These SHEEP SCALES can't be right!

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

I'm still trying to pay the bills here so we're out sorting another load of lambs to go to Lanark mart.
This time it's the cheviot / cheviot mule lambs which we are sorting through but we just can't believe the weights that are on the scales.
Let me know your thoughts,
Thanks #SheepFans

ABOUT ME
I’m 30 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city (something I still do) and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 600 breeding ewes.
I shore over 15,000 sheep this season in UK and I also travel to Norway for shearing in March and September. (Covid messed it up this year)
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on KZread and decided I could have a go and now here we are!
Thanks for watching my videos and please subscribe if you want to see more in future.

As Sandi B. 🇨🇦 goes to ship her lambs to market toward the end of April 2022, she opens the door to go outside and all is white and still snowing and cleaning the snow off the truck and attaching the trailer and goes down the road a bit to the other barn (the sell lambs) and backs in , loads the lambs onto the trailer, clean snow off the truck again and off to white knuckle it to market. Meanwhile here on the island of Newfoundland 🇨🇦, we hardly had any snow all winter. (not always that way) I know my neighbour the sheep farmer had his sheep out later this year before going into the barn for winter. He takes his sheep to a little green island off the coast in June and brings him back Sept/Oct. he also has an alpaca.

Well, Id like to say our sheep area is like Sandi Brocks, but we live in the Kootenays in BC and until this week our ewe pen ( no pasture as everything is covered in snow) was 30% lake as we went through a very fast thaw. Mud, mud, mud! Pretty much the same as your field except without the lovely grass.

Give yourself more room on the side where you’re turning, so, if you’re turning left, hug the center line. Don’t follow the fog line. Square off your turns, when turning right, get halfway through the intersection, before you start your turn. It was hard to figure this out in my head, because I’m an American truck driver, but I hope this helps. I worry about your animals, because, besides being hard on your tires, curbing your trailer puts it at risk for tipping over. Be safe. *hugs*

  • @viscache1
    @viscache13 жыл бұрын

You should remove one axle and use only two. The front and rear axle tires are working side friction against each other under load. You can center the two remaining axles and put them as close as possible perfectly aligned so that there is a full 5cm between the closest point of the tires and put 8 ply bias belted tires (heavy load tires) for up to 8 tons gross weight. Your tires, like mine will last for many years. I built my own trailers and run them 40,000 k per year each. Under load I often carry 6-7 tons. My trailer is 3.5 ton

Another fun video, was wondering why those three sheep were determined to fall down the ravine into the river though. Lol. As for Sandi Brock, she does have a sweet set up for weighing, but since her winters can get to -40 C and tons of snow, it’d be a bit hard finding any sheep in the fields, plus she has coyotes. She does have one disadvantage, she needs to clean out the barn and feed her sheep constantly. It keeps her busy. You both do a great job of it and I love seeing the different varieties of sheep you grow out by you. ❤️👍🐑🎄

Can't wait to see what the lambs will be like from the Valley Black Nose and your Jacobs, should be some cute lambs. What am I talking about, all lambs are cute. That little Shetland has got the best facial expression, a sort of wide eyed amazed look, lol.

Some sheep farmers are like sheep, see a flash looking trailer in the mart, got to have one. Ifor Williams 14 foot 2 axle trailer, turns on a sixpence, no scuffing of tyres. 10 ply 6.50-R16 In 12 years spare never been used. Trailer can legally carry more weight than a triple axle.

Cammy, I enjoyed another great video by you. Merry Christmas, looking forward to a Christmas video, if you get on up Christmas Morning. As others have said, it sure is wet for y'all there, I can see why flukes are a issue. For the most part the scales are dead on here in the US, like gas pumps the scales are tested yearly and at random. Depending on the state and county the scale is in, results in how much it's tested. For the most part you can trust them. If a sale barn was cheating people the word would spread fast, they'd be outta business or worse. After you all most go in the river and after watching most of your videos, I'd say you have had some close calls. I've noticed you have many gates in the middle your pasture fences and not the corners, What a head ache to push livestock threw those. I found it interesting the footage at the
