30 minutes, he got out of his car, then proceeded to stick something through mine and about 5 other people's letter boxes, then he drove off. The "letter" that he posted was a threatening form, filled in by hand, informing me that he had "visited" my address and that I needed to buy a TV license to avoid another visit, "day or night, any day of the week". It seems these GOONS are getting pretty desperate for their commission, even to the extent of PRETENDING to have visited. He never knocked on my door, he just posted the form and fucked off.

The problem is they prey on the less fortunate, because they know they have no chance of crossing a front door threshold of us supporters of your channel.

You have to blame the lawyers and courts for going ahead with these cases - disgraceful.

No lawyers involved in the Single Justice Proceedure if there is a guilty plea.

Just at fault is the broken court system that is convicting these people. Single Injustice Procedure

I do not have a disability that can be seen and I am terrified even though I don't watch anything bar KZread and Netflix. No live shows whatsoever. Yet the thought that based on their word alone, I could face court is awful, for anyone disability or not. This needs to stop

@kopkytoot Not on their word alone. I believe that most people who are prosecuted are intimidated into admitting they have been watching live TV, and signing statements to that effect. This is one good reason why the advice is to not engage if they pay you a visit.

Yeah don't answer the door....I've had them sat outside my house on and off for three years....one last night....had one visit just ignored it....Best if luck with these scum....

You need ITV to make a drama of this for anything to happen.

I wouldn't be surprised if they're giving the "sales rep" who caught the hardened criminals not paying their TV license a cut of the overall court fee/fine.

They obviously hire individuals who have no morals.or a conscience,.these individuals need to be held personally accountable for their actions!

My mum is 90 this May, and she doesn't have to pay for a TV licence, nor my 56 year old sister who lives with her. I'm 64 and live alone, disabled and have to pay it.

No, you're wrong. You DO NOT have to pay for a TV licence, it is NOT an obligatory tax in any form. Stop paying it if you want to!!

What made me lough the other day is seeing adverts on twitch saying you need a TV licence buy now 😂

When I was just 18 years old my parents were in a stressful time as one was suffering from mental illness.. as a result my dad forgot to pay the tv licence and in fact his business was suffering due to the situation.. a tv licence inspector knocked at the door and I answered.. because my parents didn’t have a tv licence they took me to court and I got an 18 month suspended sentence and a fine…I had never broken the law and was living in hell because of the traumatic home situation! I’ve never forgiven the bbc for this .. and that sentence was more than some paedos get! Truly disgusting.. that poor woman!!

I may be missing something but it appears that the BBC manages to burn its way through substantially more than £3.7 Billion it receives from the licence fee. It receives an additional income of around £1.5 Billion from its commercial arm. So it actually seems to get through almost £6 Billion . Keep up the good work

Yep right with you Jon keep doing what you are doing. Everyone else please try and find at least one family member or friend to stop funding this company. Because that’s all it is. There should be a law against these Barstewards doing anything like this before there superiors are dragged from their desks and thrown in to a high court then put in jail for 6 months per victim. The TV tax must be axed.

It was within the latitude of the magistrate to offer an absolute discharge or even a conditional discharge instead of a fine and a criminal record. As long as benches up and down the country regard the BBC and its gestapo as instruments of the establishment, this will go on. I do not believe for one second that things will change when the charter comes up for renewal. Governments simply have not got the testicular prowess to bring in the changes that are needed...

I live in Australia as an ex-pat of UK... I do not understand why UK cannot set up TV viewing revenue as we have in Australia... Australians DO NOT have to pay for a TV licence... In Australia, the funding for the national public broadcaster, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), comes primarily from the government through the regular budget process, rather than from a separate licence... THIS ELIMINATES THE NECESSITY TO WASTE MONEY ON CHASING DOWN PEOPLE FOR A LICENCE... THERE IS ALSO THE ADDED CARBON EMISSIONS FROM THESE ENFORCERS VEHICLES...👍😊

Yet another case of us v them. Until the Beeb decriminalised the TV tax or better still becomes a subscription service it's only going to get worse. It seems nobody is on the side of common sense until everyone stops paying for this unfair tax. I haven't watched live TV for more than 5 years now and I haven't looked back.

The equalities act 2011, means that TV licensing, targetting individuals in protected groups, very often amounts to criminal offences. I would suggest that forcing anyone within a protected group to appear in court, unrepresented, is reflective of direct discrimination and is also contrary to the act. Rather than endless clickbait videos on social media, why not start a crowdfunder, to cover the cost of a judicial review of direct breaches of the act, which in many cases are facilitated by the courts?

Glad to be a number not paying the stupid license fee. Ive sacrificed other live services but better that than support this riddiculuos show. They took me to court once and lost I will fight again if they try it.
