This is the definition of slice-of-life. It means it's about daily life and it's tribulations. This is also a romcom. Also, fun fact, the original Horimiya web comics came out in the late 2000s.

15:58 that's a reason, but yes that is just a artistic style/choice to symbolize how the characters is feeling. I noticed that when they're feeling uncomfortable, disappointed or disagreeing the "shadow" go away, like literally getting distance and when they're opening their feelings, getting comfortable or agreed with something the "shadow" keeps getting closer.

Honestly...Hori & Miyamura's relationship are wild and int nse but gotta love them for it

The rejected guy is for me my 2nd fav character after miyamura , miyamura hides a lot behind that face of his , as u continue to watch the series u will know why it's the best rom -com and why it won the award . It's a top S tier rom com.

You could not find a more slice-of-life anime than this anime. Top 3 at least. Slice of Life can also be Romances, comedy, adventure, psychological horror, or other genres.

I mean there are anime like Yuru camp and Non non biyori that are straight up slicer of life first. You can find many anime like that, it's just they don't get that popular.

Listen I love horimiya but. You could. A lot of underrated ones.

Skip and Loafer is a true slice of life and soooo good. Highly recommend giving it a watch.

idk if you guys know this and since no one mentioned it here so i'm gonna tell you that the anime is fast paced because they wanted to end the anime in only one season. They did except that the anime will do so much good so they dropped the 2nd season which is called "The Missing Pieces" which are the events that are taken place in between the season 1 episodes. So yeah that is why this anime is fast paced..............

This show is actually perfect

Say, can ya'll just release the rest of the reaction? I am dying to see ya'll's ooo's, aaaaah's, and "Oh my!"'s. This story is utterly remarkable, especially when you find out it was originally a hand sketched lookin 4-koma style web manga. Kyouko and Izumi are fantastic MCs. The side characters are all delightful and valid. The plot, humour, and conflicts all fit so nice. Well, some of the humour is "WTF" af, but that makes it even more precious.

I’m sure others have mentioned it, but this was originally a web comic that was adapted into a manga. It was adapted into an OVA before this TV anime, followed by the Missing Pieces season. They changed the first student council interaction when it was adapted into the manga, probably to make them a little more likable, which was adapted into the anime. Instead of Remi accidentally dropping the report and running away, she made a mistake on it, and Sengoku tells her they’ll just toss it and make an excuse to protect her. Miyamura overhears a conversation between the two and figures out what is going on. Sakura goes to the Hori’s classroom and drags her away by the hand hard enough to cause pain. The student council then tries to get Hori to apologize, knowing full well that she’s innocent. Miyamura knowing what had happened, searched the trash for the report. He headbutts Sengoku hard enough to daze him, and Sakura and Remi protest the violence. He shows them the report, and they realize they've been caught, so they pretend Sengoku hit his head against something else and leave, later apologizing to Hori.

0:38 bro that's so relatable i got that same issue when i finish HunterxHunter and i call this the " Ex-sindrome". When you wach a show that become your favorite or top3 at least, you really have to actively don't look for something like what you was watching because you easily can ruin you experience with a show that is also good but isn't what you want/"was looking for"

Without spoiling anything, I just want to say to people who haven’t watched episode 3 yet: There is a translation problem in the subtitles for episodes 3 that might cause some confusion, if something seems off when you’re watching it, don’t worry too much.

Some episodes have post credits so make sure to watch out for them

This categorized as sliced of life by most all anime sites, and services. But all of these rom coms and more branch out into different categories. Like My Happy Marriage, I thought was a slice of life, then a rom com, and now a grand epic action adventure, I have no idea. Love it.

Damn it, I love this anime. Byw, I always saw those "coloured shadow contrast" scenes to be impactful. Like, the characters have noticed something they can't quite name, or a doubt have formed or been resolved. Idk. It's been a good while since I watched this.

My favorite characters in this are Remi and Sengoku (the pink hair and the prez). xD

i think she is a bit of a tsundere but without realizing she is which is why she's not fully committing to that like most other tsundere anime characters. that also makes it feel more normal/realistic

I hope you guys watch "Tomo Chan Is A Girl" there is only 1 season and it has an satisfying ending.. while dress up darling and horimiya is still going on. it's very good.. ❤ Tomo chan doesn't have 2 or 3 seasons there's only 1 season and Finished..

I don't. The first half of this is good. After that the script fizzles out into nothtingness. If we would not add a bunch of side characters, this would be over after 5 episodes because nothing happens with our mail protagonists.

@@SupremeCommanderBaiser Spoiler warning I would definitely disagree here. The first 4-5 before they get together are very traditional, formulaic romcom anime with the usual trope. It’s only after Horimiya become a couple that the show comes into its own. I think the KZread channel Mother’s Basement summed it up best when he said that basically every “will they won’t they?” anime follows similar patterns, but once they couple is formed they are no more required tropes and each show is free to go in its own direction.

dress up manga is good now because there's actual progress again. the problem with it is that the mangaka doesn't seem to notice that it's a monthly manga. she writes chapters like it's a weekly manga, that's why it seems so slow. but if you binge it then the pacing is actually not that bad. horimiya is great because of the *SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER* early confession and how it focuses on what happens after but the thing that keeps me from having it as one of my favorites is the confession itself. just felt like they could've done more with it. it always made me feel like "oh okay i guess that's it then" when it should've been one of the more impactful moments of the manga
