For a world record top speed to be legitimate, the vehicle has to do two runs going forward and back the track. The average is then taken as the top speed. The super sport 300+ only did the run in one direction, hence why it does not hold the record.
AFAIK, the speed record of the Tuatara was cheated....

Yeah, heard about that too! Crazy stuff, right? There were also problems with the Bugatti speed record.
