"They Are Breeding Grounds For Antisemism" | Pro Palestine Marches Set To Be Banned Under Law Change
The government might tweak the Public Order Act to give police the power to shut down pro-Palestinian protests in London, which have been happening every weekend since October.
Officials are "actively considering" changes to Section 12 of the Act, which would let police factor in the "relative cumulative disruption" of protests when deciding whether to stop them. The scope of what counts as disruption is also being reviewed.
This move comes ahead of an official review by Lord Walney, the government's independent advisor on political violence and disruption, which is set to be published this week with recommendations for ministers.
The Home Office has noted that recent protests have involved a small minority causing damage and intimidation and have faced criticism for instances of antisemitism.

They use them when it suits them, like the St George's Day gathering, police in riot gear and mounted police. Who blocked of the road between Trafalgar Square and the gathering place and at one point they rode their horses into the crowd. However at the pro Hamas marches are handler in the same way as they do, Just Stop Oil, and Trans activist marches, they just stand by and allow broken laws to go unnoticed because the turn a blind eye, they are afraid of getting called names that will hurt their feelings. Giving the police extra powers when they will not exercise those they already have is like putting a plaster on a cancer. We need to take those powers from the police and put them in the hands of someone directly answerable to the public. The Minister or an elected Crime Commissioner. As someone who supports freedom of speech and assembly - even though I have no time for these protests - I don't support banning the marches. They could certainly be better policed, and there are instances of two tier policing and just bad policing, but that's not reason to ban marches per se. I don't agree with hate speech laws, either. Hate speech is subjectively perceived, and restrictions on speech that offends some people - excluding speech that incites violence - should also not be countenanced in a democratic society. Giving the State more powers over what citizens can say or do is not something that I want to see.

they should be banned not because of the speech in them, I'm all for free speech and right to protest. But they are disrupting daily life for British citizens. No protest should ever interfere with daily activities like getting to work, crossing a road, not being able to access buildings etc. If they want to protest, they can take it to an area and sit there for a couple of hours and move on. But the most important point is this: The people on these marches DONT CARE about free speech. They have been perfectly willing to shut down anything Islamophobic, homophobic, transphobic. They're the first to cancel you on twitter, dox you and phone your work place to get you fired if you say something online. THEY DONT CARE. But now, all of a sudden, they say 'but muh free speech'. It's all about power, its all about instilling fear, its all about oppressing people they hate.

The zionists goal was an exclusively Jewish state in which Palestinians, if not expelled, were at best second-class citizens in their own land. The British Empire gifted Palestine to the zionists. The British had no right whatsoever to gift Palestine to a zionist third party. It wasn't Britain's land to give away in the first place.

Consider this I live up t'North I have a 20 something years old Bengali tϣat living opposite me in his moms council flat (so subsided by Council tax payers), probably there because he spent his paltry earning or benefit on a car far beyond his means, he has two 'free palestine' flags and a Keffeyah rag in his bedroom window, not that I fear him, but Police are aware and do nothing, in fact I have heard from other Islamist that they are offended /whinge and bleat, that so many of their 'friends' have had windows broken and cars damaged "just because they have a 'free palestine' flag". That it goes further many shops and businesses are adorned with the offensive palestine flag - one shop is even directly opposite our local part time police office with two 4 x 3 ft flags in their windows, yet police do nothing, so people like me have to travel further to shops, while the scummy Councillors impose stealth LTNs & CAZ, but hardly surprisingly the local Councillor who resigned from Labour - but not from his elected position over Starmers stance on Gaza, considers his job is to "fight racism" which means to be anti-Semitic, it wouldn't be so bad if his Ward was well run with clean streets, low crime but it isn't it is rapidly turning into a 3rd world sh!thole like Chittagong in Bangladesh.
