Fun fact: The reason that Sable (the one who asked about the dynamite in the speakeasy) was so nervous was because the quarry that Rocky destroyed was his.

During prohibition, alcohol dealers would hide alcohol in graves, and their customers would dig it up. But honestly, i recommend reading thr comic. It gives a LOT of backstory.

The American Prohibition era was suuuch an interesting point in history. That's when the mob really got their claws into things and some of the biggest names of the game were in their highlights: Al Capone, Lucky Luciano, and Bugsy Seigal... To point out a few. I'm really hoping that people dont just think this is just an Internet cartoon but take an active interest in the real history of rum-running, speakeasies, and the real life figures that mark a great period in our country.

Aaahhh yes. The Roaring Twenties! I have a fascination with that era myself. I love to write stories inspired by it

Lackadaisy is a web comic that started in 2006 that is based on the prohibition era (ban of alcohol) of th 20's and early 30's with gangster cats instead of people.

One of the common practices of rum runners, moonshiners, gangsters and so on of the American Prohibition era, was to use funeral homes to hide the alcoholic produce smuggled across the border. In this case, Canadian Whiskey. Canadian Whiskey was one of the cheaper alternatives to gaining and selling alcohol at the time - the distribution being something that big players like George Remus, made a huge buck on. Anyway, the scheme was simple. Pay the funeral home to keep it awhile, hold a fake ceremony - or even a real one where they opted for ashes, as apposed to a proper burial as a sort of, “donation to the cause,” in a way - dump the alcohol in the coffin, smuggle it out to speakeasy owners and profit. This is but one of the many methods people used to distribute alcohol, but there are others - as an example, doctors offices and pharmacies could distribute alcohol identified before the ban, so a good play was to pay the doctor for, “medicinal alcohol.” Look it up! It’s an interesting period.

Love seeing people react to this! Lemme help you out man: - pilot episodes are basically proof of concepts, the episode before the REAL episodes are made, you can find pilots of shows like SpongeBob and other cartoons out there before the shows were made! - another commenter explained prohibition, but basically as alcohol was outlawed, secret bars called “speakeasies” popped up which is what the show is basically centred around, running an illegal bar mixed with business / gang rivalry - the dude in the painting that Miss M was speaking to was originally the owner of Lackadaisy speakeasy, but after he died the business started going down, at the end of the pilot, you can see Miss M reminiscing on the old days when he was alive Hope this helps! Love the reaction 🤟

Just so you know, the foundation lines in the final product were intentional. It was to 1. call back to the Disney moves in the '60s and '70s where they used Xerox instead of inkers, and 2. Tracy herself (the creator and artist) keeps her foundation lines in on her comic pages.
