I love the band, but they also provided the biggest "oopsie" I have ever seen at a concert and I've been to a lot. I saw Bon Jovi open for Ratt in like 1986 in Cleveland. We had 7th row seats. On the opening song he came running out from the wing wearing a long leather duster, tripped on a monitor cord and fell on his face. After about ten seconds of surprise, Ritchie Sambora had to turn around he was laughing so hard.

Songs outliving you is… fine. It happens. Even if you don’t want it to. Back when I binged Babylon 5, my wife kept telling me that one of the main supporting actors wrote the “Dead Puppies are no fun” song, from Dr. Dimento’s. I mean… he did it… his name is on it… but in five seasons of B5, he acted his ass off, and did a very good job. His connection to that song, while amusing, was a distraction. There’s the children’s song in France, Alouette. Very cheerful song. Each verse is about removing a different body part from a sparrow (Alouette means sparrow). And the end of each verse kind of does a list of what all has been removed. Like how the 12 days of Christmas, when singing about the 10th day, you end by repeating all ten. But here we’re talking about literally ripping this bird to pieces. I’m pretty sure it’s been around for over a century. So maybe it’s better if songs don’t stay in the zeitgeist.

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that Jon asked Stephen to not put him on the spot this time and ask to get the band to come in and play a song this time. Understandable as he's not done any live performances since the Musicares show in February, and he's still working on getting to where he wants to be, but that would've honestly been pretty funny if he did it again.

As a performer, I have worked with band leaders like that. You can easily see both sides of that if you think about it. One is that the composer has his idea of how the song should go (I call this the McCartney syndrome) and the other is that the other musicians want people to realize they are just as valuable (I call that the Harrison equation.)

Jon, please get rid of Jon Shanks. He has murdered the sound and the writing. Richie’s new music is 🔥. Apologize for silencing his guitar! We could see in the documentary that Richie is upset about being replaced by the horrible Jon Shanks. Your voice, Richie’s voice, his guitar voice, and the dynamic songwriting duo is BON JOVI. The band is basically a solo/ tribute band. Shanks is up there living some pop fantasy like a latent wanna be Ziggy Stardust poisoning the well. You got three/four guys up there to handle both of Richie’s voices and (while Phil X is great) he isn’t Richie. Drop Shanks, REMOVE him as producer, his guitar and his pop sound no matter what. Richie apologized for the way he left, just apologize for replacing him when he needed you most. You can’t treat Richie like bargain basement employee. Even Phil Lynott still needed Gary Moore every now and then. “Bon Jovi is a Man’s band”, you said that once and Shanks makes you sound like he want you to sound like some pop princess music, with a hint of JBJ, part Bon Jovi, part Bon Jovi Tribute Band with some U2 Edge on guitar filling out the sound. Let’s heal! Dylan got Robbie back once, Bruce has got Van Zandt back. Let it rock, let it go You can't stop a fire burning out of control! #justiceforRichie

@@markwilliamsmusic2987 Yeah… This is a conflicting statement. I’m confused. While punctuation would serve you well here; why are you using quotes? To quote you with “Samboring”, (not so clever, but, sometimes it’s about the effort), what exactly do you mean here? What is it that you’re trying to say? Were you attempting to write: Richie Sambora is “Samboring, new songs are so damn boring too!” Or, Richie “Samboring’s new songs are so damn boring!” Or, “Samboring.. New songs are so damn boring.”? As in, what I said was Samboring? And still, his songs are boring? Just new songs in general are boring or possibly stated as boring facetiously? Or did you actually mean, “Samboring new songs are so damn "boring" As in Richie is “Samboring, new songs are so damn “boring” like he, personally is still boring with saying “Samboring”, but the new songs are “boring”, meaning that you are being sarcastic and they aren’t boring at all as suggested with the use of quotes? Or is it still Richie is “Samboring, new songs are so damn “boring” like he, personally is boring with saying “Samboring”, but the new songs are “boring”, meaning that you are quoting someone, but us -me being the audience doesn’t actually know whom you are quoting? Are we supposed to know if you are quoting someone? Are you quoting yourself, and why? Did you write an article and I don’t realize you are a “massive deal”? The grammar would suggest not. You say “Samboring”, but then was your statement with “new songs are so damn “boring”, with boring being in quotation marks means you are being sarcastic and the two ideas then live in conflict with each other, if it’s not just a quote. Are you quoting someone, or referencing something? You know when you say something you don’t like, “quote” yourself, right? It’s just a statement and you say it. Like if I said, “This interaction is so damn boring” then I would respond with: This interaction is so damn boring. See? It is without the quotation marks. So, did you actually just mean to say simply that the songs are boring? In which case you should not have used quotations marks. What do you mean Mark? Which is it? This is going to keep me up for weeks without an answer, man! I may be forced to listen to bad Bon Jovi covers on KZread until I have clarity!!! No one wants that at all! The world doesn’t need more horrid Bon Jovi covers. Besides, they Always seem like they’re performed by some rando Samboring Bon Jenericly wannabe Captain Kidds with a 6 string broomstick in their hands. Just like Shanks, no one will never be JBJ and certainly never ever like Sir Richie Sambora and his soulful Shark Frenzy fingers! I feel like someone with a Top 40 song, while it seemingly can’t be found on the internet, Spotify or anywhere called “Bang’ Bang”, would still know how to use quotation marks correctly though. Maybe, check out the google machine and goggle “how to use quotation marks correctly” and let me know? Unfortunately, I can only deal with so much right now “while my guitar lies bleeding in my arms”. Oh, btw. Completely unrelated.. I heard that studies show illiteracy is on the rise. Crazy, right? But, none of it matters really on this Thursday night when I’m feeling like Monday; but, Someday I’ll be Saturday Night. Respectfully, Cheers!

@@S_67F I don’t know no stinkin’ Ritchie. Who dat? Is he Samboring? Now Richie Sambora, only walked because his friend, partner and musically soulmate treated him like a POS hired hand, like a second class cut rate Punk B!tch with all them venereal diseases. You can’t just take the effect, make it the cause, then use that as justification to wash your hands of him! All you did was wipe fecal mater all over your face. Jon, knew exactly what he was doing to prove his point by letting Shanks steal guitar parts and what not to try and motivate Richie to work and get his act together. Richie needed Jon. But then Jon obviously got bent that Richie didn’t beg like a dog for his job like a good obedient employee, clearly became passive aggressive and then had the audacity to trivialize it and Richie throughout that entire documentary. Richie was at his lowest and Jon couldn’t swallow his ego to help Richie? For Richie, really? Instead Jon’s motto is FY, he even says it! He wanted to show Richie that he wasn’t why they were huge, why they sold out arena and stadiums, why the music was good, etc. It was all Jon and not Richie, everyone is replaceable except Jon. Jon is the best. Jon is to blame, Shanks stinks and that documentary makes it all crystal clear. And, I say all this in spite of Bon Jovi being my favorite band, it pains me speaking negative of Jon. Jon and Richie’s music is what inspired me to study music in college and play guitar. Jon is the leader, he is the Captain and when that ship goes down, or member of that crew goes down, it is Always the Captain’s fault!

What he did to Skid Row was pretty messed up, but that's kind of how the music industry is sign away your soul for the first album and tour. Sabastan definitely didn't deserve the hazing on top of it. I've never heard of any animosity between Poison and Jon. They both were kind of big by '86. Aside from being in a few photos together I don't even remember them touring together, or music interaction. What happened with Poison?😢

I love how this guy constantly tries to take credit for songs that Desmond Child (mostly) wrote. He owes all his success to professional song writers (yes kids, Bon Jovi was mostly fake), yet he acts like he thinks he's fucking Bob Dylan, or something. It's wrong.
