Transitive verbs with no object are one of the hardest things to deal with when translating from Japanese to English - especially when it’s done on purpose like here! When you’re having a conversation in Japanese it makes so much sense to just cut subject, or the object, of a sentence and skip straight to part you actually want to say. But then you switch to English and suddenly you have to have all these extra words in everything you say or the other person just won’t be able to follow you!

Try to get used to this. A lot of Japanese drama and comedy is based on misunderstandings, and not because of bad repetitive writing (like it often happens in English language shows), it's because of how you construct sentences in Japanese language. Very often the sentence can be interpreted as two or more completely different meanings, as you often don't specify the subject. This actually makes those misunderstandings part of life in Japan, and that's why it shows up in all Japanese media, manga and anime included.

Not a lot of people noticed but the reason he pierced himself wasn't because he thinks piercing is cool, it's a form of self harm because he was depressed people are casting him out

I think Toru is secretly one of the most well adjusted and emotionally stable characters in all of anime.

I agree also idk if you guys have watched the anime orange it’s been a while but toru reminds me of the orange hair dude from that anime. Both mature and great side characters 😭❤️
When Miyamura wondered if he was really part of the friend group, I cried because it resonated with me so hard. It took me a long time to get on friendly terms with some classmates and at times, it felt like I was a part of their group. But unlike with Miyamura, when it was time for group work or team projects, my "friends" would exclude me out leaving me alone. That was when I got confirmation, that even though it may seem like I was a part of their group, I was not.

Are you probably autistic? It tends to happen a lot to those with tism. I'm pretty sure from all the signs, I'm one too (especially when I recall how I was as a kid) but never got formally diagnosed. And to get diagnosed as an adult is kinda tedious in my country..
One of my favorite scenes that was cut out is when they all have a study session at Hori's place. It should be all of their first times, but its super clear that Miyamura has been there before. He knew where the bathrooms were, utensils, etc. And the friends get super suspicious.
The sub is confusing on this because in the co text of what they were saying he actually said "i love them" (her hands), but the phrasing is the same as "i love you", but it's not very clear, although he probably said that intentionally and really did mean i love you which is super cute! 😅

Yeah, this scene is just not very translatable at all, you either choose to translate the scene literally, which is saying "I love your hands, I love your hands too" and whatnot, or you translate the intent which is what they tried to achieve there. Either way it is not gonna transmit the same feeling as the japanese conversation. Wonder how they handled this in the dub, I heard it is a pretty good one
@N74.Joseph

"Suki" means "like", so she didn't said "I like them" or "I like you". This cannot be translated into English. The translation team understood what Hori wanted to express so they just wrote "I love you". That's why Miyamura didn't realize that the real "Like" Hori said was his finger or him.
I'm a simple person. I see Horimiya, I click.

as you guys guessed, this is a show where the main couple actually get together early on and we simply see their relationship develop further throughout the rest of the episodes. I love how much they interact with the supporting cast too; we actually get some episodes centered around the others which are really fun watches. Hope you guys enjoy watching the rest of this amazing rom com anime!

True. I haven't watched much of the 2nd season but some of the most interesting chapters of the manga was the love story of Kyoko's parents. It's there where we get to see how similar Kyoko is with her mom and how cool Kyousuke was when they were younger. The high school Souta chapters were nice too.
Can't remember the names 😅 it is literally the title. HoriMiya. Hori is the girl, Miyamura is the guy.

Theyre playing with our minds i did the same thing
I hope you didn't think much about Remy (pink haired girl who asked hori if she can take miyamura). Personally, I see her more as a people smart person not a book smart person (like what happened in ep 2). Her asking hori about miyamura is probably her way of pushing hori to make a move. Obviously, she has a bf, Sengoku, so there was no reason for claiming miyamura other than her being perceptive on the situationships.
You should definitely watch season 2. It's just the chapters that the manga didn't adapt in the first season so you could consider it like an extra story
the thing about the 2 seasons is that the manga is a rom-com alongside a lot of little stories of comedy slice of live, when they adapted to anime, they took just the rom-com part and adapted, the second season is called missing pieces, and they adapted the slice of life comedy chapters they didn't do in the first season. the first season you'll get all the romance they have and the jurney untill the graduation, and in the second season you'll have a comedy anime with the same characters untill they graduate, but now with some context about the relationship they have
About the second season i think that, if you guys really liked or get invested with the characters in s1, would be a great idea to watch season 2, because that's basically more interactions, details and developments.
@mezacharia

Yes! That's exactly what I was thinking too! If you're only interested in the story and how it ends, then it ends at the end of season 1 and season 2 doesn't continue beyond it. BUT, if you find yourself invested in the characters and would like to know more about all them, then season 2 is completely worth it and you'll probably love it.
This episode make me kinda nostalgia. My first interaction with my best friend was when one of his friend borrowed me money and didn't want to pay back, so he has him to beat me up so i wouldn't nagging about it. Unlucky for the guy, since it's a 2v1, while my friend (wasnt at the time) was punching me, I was soley focus on beating the guy who borrow me money 🤣Idk about girl, but guy friends do just beat each other up until they family

In middle school a guy threw a bottle of water and landed on my head, I punched him, he punched me back and 15 years later this dude became my groomsman. Guys friendships are the weirdest thing.
Top 3 romance anime for me
I had my fingers crossed for an upload, lets gooooo horimiya!
yo i love your accents ang the way you guys talk is weirddly comforting TvT
The subs are wrong btw, he never said “I love you” he repeated I love your hand. Obviously the subtext of the conversation is a mutual confession but he did’t actually say it.

Hi i just start to know your channel and i love so much how u both talk deeper abt horimiya’s each eps and all of the plot. I’d love to see you guys react watch to sign of affection. It was one of my top shoujo anime too. ❤ thank you for the reaction
Best Romcom🗣️
We want more! We want more!
i read the manga ages ago, so i might be hazy on that, but if i remember correctly, the confession was pretty early on there too
I want Episode 4 now I can't wait 😡
Damn it, I adore this anime.❤
Horimiya hooked me the moment i realized i was genuinely laughing out loud at the dialogue. Such great writing and performances. It also might be a small thing, but i adore how tolerant Miyamura is about the idea of gay relationships. Doesnt even bat an eye. It could be chalked up to being a little oblivious, but i noticed in one of the previous episodes when Hori asks if he likes Toru, he doesnt answer with the standard anime "i-its not like that!" or any revulsion at the idea. He answers genuinely that he doesnt think they'd be a good match. Now, could that still be an intended homophobic slight where the punchline is his non-homophobic reaction? Maybe, even probably. But whatever, art is defined by the interpretation not the intention.
Since you seemed interested in the voice actors of this show let me help out. Based on the voices you noticed. Miyamura Izumi: voiced by Uchiyama Kouki - Meruem from Hunter x Hunter - Shigaraki Tomura from MHA - Inumaki Toge (rice ball boy) from Jujutsu Kaisen - Rui (Lower Moon 5) from Demon Slayer Hori Kyoko: voiced by Tomatsu Haruka - Yuuki Asuna from Sword Art Online - Zero Two from Darling in the FranXX - Morgiana from Magi: The Labrinth of Magic Ayasaki Remi (pink twin-tails): voiced by M.A.O - Shion from Reincarnated as a Slime - Iris from Fire Force Iura Shu (green hair boy): voiced by Yamashita Daiki - Midoriya Izuku (Deku) from MHA - Yushiro (Tamayo's apprentice) from Demon Slayer Sengoku Kakeru (red-hair boy): voiced by Okamoto Nobuhiko - Bakugo Katsuki from MHA - Akabane Karma from Assasination Classroom - Himmel from Frieren - Shinazugawa Genya from Demon Slayer Yasuda Shin (Guy teacher): voiced by Tsuda Kenjiro - Nanami Kento from Jujutsu Kaisen - Kai Chisaki (Overhaul) from MHA
Just as a heads up, on some of the episodes (Episode 7 in particular), if you haven't made it that far yet. There is a scene after the ending song that is pretty notable. Its worth a watch. loving the reaction though.
One of the best romance anime
Yall should check out : A Galaxy Next Door
You need to watch some of the endings after the closing song it will give you a little more context
Dangers in my heart next please
Hori and Miya are both cute together
0:12 Me, reading the manga where everybody's hair colour is the same xD
First 🔥
along with love is hard for otaku, i would also recommend acchi kocchi
Can you react to the anime : Eminence in shadow😅
❤
Names are literally in the title Hori-Miya
React to dangers in my heart it is one of the best romcom of last seasons better to give it a shot
Yes we want more! If you do not finish this I will be disappointed in you two. (not really just sad)
The animators rushed s1 because they actually didn't think it'd perform that well
Adopted by an Extrovert gang :^) wanted to stop existing when the core friend was ill and it was group work time gang
If you're looking for another show that has this same level of romantic humor with the same maturity this show has you should check out A Sign Of Affection. It's got that same "no BS" dancing around words type romance; characters say what's on their minds and nobody holds feelings back to prolong the story for no reason.
Miyamura shows more of his violent side.
Hi! I did a short from this video. Where can I send it to you?
Second
Can you react to anime "dont toy with me, miss nagatoro" (day 4 asking)
please watch 86 next you will love it trust me is an amazing anime
I REALLY enjoyed season 1 but season 2 drastically pales in comparison and honestly left me feeling disappointed. If you end up loving season 1 it's worth a watch I suppose but don't expect anything remotely as good. Ideally they should have just made it two cours and combined all of the material into a 24-26 episode single season.
