tbh, i kinda wish that newer players can get to play with pros so that they can get the experience on how the game works. I wonder if geoguessr will do a find a random teammate queue

Yeah, I agree. One day, I can play with pros like you. However, I don't think pros like playing random people. They play with their friends on Geoguessr, so they may not queue to find a random teammate.

I mean, you can in unranked team duels. I've played with and against many pros as a gold/master.

Very odd decision to do the guessing system like this. Can't really think of any reason why they should do this Edit: and the leaderboard is just straight up hilariously pointless.

gg :') In Kenya, I didn't recognize it for anything east or south and we didn't have snorkel so I was proposing a lake hedge since I've seen similar flat stuff along the coast of the lake but we ended up moving a bit more east just to hedge

I think the system is only helpful for beginners and noobs like me. Once a year I organize a team tournment in my company. Almost all are beginners. If you have like 5-7 players per team you usually could be nearer just by luck (because of the big spread), however now with this mode you'll not be better if just one random guy of the opposing team guesses closer. So for the "party" mode it's not too bad. HOWEVER I don't get why they don't take averages instead of sums. First of all you wouldn't have to increase the health points (especially in big "noob" games) and additionally it would allow for teams of different sizes (which really doesn't matter THAT much for beginners) to play. So you could do a 5vs7 and it would still be ok.

4:57 I knew it had to be on or near Vancouver Island!! I just couldn't shake the feeling that it was Vancouver Island. Technically, it was Saltspring Island, but that's just off the coast of Vancouver Island. But, I scanned for ages and just couldn't find the right spot. But, that's cuz it wasn't a lake. It was the ocean and that was an island on the other side. I was only looking at lakes. BTW, I grew up in Victoria.

good start, just change the scoring mechanics and then its good, also the rating system is kinda scuffed but i cant think of a better to fix the scoring, i recommend adding the second players score *.25, so basically the top guess counts for the most, but the second guess counts for a bit but not as much

Yeah I was thinking the same, maybe even *0.5 as people have said the old team duels had problems with people always hedging on 50/50s whilst boosting it a bit may make a better mix of players guessing similar location and hedging.

11:40 it makes queueing with very weak friend super benefitial since you solo can probably beat 2 800 elo players

16:49 Maybe Kodiak needs to trust Lennli in the USA, because Lennli has been killing it in Rainbolt's 3 sec Arbitrary USA maps lately...

Two 700 elo players will have no chance at all against one 0 Elo player and Lennli. So taking the average of both players would also lead to unbalanced duels. The combined Elo will be much closer to the better rated player, as they can just tell the other one where to guess. Other than that I agree with all of your points about the new mode.

Why would you add up the points? This is strange. Also I think it could be nice to just place one guess together (but they would have to think of a good implementation).

@@see1050 fair, but its actually not fun for me like this :/ out of interest, what division are you? i havent met many champion players that laike the system but ive seen quite a bit of support from lower ranked players

I rarely write non positive comments. but in this case and the team duel you share with Jake Lyons I had to. My point: Every point counts in the new system and you need to develop different team dynamics than used before. It will take some time. Just try without all the nagging. Give it a chance. @barrbarrbinks and Mathieu contribution for example, feels more entertaining - don't like their "on top" guess in generell (unless you are 5K sure) but they are making it fun because of their commentary - like - shared messed up pronunciation for example. go team go - explore the world - have a nice day
