Hi Jake. Vauban is a famous engineer of Louis XIV. He constructed several fortified towns in France to prevent invasions. You went to fast and didn't have the time to read which town it was, and you just read " city of Vauban" :) Saint Malo is one of them. I live next to Villefranche du conflent ( next to perpignan) which is another one. I hope it helps :)

i think the existing hedge score is good, like how team duels have always worked, this is just like two people sharing a computer playing solo

Something that sucks is even the current unranked system isn’t great in my opinion. For any 50/50 that occurs, the team will just send both countries, and multis will get so high that it becomes very luck based. This system at least forces you to send with some level of confidence which I like, feels more skill based. Neither are perfect systems but hopefully they figure out something that works!

Splitting the difference could be a good compromise. Something like counting the closest guess for full points and the second guess for half points would still add some chances to hedge and cover 50/50s but would still reward commitment.

In moving, it would be MUCH harder (basically impractical) for the same person to play both accounts. I'm sure that's why Syph/Bruce were only queueing NMPZ (IF Syph was playing both accounts).

Two goats casually chatting about the game probably lasting three hours...and dealing 12k damage the next round 😂

In a true 50/50, splitting might still make sense if you want to avoid losing. If your opponents are very low on health and you have 10,000 and the 50/50 is, say Denmark/Netherlands, you should probably split. Or am I miscalculating?

Depends on if your opponents are stupid enough to split guess aswell, in that case multis will just move up, no damage will be dealt, and chances for your opponents to reverse sweep increase. On the other hand if the multis are high enough already and you split but they commit and happen to be right on it, they might still take an insane amount of health off of you. So there's no exactly right way of doing things mathematically here, another reason why the way the damage system works in this mode is awful. It's a fun idea they tried to implement there but ultimately it's a fail. They should reverse it to best guess is counted only, and if they wanna be funny they could add something like minor damage scales for the second closest guess. Lets say the loc is in Krasnodar and Team 1 both get it but Team 2 sends one guy Krasno and the other in Wolgodonsk then both closest guesses basically do no damage whatsoever but to reward the commitment of Team 1 both second closest guesses from each team also trade dmg/health but only with a 0.2x multiplier. For example lets just say both first guesses ended up being a 4900 in terms of score so there's 0 damage dealt there; the second guesses were a 4700 for Team 1 and a 3700 for Team 2 so with no multiplier this would be 1k damage but because it's second guesses it's 0.2x so it's only 200 damage. When the multipliers go up to let's say 3.5x the same example would equal 700 damage. In my opinion that would be a very nice way of being able to reward committing/punish too big of a hedge without failing the entire idea of Team Duels.

@@Lennli I don't think it's quite the same as the score reduces exponentially with distance. So one close and one far is better than two in the middle (if you know it's going to be one of the two and middle is not a possibility).

I tried to play with my gf but we were a day early! Can't wait to give it a go. Unsure if I love the scoring, but it's ok.

If you split your guesses, you are actually just guessing halfway between the two & may as well both go there.

I think averages would make much more sense. Because this new mode also exists if you do Party and there it would be nice if you could play 5vs4 and all people are allowed to guess. With the current mode however it's totally unfair, however if it would be average points it work out pretty well.

I like the scoring system. I find the old system of 2v2, 3v3, etc. player duels to be boring to watch because you can hedge the entire world. Lenni and Jake vs. Syph (if he's playing on two accounts) is still a huge advantage because you have two brains of knowledge and metas vs. 1, so I have no problems with how they set it up.

Seems like good fun, but the scoring system is absolutely atrocious. They should change that. The old system just works fine so why change something if it's not broken?

If someone plays on two accounts or with another person who is new/less skilled, wouldn't it make sense to instaguess if you know a rough region? Reasoning is that it would make it hard for the individual who has to guess on both accounts in time and it would also probably force errors for the new player.

I see that surprisingly often by pros, thinking it could be Germany when it's not paved. An unpaved public road in Germany is the most unlikely thing to be covered by Google. They only exist as agricultural access to fields and shortcuts nbetween small 5 house hamlets and farms that already have paved access some other way, not as normal roads anyone but the residents of those would use or even know about. Google is not even close to covering granularly enough that they'd go down these roads. Any road near me that is close to being that rural and not obviously a farm road only is at least 2 intersection away from actual coverage.

I'm not here to condone the scoring system, but it's clearly still a team duel. You have an entire teammate to speak to and share knowledge, which should be cheating in solos.

first I was happy to finally see Jake back in the duels, but after the first win the annoying complaining about the new Team Duel rating system starts. It's something new - give it a try, develop some dynamics - stop the whining . NMPZ isn't your mode anyway - who doesn't know ? Find a better teammate, Move or NM, make carrying on commentary and win back my attention.

Honestly this game mode is fun
