In regards to the ticking sound for Mordecai, it's less about him being associated with "Time" and more him being associated with being "Orderly". His mind is like a clock, methodical and precise, so the ticking is supposed to represent his perspective or mindset... plus I think it's part of what allows him to be so aware of his surroundings (and why Freckle couldn't get the drop on him), because Freckle making that slight sound disrupted Mordecai's perfect rhythmic perception, thus making him aware of the sneak attack. At least that's my take on it. Also yeah, Rocky and Mordecai are my two favorite characters, both from the web comic and from this pilot. Interesting that I love the two most insane characters, though both of them are polar opposites in how their insanity manifests

Ohhh, I think I actually agree with you! That makes a ton of sense, that completely aligns with Mordecai counting the bullets before aiming at Freckle. Can't wait to see more of them, I REALLY hope they continue this, lots of potential!

"Raspberries" as an exclamation isn't so much of an insult as a replacement for profanity, the thing a person would say if they weren't comfortable cursing, particularly a young child or a sensitive individual. In this case, it serves to show that Ivy is a more innocent person who should probably not be running bootlegged alcohol.

@@darquidarqui Possibly the opposite. He seems like the sort of person who has hyperactive-impulsive ADHD at a time when there was no access to support or treatment for it. A disturbing number of people with undiagnosed or unsupported ADHD eventually resort to substance abuse in a desperate attempt to control their symptoms, and alcohol is a popular choice for “forcing their brains to slow down.” Also…they put cocaine in regular soda back then…while some stimulants do “calm” ADHD people (by basically providing enough extra dopamine to satisfy their brains), that isn’t true for all them and especially not in uncontrolled dosages.

The opening scene with Rocky was one of the best opening sequences I've ever seen in an animation. It's honestly hard to choose a favourite here but I gotta say, as a violinist Rocky hit straight into my heart. He's at the same time someone who clearly has seen hardships of the world and someone who still manages to be a romantic in a way. He's clearly a show person and for him, the world is just one big stage. I'm really intrigued by him. And honestly, Zib and Wick, even though they only had a short banter, managed to get my attention. I have a feeling that Zib's gonna get a lot of fans if this animation becomes a series (alongside with Mordecai who already appears to have a strong fanbase).

Nico and Serafine speak some French because they Cajun or Louisiana Creole. The Cajuns are an ethnic group that descended from Acadians who were exiled by the British from Canada and settled in Louisiana. Louisiana Creoles are Africans who were settled in Louisiana by the French and Spanish before the territory was bought by the US. Typically they're descendents of slaves, but not always.

The "rings" were actually literal: Circus performances are performed in circular arenas (rings), and having more than one allowed a troupe to switch rings between performances (reducing the time needed to set up for an act) and/or conduct several performances in different rings simultaneously. Compare the phrase "five-alarm fire": the "alarms" in question imply the number of stations (i.e: units of firefighters) dispatched to handle a specific fire -- e.g. a "one-alarm" fire means first responders, a "two-alarm" fire means they called for backup, and so on.

21:10, I’ve sorta read the webcomic a long time ago & I read a fanfic of the comic, it wasn’t until I looked up and realize it’s Mitzi on top of the piano playing the ukele, confirming what I read in the fanfic. Mitzi was part of the band with Zib, but when she hooked up with Atlas, essentially their boss, he seemingly passed on the business to her (tho it may or may not be confirmed if Mitzi legally inherited the business so I’m not sure) & she goes on telling people like Horatio, Victor, & even her fellow band mate like she’s the boss in which it’s an interesting dynamic that’s only explored or inferred from as little evidence found here that’s not shown in the show, for at least for now like how u sniffed out a murder mystery yet to be addressed. 😅

  • @zayamoone

I really recommend reading the web comic, the series seems to be following an abridged and slightly modified version of the comic’s story, so it’s not the same, and it gives some background on the characters. That is, unless you don’t want spoilers for future episodes, but who knows how long it’ll be. Plus, like I said, it’s not the same story. But I’m sure the character backstories will all remain the same. Also, fun fact, Mordecai not shooting at Ivy as they were leaving the quarry was a reference to him getting “sentimental”. ;)

With Freckle it seems like he is this quiet, polite guy, til he has a gun in his hands. And Rocky also seems to go crazy, but only if there is dynamite around him. These two are cousins and because Ivy til now doesn`t have a trigger, as far as I know, I wonder if it lays in their family or they share a story that gave both of them these triggers. Kinda spoilery but I kept it as vague as I could. In the comic Ivy mentions to Freckle that Rocky brought up his past to her and Freckle gets this scared look in his eye which cant be because of Rocky's injury because he already knows about it and why would he be scared about Rocky opening up to a friend? Worried maybe but he looked like doom was approaching. And my theory is that there's some sort of family secret that Freckle was worried Rocky might have let slip to ivy. I think that it must have something to do with Freckle and Rocky both having these violent triggers. Like an event that caused it. Perhaps a crime or a murder. But this is all just speculation on my part.

9:50 it's just a replacement word for balls. The USA was rather prudish when it came to swearing for the longest time, but people would come up with replacement words. 11:32 His whole speech at this time is Circus related and a lot of circus in the USA were 3 ring circuses where each ring focused on a different headline act, so the use of 3 here was probably coincidental and not in reference to the main 3 characters. 15:57 Yes it was his Quarry, apparently, there is a bit more to it but I haven't read the source comics yet so not entirely sure, but Rocky really enjoyed destroying Wick's Property.

Heeey thank you so much! I used Google Translate since I don't speak the language and genuinely wanted to know what you typed and I appreciate it! I love to take my time with analyzing certaing things, characters for the most part. And details drive me crazy! I'm all for that in storytelling, really can't wait to see more of this project. Freckle is so lovable, he's so much fun! Thank you once again 😄

@@darquidarqui Now it's my turn to use Google Translate since I don't speak English fluently. I can only roughly understand the meaning of what was said. Yes, this project is amazing. The authors are great and if they succeed! I will need to take some time for myself and read the original comics in this universe. And about your reaction: as a rule, such modest KZreadrs like you make the most sincere and interesting analysis of what they saw. This is what I need! Sincere and sincere response! I will study your channel for interesting reactions) I wish you good luck in the future!

I watched this video at least 4 times, I just love it so much... Thank you for reacting to Lackadaisy, without you, I would probably have ignored it... And now I watched the pilot 10 times and read the comic in less than 3 days (yes I am obssed) ✨ As always, I love your editing and your thoughts (and your reaction as well ofc)

Eh…Rocky is almost textbook hyperactive-impulsive ADHD, especially during a time when there was absolutely no support or treatment for it. Gets especially prominent in the comic when his head injury prevents him from continuing to mask, and he starts revealing that he knows the effect he has on people but he can‘t control it, and he feels worthless as a result. Freckle…given his upbringing, he likely just has a lot of suppressed frustration and rage that he’s never been allowed to actually express or work out. He grew up in an extremely strict, overly sheltered Irish Catholic household with a domineering mother and he was expected to be “the golden boy” (with Rocky as the family scapegoat) at all times. And the golden child doesn’t yell, or speak out of turn, or cause any sort of trouble whatsoever…that’s the scapegoat’s job.

I don't know when "raspberries" got this meaning (obviously it usually refers to the fruit) but it also means blowing your tongue at someone. In this case, it's being used as an intentionally mild swear- after all, a girl can't be saying *real* swears in the 1920s.

As an American with English as my native language, "Raspberries" doesn't mean anything special, to my knowledge. I've never heard of it before. But it seems she's just using it as a exclamation of frustration. It's not uncommon for some Americans to replace exclamations like that with made-up or benign words to avoid swearing, like saying "Gosh Darn" instead of "God Damn!" It's also possible that "Raspberries!" is an old word used in frustration that is before my time. People in the 1920's did speak differently than we do now.

This is 1920s United States of America there in a decade it was illegal to have or sell any alcoholic beverages, but America did anyway they formed bars, clubs lounges they were called speakeasies, and they were illegal to operate the whiskey that they required came from Canada, where it was perfectly legal, but they had the form interesting ways to ship it like in coffin boxes later on after that was repealed they still use the same technique to ship illegal narcotics into the country. For instance, if there was a war and they were returning bodies they would fill the bottom of the coffins with drugs, and stick the dead body on the top prohibition on alcohol was from 1920 to 1933 during that decade the rich in the powerful seal smuggled in alcohol from what they didn’t save prior to 1920 and this is just evidence that prohibition on alcohol and drugs is a lot more work and financial crippling Then continuing the legalization of products of this nature sort of the concept of Eva, eating the bidden fruit the the concent of forbidding such items opens up the world to temptation.
