I thought that this was going to be an uplifting movie about humanity and love transcending baser challenges that confront us. I was wrong. I am genuinely puzzled by the empathy that the movie tries to elicit from the audience for these two protagonists. They exhibit the lack of ability to understand the well-being of others and consequences of personal decisions that everyone must learn in order to grow beyond a self-absorbed child. It concerns me greatly that this kind of adulthood narcissism is being celebrated. The message that *should* be broadcasted is that these two are in desperate need of counseling because of this dysfunctional dead area in their brains, or they need help navigating life as psychopaths while minimizing collateral harm to others.

No, I didn't feel that way. Not as a celebration but simply a tale of two people. It was simply the intersection of their separate lives that kept them parallel at other times. Which is why they kept in touch; him mostly when he was desperate. That guy simply had to grow up to realise her worth in his life albeit for a short while when Fate intervened for good & took her away.
@andrewhancock2451

@@naleenidas8444 : Of course you didn't feel that way. The movie glamorizes emotional irresponsibility. I suggest re-watching it and asking whether each decision makes remote sense for someone with an awareness of needs of others beyond self and of responsibility in addition to emotion. Acting *only* out of emotion rather than an awareness of the consequences of one's life decisions is what children do. You might suggest that I also re-watch the recap with your perspective in mind. But I am completely aware of that perspective. It's the one that Hollywood pushes. In fact, I'm not saying that there's no room for emotional needs, and you'll note that none of your narrative precludes mine in my originally posted comment. But if immediate emotional needs are the only driver of life decisions, there is no possibility for long term happiness.

I felt their story was a romantic tragedy and the book structure definitely made the heartbreak hit harder
This is my favorite movie of all time and will forever love it
Bruhhh that ending 🍃🍃🌧️
From start to ending it was just heartbreaking in the middle. The life that they both could've had possibly and the fact it didn't last long when they got together.

I guess that is what life really is, to love and rarely be loved on return
This movie show you to never waste your time waiting for a man who never going to love you back your simply wasted your life on a man who only used you when he feels lonely

Love is not abt waiting to be love, no matter how long you wait but the other party doesn’t feel the same you can only wait. Love is giving and receiving so.

One of my favorite movies.
Thank you
You waste so much time in your life loving the wrong person that you don't even realize that you are loosing yourself in the process, she loved him and gave him her life before she Lost it!!
only seen it once and that's it. the ending is so sad i was like what that's it not fair. and he says that the waste all that time not being when he could've or something like that that's so heartbreaking. I couldn't watch it anymore. love him in across the universe

Lovee this movie, like major awwwwwww...❤
The new Netflix series ONE DAY brought me here.

Well you have to let go of things you can’t control and just enjoy the moment if the love of your life dies at least you had the opportunity to meet her and to appreciate the good moments that’s in self is something many don’t get the chance so instead of being fearful try to focus on being grateful hope this message helps.

whats the movie's name ??
It only takes one person to be part of someone's life. Some may stay and some may not but they will always have a special place in someone's heart. I'm kinda sad about the story but guess they're meant for each other but not meant to be together. Thanks for doing a recapped of Anne Hathaway's movie. Can you also try to do a movie review of her other movie which is "Song One."
