They Love the N-word in India | GOLDEN TEMPLE 🇮🇳

This video Sums up my experience in India.
In another episode in MY India series, i am today exploring the golden temple of amritsar in Punjab state. Here with me are my two friends, one from Australia and one from India.
whilst exploring the site, and enjoying a nice meal, towards the end of my day my experience went sideways to say the least. When these dudes decided to call me by the N word. Now i know these guys seem ignorant like they dont understand, but rewatching it, i know this aint the case as one of them says Ney which means no in response to his friend saying the N word. so this really Sums up North India for me.
And with that i end my India series and trip.

Actually Indians are not aware about the N word. I am a white German married to an Indian woman. When I first met my in laws they said something about the Austrian painter ( this might get them into a big trouble in the west ) but then I realised they had no clue as to what they are talking about. At first I thought they were racist towards me but later I realised that they had no clue what they were talking about.

I enjoyed your visit to the Golden Temple. I went with my gf and her family whom I stayed with in the Punjab for 3 months. Ate strictly vegan the whole time. Dhal is my favorite with rice. Yes I could only eat one chapati with my vegetarian meal which was spicy. I requested carrot helva which my gf husband makes. He made it for me which took couple of hours to make from beginning to end. . A lot of work goes into making it from juicing and shredding the carrot which looks more orange than our pale carrots we get in Canada in the stores. The carrot helva is to die for. My gf mom in law made me paratha chipati every morning for breakfast which is chapati mixed with potato inside. I liked this better than plain chapati. I managed 2 paratha for breakfast and made my own instant coffee. They don't have coffee maker and drink chai instead. My favorite time was around 6 p.m. when they would light the chuwla, clay oven situated outdoor near kitchen in the courtyard. Everyone had them where I was. . Sticks of wood were continually added to make the chuwla hot enough to bake the chipatis on. I loved watching the chapatis being made and rolled by hand then placed on the fire to bake. Yes we were in the same place in the Golden Temple to eat as you were. Same crowded. The guy who hit your arm is acting like a Jaat. If you read the History of Punjab, the Sikhs have been through a lot of events. Some of the Punjabi men might act like macho but they are really not. Esp in their own homes, the wife is the boss. The rice pudding that was served still is my favorite. My gf mom in law made it for me and it went fast. I think all the Gurdwaras (Sikh Temples) have events where free food is served in same way as in Golden Temple Food is prepared in these huge cauldrons. I went to several. Watching your video sends me back to the wonderful memories I had of my stay there. Lovely Punjabi ppl. Sat shri akal ji.

Normally Sikhs aren't racist or for the most part openly racist. There are ethnic peoples among the Punjabi people, and I have seen many shades of colors, features and backgrounds. And the guy called you Negro is clearly ignorant. He simply was describing you. So you have to decipher his energy, he I've seen a black Khalsa Sikh once in NYC, and clearly he didn't look black, but, looked Punjabi. He has thick long wavy hair, a big beard and wore a turban round. When he went to Punjab, he was welcomed with open arms and a shock! Definitely a cultural shock! The great majority embraced him due to their knowledge of the Khalsa Path. He was a brother. His presence caused many to take Amrit/baptism, and accept the teachings of the Sikh religion. So watching the video, you were accepted ,and embraced as I expected. They were amazingly curious about your presence more than negative. Nothing but smiles and warmth. Even the guy who tapped your shoulder was from being aggressive. Just continue to travel and stay positive. Stay safe.

Slowly chaning? Why does other people have to change because white people did something bad? Negro is not a bad word in India, East Asia or Latin America and it will continue to be so. It just mean African black race. In the west, that word became bad because white Americans used it for slavery and used that word as derogatory term. That's how the word became bad in the west. In other parts of the world, it's still used. People have to stop looking everything through a Western lens. Words can can be construed as offensive, inoffensive, or completely neutral, largely depending on the region or country where it is used, as well as the context in which it is applied. First of all, I apologize for the inconvenience u faced while you were here. The term 'N-word' is not recognized in the region; thus, they lack proper knowledge about it. Its use may stem from ignorance rather than hate, as the term has been propagated during British rule. Many individuals may be unaware of its offensive nature as defined in encyclopedias like Britannica, which states it refers to people of African descent. In a place of worship such as a gurudwara, the use of such a term would likely be avoided if its implications were understood. Additionally, in Indian culture, dark-skinned deities like 'Kali' or 'Maha Kaal' are revered, with their names signifying 'black' and representing powerful entities. And I don't think people here care about racism stuff but yeah, we use it for humor I literally have a friend that goes by the nickname "Kaalu" and so yeah, we call him and if you come to the South people with black color here are referred to as the blessed one's / closest to Sun god.

I was driving my car and a lady cut into my lane aggressively so I beeped horn. At traffic lights I waved my hands like what did you do she then said the N word and she was middle aged....

Guys remember no matter what the word means in India Abdi is not from India therefore him being offended is warranted. The word is still the exact word that has been used as verbal abuse against him for his whole life in other countries. To the people educating that the word isn’t used as offence i understand but to the people blaming Abdi for getting offended have a little common decency and understanding on your part as well.

Hey Abdi, I'm sorry you endured that especially in Amritsar. India as a whole is very ignorant about Africans. Most of the people who said those remarks to you didn't mean to upset you, were curious or were just ignorant in how to approach and what to ask. The guys in the restaurant crossed a lot of personal boundaries saying that and were just stupid and racist. I hope you have good journeys elsewhere in South Asia. I'm sorry Punjab did that to you. PS: Go to Malaysia one day. Delicious food and very kind people. Love from Canada.

They hear popular songs where the N word is used endearingly, a term for a friend, and think that's what it's for. There are similar "terms" in Punjabi music that ARE NOT slurs used in similar ways. Trust me, Northern India is RESOUNDINGLY less racist than other parts of the country - where they will know better. Sorry you had to face this, but also there is a cultural difference that needs to be noted,in India most people don't know and neither are taught that the n word is so offensive,it does not have racist connotations ,its used as a name, even I who has been exposed to western media a lot did not know how offensive it was considered in the west a few years ago. If the man knew how hurtful it is,theres no reason he would use it in his holy sacred place to hurt you,by his body language he looked happy to meet you. Also jaats are known to be loud and boisterous its a habit of theirs to meet people energetically sometimes they hit the back and hands with warmth ,there have even been funny gags about it how someone got hit too much, it's a cultural thing to pat on the back or hands when one meets, one cant see things in India through the lens of how the west treats people of colour,India is a very different country and very diverse culturally and linguistically and and also ethnically.

South Indians also say it too. My wife is from Bangalore but she isn't racist. It's the word Indians genuinely use to distinguish the Afro Caribbean ethnicity group. They don't have the knowledge of the western culture and ways sir and from what I can see is that the man who called you that simply asked you with a smile on his face because he was genuinely happy to greet you and meet you with love. You are really taking the Indian people the wrong way. Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the 1st Guru was the one who opposed to racism. He said there is no Muslim, no Hindu, we are all one. Sikh's recognise the human race as one. The Sikh's carry the Kirpan sword as a saint warrior to defend the oppressed not only for their own people but even for others such as Hindus when they were oppressed. In fact, the 9th Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji sacrificed his head to save the Hindu's. The Sikh's are very selfless and are very giving to all. I wish you peace to be restored in your heart and not to see it as hatred as they are not familiar with western racial terms. Erase your heavy heart with this misunderstanding. I can see that you are a good person and I know that you are not being slanderous to the North Indians as you are simply misunderstood and this misunderstanding is unnecessarily hurting you. It's simply a descriptive terms for a race in India, North and South. I have also seen in Punjab the swastika drawn and painted everywhere and on shops but the meaning isn't racist because the swastika symbol with the dots added was a symbol of peace before Hitler came but then the Nazis altered the symbol slightly and the meaning. I genuinely think India are still stuck on old terms, symbols and definitions which wasn't racist back then and are not up to date with how the west view such words now. Most people I saw love you there brother. It's sad to see you feel this way. My family roots are Sikh's and from Punjab. I am in England though so I know not to call you that but a lot of my family in India would describe you that way and think it's ok and probably use that word thinking it's polite and using the word black, they would probably think that is racist. It's simply a geographical difference of understanding with zero harm in it. The ironic thing is you wouldn't see a black man complain of another black man calling each other that. But that's a whole other subject entirely. Peace and love prospers. Don't live your life with such a heavy heart. You'll be more happier and enjoy your life experiences even more by accepting difference rather than judging difference. Peace and blessings to you. If I have offended you then I am sorry but I tried to be honest and as humble as possible and I enjoyed your content and hopefully you won't take such things to heart in the future brother. 🙏🏽 Much love ❤
